What happens when our endless digital lives start consuming more electricity and water than our actual cities?
𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
The 2026 Union Budget proposes a 20-year tax holiday for foreign cloud providers to position India as a global digital data traffic hub.
𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝:
Massive AI investments by companies like Google and Amazon are driving projected electricity demand from data centres to 26.3 GW by 2031-32.
𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Data centres are adopting direct-to-chip liquid cooling and independent clean energy sources like compact nuclear reactors to counter high water and power consumption.

With 65% of capacity concentrated in Navi Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, the sector faces transmission congestion and strains on the renewable energy grid.

Day 18 Sleepy CSAT PYQ Series Today, we will be looking at a P&C question. We alternate between RC, LR and Quant PYQs in this series. Try to solve it. Solutions will be provided later today.
Solution to Today's CSAT PYQ
This was a basic P&C question.
2 steps.
1) We just consider [QU] to be one entity
2) We should know that when arranging items, if a certain entity is repeated, we divide the total permutations (the numerator) by the factorial of that repetition's frequency.
Here E occurs twice
So we divide by 2!
Answer is 12

Which of the following is often highlighted as a major bottleneck in Parliamentary proceedings?
When the highest temple of democracy works part-time, can we really expect full-time progress for the nation?
𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀
Why is our Parliament working fewer days?
The first Lok Sabha averaged 135 sitting days a year, but today that number has crashed.
To ensure real progress, we need a strict mandate requiring Parliament to meet for at least 120 days annually.
𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁
Are we judging MPs on the wrong scorecard?
Voters often judge MPs on local issues like fixing roads. But an MP’s real job is national policy and oversight.
We must hold them accountable for making laws, not municipal work.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘀
Why do disruptions replace actual debates?
Instead of constructive discussions, Parliament suffers from constant shouting matches, a shrinking Question Hour, and low attendance in the committees where laws are actually reviewed.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀
How do we fix the system?
"Opposition Hour":
Give the opposition dedicated time to set the agenda.
Public Scrutiny:
Mandate public consultation before passing any bills.
Expert Research:
Provide MPs with funded researchers and add specialized experts to standing committees.
𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
Where does your voice fit in?
Parliament shouldn't be a closed fortress. It needs a digital "Citizen's Corner" where voters can easily track MP performance, submit petitions, and stay engaged long after election day.
