One of MIDA 's project is the Box Elder County Data Center. The citizens tried to do a referendum and they were told they couldn't. Why was that? The answer is that MIDA is not under the jurisdiction of the cities or the counties. MIDA becomes the sole land use authority and exercises exclusive police power just like a municipality would in the area where they have projects. This is a carve out of our Constitutional Republic. MIDA is gutting the power of the people and that is why the citizens could not do a referendum. MIDA is its own government.

This is another important win! Those opposed act as if the agencies are independent. They are part of the executive branch. Great job by the Supreme Court for correcting this.

Look at this statement from the article below. The developer is saying that without the PID the houses will be more expensive. Let's review what a PID does. It allows the developer to shift the cost of the infrastructure onto the homeowners. Before the PID bill was passed in Utah in 2019 the developers had to finance the infrastructure themselves. Let me be very clear. PIDs make houses MORE expensive because the homeowner has a PID tax in addition to the property tax.
