Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result. That is what is going on with embracing socialism. Socialism in all its flavors have been tried over and over again all with the same result of human suffering.

I went to a Town Hall meeting with four of our house reps in Sandy today.
Rep Cal Roberts said that Utah has been the fastest growing state for the past twenty years. Shout out to Rep Roberts for taking on MIDA this next session on behalf of the tax payers.
Speaker Schultz talked about reform of higher education. He said at the University of Utah there were 81 programs that had one graduate or less. Their higher education budget was reduced by 10%. There is a focus on programs that lead to reliable jobs at completion. I am grateful the legislature is addressing this.
I was able to make a comment about what I posted last night about MIDA and the fact that the board members are allowed to make money as they facilitate the MIDA public private partnerships. This is such an important thing for citizens to understand. It certainly highlights the corruption within MIDA.

63H-1-202(9)The authority or a subsidiary acting in the role of a facilitator under Subsection 63H-1-201(3)(v) is not prohibited from receiving a benefit from a public-private partnership that results from the facilitator’s work as a facilitator.

MIDA should have a specific code section that prevents board members from using their position to personally benefit financially.
We are so lucky to have Rep Tracy Miller in the legislature. She has the courage to vote no when there hasn't been adequate time to study a bill. She is really voting against the problematic system we have during the session when so many bills are moving through without time for appropriate vetting. The last week of the session the rules are suspended and each bill only gets one committee hearing instead of two. She is a natural leader and has the courage to push back against the system. If more legislators were like her we wouldn't have the significant problems we have right now with MIDA and PIDs. So many bills were pushed through with a lot of legislators not fully aware of what was in them.
Over one billion in bond debt for this MIDA project. Who pays this debt? The answer is tax payers. Who keeps the profits for this ski development? The answer is Extell the developer based in New York. Utah citizens must understand that the tax payers are being robbed blind while the developer smiles all the way to the bank. This MUST be stopped. This is my organization's number one priority.

My husband took this beautiful picture on his hike. Fall is so beautiful. 🍁🍂
This should be very informative!
High Priority Talking Point 9/29 - 10/10! Please send to state legislators.

There needs to be a deeper investigation into the Governor's Office of Economic Development. If tax dollars cannot be confirmed used properly the money needs to be returned or appropriate charges filed for the misuse of tax dollars.

I am so grateful for Mike! Our 26th wedding anniversary was today. I told him I am the luckiest girl in the world.
This is the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Wasatch County. Did you know that tax dollars are paying for yurts, ski racks, snow making equipment, ski patrol huts and more? This is allowed because the definition of public infrastructure has been changed in the Utah code to include privately owned buildings and facilities. This is the exploitation of the Utah tax payer.
Follow for more details and a bill that will fix this in the 2027 session.
The legislative audit released a couple of weeks ago concluded it could not "consistently demonstrate" how some recipients of grant funding spent almost a quarter billion dollars, "or if those funds achieved the expected outcomes." Don't the following recommendations seem like basic accounting 101? This is not OK to the tax payers. It isn't OK to take this kind of tax money and dispense it like gum from a gumball machine without proper accounting.

The audit made these recommendations to the Governor's Office of Economic Development:

1.1 Leadership at GOED should appropriately prioritize pass-through oversight to ensure the following:
• Initial grant budgets are documented before initial funds are disbursed.

• Final reports meet statutory requirements before final funds are disbursed.

• Grantees provide required financial reports to the State Auditor.
