✅ What it is ?
- A major Pre-Pottery Neolithic archaeological site.
- One of the 12 settlements in Türkiye’s Taş Tepeler (Stone Hills) project.
- Considered among the earliest ritual–residential complexes.
✅ Located in :
- Near the Syrian border
✅ Features :
- Dates to around 9400–8000 BCE; inhabited for about 1,500 years.
- Built on a limestone plateau between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
- Includes residential structures, ritual enclosures, and T-shaped monoliths
- Represents one of the earliest symbolic and communal societies, before the spread of agriculture.
✅ Major Discoveries :
- First human face carved on a T-shaped pillar.
- Stone figurines: stitched-lip sculptures, expressive stone faces, serpentinite beads.
- Anthropomorphic pillars with carved arms, hands, belts, and fur garments.
- Multiple animal–human hybrid carvings.
- Evidence of an organised society with strong symbolic and ritual practices.

- Smallest inhabited island of Lakshadweep, part of the Amindivi subgroup.
- A tiny coral atoll known for ecological fragility, rich lagoon systems, and cultural value.
✅ Location :
- Arabian Sea, west of Kochi.
- Positioned north of Perumal Par and southeast of Byramgore Reef in the Lakshadweep archipelago.
✅ Formation :
- Formed as a coral atoll from the upward growth of coral reefs on submerged volcanic bases.
- Reef-building over millennia created a ring-shaped lagoon, with sandy islets emerging on the reef platform.
✅ Geological Features :
- Consists of two islands:
Main Bitra Island
Small southern cay
- Protected by a surrounding coral reef, ensuring calm, sheltered lagoon waters.

Called Senkaku by Japan, Diaoyu by China, and Diaoyutai by Taiwan.
- Japan currently administers islands.
- Located in East China Sea, near Japan, China, and Taiwan.
- Consist of five small uninhabited islands and several rocks; Uotsuri is the largest.
✅ Strategic Importance :
- A 1969 UN report indicated possible hydrocarbon reserves (oil and gas) beneath islands.
- This increased their geopolitical and economic value, intensifying territorial disputes.
✅ Historical Background :
- 1895: Japan took control of Taiwan and Senkaku Islands after First Sino-Japanese War.
- China argues Japan illegally seized islands.
- 1945 (Post–WWII): The US took administrative control under 1951 Treaty of Peace.
- 1971: The US returned Okinawa and Senkaku Islands to Japan under Okinawa Reversion Agreement.
- China & Taiwan protested handover, claiming historical rights.
- Japan maintains their claims emerged only after the discovery of potential hydrocarbons.
