Tardigrades ("water bears") do not ingest microplastics, according to a new survey of similarly sized invertebrates on the coast of Brazil. All other species in the study did consume microplastics.

🚢 The Soviet Komsomolets (K-278) nuclear-powered attack submarine, lost in 1989 and now resting at 5,511 feet in the Norwegian Sea, contains two nuclear weapons and a leaking nuclear reactor.

🌊 A 2019 study by Norwegian researchers found that while there is an active leak of radioactive material from a ventilation pipe, it is not currently impacting marine life or the local environment due to rapid dilution in seawater.

🛡️ Early 1990s Russian efforts to seal the submarine's exposed areas with titanium plugs and plating have proven effective, with no evidence of plutonium from the warheads found in the torpedo compartment.
