There are several states that will redo their congressional maps in response to the Supreme Court decision that racial gerrymandering is unconstitutional.

Alabama will become the latest state to enter the mid-decade redistricting fight after Gov. Kay Ivey said Friday she will call lawmakers back to Montgomery for a special session. The move comes just days after the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 6-3 ruling, struck down Louisiana’s second majority-black congressional district after determining that the use of race in forming congressional districts is unconstitutional.

Yesterday I was able to go to Voices of a Nation at Davis County School District. Kids of all ages gave speeches and did performances to celebrate America 250!
This girl was dressed as Deborah Sampson (1760–1827).
She was a Massachusetts woman who disguised herself as a man to serve in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, becoming the first woman and the only woman to receive a full military pension for her service in that conflict.
This girl dressed up as Margaret Cochran Corbin (1751–1800). During the Battle of Fort Washington on November 16, 1776, she stepped up to man a cannon after her husband, John Corbin, was killed by Hessian fire. She continued firing until she was severely wounded by grapeshot, which destroyed her left arm and damaged her chest and jaw.
We had a visit from Paul Revere.

I loved this performance! We have a lot of great youth ready to stand for America and keep it strong.
Here is the recording of the Citizen Zoom call from Monday, May 4th. It was very interesting. Thank you to everyone that joined. 💗

Phil Lyman was on my Zoom call on Monday. He shared an interesting story. Michael Clara had been told by a citizen that Spencer Cox's signatures were being investigated because the investigator had talked to her and given her a card with the case number. Michael requested through GRAMA more information about the investigation and he was told by the AG's office that there was no investigation. Then one day he went to get his mail and a whistle blower had sent him the information about the investigation which was 200 pages. Because of that they went back to the judge and Phil's lawsuit has been reopened.
This is going to be a great conference!
It was fun to see Rep Whyte at Voices of a Nation!
I was so impressed with this folk band from Viewmont High.
It is great to see all the ways America 250 is being celebrated.
On the Zoom call on Monday we talked about SB 153 that was passed last session. The issue we have in Utah is our voter rolls are not transparent or accessible because so many citizens have been put in the private or withheld category without them even knowing. If we want clean elections we need clean voter rolls. This bill will place voters in the public category unless they show that they qualify to be private or withheld. When someone is in the public category their name, address, and party affiliation are public. This information is already public through the county.
This was a very important bill.
My parents were both high school teachers. My mom talked several times about how top heavy the education system was with too many administrative positions. I do not understand why administrators get paid so much more than the teachers in the classrooms working with the kids. It is such a difficult job. The teachers should be getting paid the higher salaries.
