A new approach to cancer vaccination yields more powerful T cells using mRNA vaccines. In studies in mice, the mRNA cancer vaccine completely eradicate most tumors, including bladder cancer, colon carcinoma, melanoma, and metastatic lung cancer. Read Full…
✨ MIT engineers have developed a new mRNA adjuvant that supercharges T-cell responses, showing promise for more powerful cancer vaccines and stronger protection against infectious diseases.
🔬 In mouse studies, this new adjuvant, delivered via lipid nanoparticles to the spleen, led to the complete eradication of most tumors, even without specific cancer antigens, and significantly boosted T-cell responses to influenza and Covid-19 vaccines by 10-15 fold.
🧬 This advance uses mRNA to encode genes (IRF8 and NIK) that reprogram immune cells internally, creating a more potent and durable anti-tumor response and potentially improving the effectiveness of existing cancer immunotherapies like checkpoint inhibitors.
