💡 Escaping absolute poverty has been shown to boost adult cognitive abilities, including factual knowledge and abstract reasoning, according to a new study on China's Targeted Poverty Alleviation policy.

📈 The policy, launched nationwide in 2015, improved crystallized intelligence by nearly five points and fluid intelligence by about half a point on average. These gains were linked to improvements in health, increased investment in education, and better job opportunities.

👩‍🏫 Women and individuals with lower levels of education saw larger improvements in crystallized intelligence, while adults with higher education experienced greater gains in fluid intelligence.
