Solution to Today's CSAT PYQ

Q63 - pure elimination.

Statement 1 says progress is "slow". Passage says income is "unchanged" (which means zero progress, not slow).

So 1 is out and Options B & C eliminated.

Statement 2 says leaders "stagnate".

Passage only says followers catch up, doesn't say leaders stop growing.

Statement 2 is out so Option D is eliminated.

Ans is A.

Didn't even need to read 3 & 4.

โ€‹Q64 is classic UPSC wordplay.

Statement 1 says it divides "nations" into 3 phases.

Look at the text, it divides "economic eras" into 3 phases.

So 1 is out and Option D eliminated.

Statement 2 says the gap is "between labour and productivity".

Text says it's the gap with the technology leader (meaning gap between countries).

So 2 is out and Options A & B eliminated.

Ans is C.

Saved time not reading Statement 3 or doing the math for that 4 million year trap in Statement 4.

Day 20 Sleepy CSAT PYQ Series Today, we will be looking at a Maths question. We alternate between RC, LR and Quant PYQs in this series. Try to solve it. Solutions will be provided later today.
Solution to Today's CSAT PYQ

We can see the function is same on both sides of the inequality for both statements.

The actual way to solve this would be to create a function f(t) and then find it's differential f'(t) and then according to that we can tell if the function is decreasing or increasing in the range of 1/3 to 2.

But that would make it a very lengthy solution

Also most of us won't remember the quotient rule of differential equations that is required for statement 2.

Instead just put values and check statement 1

And for statement 2 just derive the inequality.

But we should know that inequality flips when taking reciprocal
