Scientists develop microscopic, wireless implants covered with living cells 🧬 (to avoid body’s immune system) that are injected into blood vessels 🩸, travel to cross the blood-brain barrier 🧠 while leaving it intact, and autonomously self-implant in the brain in mice 🐭, to provide treatment without surgery.

Lab-grown retinal cells show promise for new eye therapies: « Critical cells that line retinal blood vessels grown from stem cells restore retinal function in mouse models and form retinal tissue in a lab for future disease studies. » Read Full Article …
🔬 Duke University biomedical engineers have successfully grown specialized blood vessel cells critical for retinal health from human stem cells (iPSCs) for the first time.

🩹 When injected into mouse models of retinal disease, these "retinal endothelial cells" helped regenerate blood vessels and restore vision.

🧪 Researchers also demonstrated these lab-grown cells can form functional retinal vascular tissue, offering a new pathway for disease modeling and research.
