The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for candidates who received admission offers from 2021 up to the present but are yet to accept or reject them.

πŸ“Œ 𝐍𝐄𝐖 πƒπ„π€πƒπ‹πˆππ„: Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

The former deadline was Monday, 31 August 2026. Candidates affected by this directive should treat the new date as the final opportunity to make a decision.

πŸ”” 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 π‚π€ππƒπˆπƒπ€π“π„π’ 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃 π“πŽ πŠππŽπ– πŸ‘‡πŸ»

β€’ Candidates with outstanding admission offers, including regular and CUIIA admissions, should either accept or reject the offer before 30 September 2026.

β€’ Do not wait until the deadline day. Failure to take the necessary action within the stipulated period will affect the admission status.

β€’ Candidates who accept their admission offer can proceed to print and obtain their admission letters.

β€’ Candidates who reject an outstanding offer will have their JAMB dashboard updated to β€œNot Admitted,” enabling JAMB to update its admission records.

β€’ If you are no longer studying at the institution where the old admission was offered, or you have moved to another programme, you may first accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the relevant correction or deletion of the admission.

β€’ Candidates currently pursuing a second degree who still have an earlier unaccepted admission may reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.

β€’ Candidates who have secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise but still have an older admission pending should not panic. They can reject the previous offer, and this will not affect their 2026 admission.

πŸ“’ According to JAMB, the extension is intended to provide affected candidates with a final opportunity to regularise their outstanding admission decisions and enable the Board to maintain accurate admission records.

⚠️ 𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 ππŽπ“π„: There will be NO further extension after Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

After the deadline, any outstanding admission offer from 2021 to date that has neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be updated to β€œNot Admitted” in JAMB’s records.

πŸ‘‰ All affected candidates are strongly advised to check their admission status and take the necessary action as soon as possible instead of waiting until the final day.

❗ πˆπŒππŽπ‘π“π€ππ“: Failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period may result in the offer becoming invalid.
πŸ“’ UPDATE: JAMB REMOVES BIOMETRIC REQUIREMENT FOR O’LEVEL RESULT UPLOADING TO JAMB PORTAL

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has removed the biometric requirement for O’Level result uploading.

This means candidates can now upload their WAEC, NECO, or other approved O’Level results to their JAMB profile without visiting a CBT centre solely for biometric verification.

The development is expected to make the O’Level uploading process easier, faster, and more convenient for candidates.

Candidates who are yet to upload their O’Level results are advised to do so as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary delays during the admission process.

JAMB said there would be an upgrade in the portal which will make candidates unable to print out their admission letters or JAMB result slips until the upgrade and maintenance is over...

JAMB CLARIFY O'LEVEL RESULTS UPLOAD REQUIREMENTπŸ“

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that candidates who already uploaded their O’Level results to the central portal are exempt from uploading them a second time.
Addressing widespread concerns regarding the newly implemented O’Level result verification system, the examination body issued the clarification via its official X handle on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

JAMB confirmed that any applicant whose records were submitted prior to the rollout of the new verification framework does not need to re-upload their credentials.

Consequently, candidates are urged to avoid unnecessary panic and rely exclusively on verified directives issued directly by JAMB concerning the ongoing verification exercise.

πŸ“’ 2027 UTME Facial Verification

JAMB plans to introduce Facial Biometric Verification (FBV) for the 2027 UTME, in partnership with NIMC.

Candidates will be verified using live facial recognition through a camera, with the result checked against NIMC records.

Fingerprints will still be used initially, but JAMB plans to phase them out within 2–3 years.

Facial verification will eventually replace OTP-based verification.

The process will be touchless, faster and more convenient, using standard cameras on phones, tablets and computers.

It is expected to reduce problems caused by damaged, wet, dirty or worn fingerprints.

JAMB also expects it to reduce unverified candidates, examination rescheduling and related frustrations.

The system is intended to improve exam security while also reducing the spread of germs through shared biometric equipment.

In short: JAMB is moving toward a camera-based, touchless identity verification system for UTME candidates, with fingerprints gradually being phased out.
JAMB and WAEC have introduced a one-off N4,000 fee for candidates to verify their WASSCE O’Level results for Nigerian tertiary institution admissions.
According to a joint statement from Abuja, candidates will pay once through the official JAMB Verification Service platform, which then shares the validated results with their chosen institutions. Both examination bodies emphasized that payments must be made strictly on the designated JAMB portal and candidates will not be charged again by individual institutions.
