🧠 A study from the University of Michigan reveals cumulative lead exposure significantly increases dementia risk in older Americans. Individuals with the highest bone lead levels have nearly 3 times the risk of Alzheimer's and over twice the risk of all-cause dementia.

💀 Bone lead, acting as a long-term record of exposure, is a much stronger predictor of dementia risk than current blood lead levels, as stored lead can migrate to the brain with age.

💡 Researchers estimate that approximately 18% of new dementia cases in the U.S. annually may be linked to historical lead exposure, suggesting nearly 90,000 cases could be preventable.
