Abdu’l-Baha has described how, upon His arrival in the garden, Baha’u’llah declared His station to those of His companions who were present, and announced with great joy the inauguration of the Festival of Ridvan.

Sadness and grief vanished and the believers were filled with delight at this announcement. Although Baha’u’llah was being exiled to far-off lands and knew the sufferings and tribulations which were in store for Him and His followers, yet through this historic Declaration He changed all sorrow into blissful joy and spent the most delightful time of His ministry in the Garden of Ridvan. Indeed, in one of His tablets, He has referred to the first day of Ridvan as the ‘Day of supreme felicity’, and has called on His followers to ‘rejoice, with exceeding gladness’ in remembrance of that day.

On April 17, Jupiter will align with the other three planets, making this a rare four-planet alignment. Mercury will join in, in mid-June, followed by the Moon on June 17. On June 24, all of the other planets of the Solar System–Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus – will join together in an even grander planetary alignment.
"Mercury will be farthest to the east and lower, Venus will be really bright and up above it and to the right, Mars will be orange to the southeast, Jupiter will be to the upper right and then Saturn will be to Jupiter's upper right, a little bit toward the south," Michelle Nichols, director of public observing at Chicago's Adler Planetarium, told Live Science.
Hackle this darkness
Up to the light
Where choreographed oxygen
Embroiders the air
When we're broken we are whole
And when we're whole we're broken
We are the siblings of the sun
Let's step into this beam
Every time you give up
You take away our future
And my continuity and my daughter's
And her daughter's
And her daughter's-bjork
(Wild is your birthright, Love is your Nature. Others will deem it madness. Some will leave you. Seek it anyway.)

"Salvator Soror"
“A healthy woman is much like a wolf: robust, chock-full, strong life force, life-giving, territorially aware, inventive, loyal, roving.”

― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, ‘Women Who Run With The Wolves’.

This painting is an homage to my teacher and curendera, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, whose beautiful and seminal work gave me, and millions of other women, validation and hope in our own wild natures. With every word, we recognized ourselves. Her words made us remember, and long for who and what we were beyond all that was expected of us, or taught though social expectations and mores. For so long, we repressed this shadow aspect of our selves, dutifully trying to shrink our wildness away. Now, we find ourselves longing for it, to learn all that we can about it, embrace it, and strive to align more with it (which increases our own health, and also the health of the planet). As women, we have had to come together and form our own mythos, both as tribe and singularly, and for many of us, the wolf represents that wild within.

I have depicted this ideology in the fashion of how that feels to me, when we align ourselves to our wolf nature. Where we depend upon and love that which is wild within. There is both respect and mutual love, without overpowering the other. There is space enough on the canvas, and in this world, for both.

I find it incredibly synchronous that the world has even come to see the wolf differently. For decades, they were seen as expendable, a scourge and blight, and rewards given for their pelts. In Colorado, where I live, legislation was just passed in the 2020 election to restore the wolves back to the wilderness, as it has long been proven how necessary they are for the great ecological chain of being. And today in the news, it was reported that the birth of the second Wolfpack litter here in Colorado is expected soon. I think that a beautiful synchronicity, and not at all mere coincidence. Wolves and women are forever entwined,

May we honor the sacred in all of its forms, and put aside our arrogance as humans, especially when it comes to both wolves, and our own nature.

Lilith embodies our sovereignty to declare our desires and do what must be done in order to live them out. According to Jewish folklore, Lilith was Adam’s first wife. She was created from the same earth as Adam. So when he expected her to be subservient to him, she refused. Lilith explained to Adam that they were equal– made by God. So when Adam insisted again on her submission, Lilith uttered the divine names and flew away. Supposedly,
Adam sent angels after her to force her to return. But she was with the Archangel Samael, and she desired to remain with him.
Ancient Jewish Midrash, or retellings of biblical stories, portray Lilith as a demon. But contemporary, feminist theologians like Judith Plascow have incorporated women’s experience and women’s voices into traditional texts with their own Midrash. Plascow transforms the fearsome, vilified Lilith into a wise, empowered woman. Lilith embodies the emotional and spiritual aspects of our unconscious or unrealized desires, sensuality, and unbridled sexuality. She owns her body and soul completely. For many women, Lilith is an icon of freedom. Lilith is the first woman. She is the woman who refused to be dominated or defined by anyone or anything outside of her.
When your soul selects her card:
Lilith asks, “What would happen if you leave everything behind?” She wonders what prevents you from getting to experience all that you desire. Is it you? Is it an idea of whom you have to be? Is it society’s definition of what it means to be a woman? Lilith asks the questions that sometimes never fully reach the light of consciousness.
Lilith is unclaimed. She is the ruler of her body and soul and she reminds us that we are too. And not only that, we have a sacred obligation to be the body’s fierce protector. If I am entirely equal to everyone else, to every man, and every angel (like Samael), what would I choose for my life? If I see myself as worthy, as the first woman ever created by the divine what more would I ask for? Am I living the life I desire? Am I actually fulfilled sexually in my current relationship? Are there aspects of my sexuality I haven’t been able to face and voice? Lilith refused to settle. She answered all these questions within her, and took action on the truth she uncovered. Lilith demanded that she meet
with what she really desired. And she’s here to demand that we all do the same. “

She Who Is

"After Hades" was conceived nearing the end of my own Saturn-Pluto conjunction in the 12th house (not unlike the cosmic energies present on earth at this time). The thing about synodic cycles (and I'll cover this more in a separate post) is that they change you. As in really, really change you.
When you align with them - release what doesn't work, surrender to the higher knowledge of why you came here, and have faith in universal forces and beings greater than yourself - then not only do you emerge intact, you rise. However, this work represents the human, mortal coil which has been through some serious change, and has not quite ascended. She is in a resting phase, which is just as necessary. When I think of Inanna's descent, this is what I see just after the galla have revived her from death, long before any blazing glory. In a liminal/revival state.
From a Jungian perspective, it is part of the archetypal myth of the journey each individual must take to reach wholeness. Through her descent into darkness, the shedding of the trappings of her former self, confrontation with her `shadow’, death of who she was, and final re-birth, she becomes a complete individual, wholly aware. But this work represents that liminal space between realms (which surprisingly, so few ever mention).
Instead, revival and resurrection appear in our culture as instantaneous, as in one moment death and then BOOM the glorified body appears. Women know better. I speak of labor and birth, literally yes, but also for those who have never had children, understanding it from a space of womb. One needs time to recuperate the journey between worlds and states.
So the figure here, which is Inanna and every woman, bears the marks and scars (which if observed closely are branches of beingness, and a sign of her oneness with Nature and mortality more than injury). The moon serves as the archetypal principle which guides and illumines, even though it is not yet perfected. Nevertheless, it is present and powerful. The colors still reflect the war she has emerged from, but there are pinks and peaches and violets which bring forth the promise of hope. I know it's uplifting to paint only pretty things, but I am not that, rather being more driven to capture truth (a least as much, and in my way).
Which is all to say that this is largely what we are all going through now as a culture. I have faith that we emerge completed on the other side (at least until the next cycle), but entreat you to be kind to this time and space of not-quite-there-yet.
In other words, it's OK to be limp, wrung-out, uncertain, confused, exhausted and simply waiting.
I would expect no less, for Lo, we are deep and hold the keys, and know that we know that we know.
