Hi all, Today is Day 7 of our CSAT PYQ series. We have an RC question today based on Deflation. Try to solve it.. Solution later today
Solution of today's CSAT RC PYQ.
Statement 1 is Correct:
The passage explicitly states"If oil prices fall, output prices do not and quantities remain the same, real value added should not change."
Statement 2 is Incorrect:
The passage says that "Most countries use a method called 'double deflation'" but points out that India uses the same deflator for inputs and outputs.
Therefore, it is not a universally adopted practice by all economies.
Correct Answer: (a) 1 only

The biggest threat to Indian agriculture isn't climate change or failing monsoons.
It’s a ₹1.71 LAKH CRORE government policy that is inadvertently destroying our soil.
Welcome to 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗽.
Here is why the system is broken and how to fix it:
𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹
Absolute self-reliance in urea production to shield from global shocks.
𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹 & 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀
• 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝘆: Flat-rate subsidies bloated the urea burden past ₹1.71 lakh crore this year alone.
• 𝗦𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Skewed nutrient policies created a toxic N:P:K ratio of 9.8:3:1 (recommended is 4:2:1).
• 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗩𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: High dependence on imported LNG makes up 60–80% of production costs.
𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
• 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹:
Stop reimbursing manufacturers.
Shift to Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) to farmers.
• 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴:
Bite the political bullet. Raise urea prices to curb over-usage.
Agriculture needs a systemic upgrade, not a blank check.

Can you impeach a judge who has already left office?
𝐂𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐝:
A metaphor for a pointless, performative trial of someone who is already "gone" (has resigned).
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭:
Parliament cannot "impeach" a judge who has already resigned, as there is no longer an office to remove them from.
𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐭:
A judge’s resignation is official the moment they decide to quit; it requires no outside approval.
𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Parliament's legal power to hold a trial ends immediately upon the judge's resignation.
𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬: Parliament is restricted from debating judicial conduct unless actively removing a sitting judge and criminal acts by former judges should be handled by regular courts.

Kal socio offline batch mein i asked a few gs questions to students and they didn’t know… a lot of them have been preparing for a couple of years.. got me thinking, bohot kuchh karna hai.. like bohot kuchh.. ke vast majority students keep preparing in an unstructured way… and saal ke saal beet jaate hain… and then kuchh nahin hota… and then they wonder why… yesterday shook me… those were conventional gs questions.. one from history and one from internal security… made me realise vast majority preparing on their own, is literally not able to do it right.. then i thought ke basic basic cheezein poochh kar i might be able to tell them all ke you are not doing right but, karna kya hai yeh still unnhe pataa nahin chalega kabhi… i’m sorry to say but vast majority is just spending time preparing.. but not preparing 🙏

India is spending a massive ₹37,500 CRORE to turn domestic coal into industrial gold and slash imports.
But there’s a serious climate catch...
𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞:
Convert domestic coal/lignite into critical industrial feedstocks (urea, methanol, ammonia) to slash import dependence.
𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞:
₹37,500-crore scheme aiming for 7.5 crore tonnes of coal gasification by 2030.
𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭:
Expected to attract ₹2.5–₹3.0 lakh crore in investments and create 50,000 jobs.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞:
Massive carbon footprint. Extracting hydrogen from coal emits twice the CO2 of natural gas.
𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭:
Mandatory, large-scale CCUS (Carbon Capture) to neutralize 5.5–6 crore tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭:
A high-stakes balancing act between securing energy independence and meeting global climate goals.
