🎼9 January 1967. Happy 55th Birthday 🥳🍾 to Dave Matthews, born David John Matthews in Johannesburg, South Africa.
A great story behind 👉 He started writing rock songs very young, when he moved to the USA he worked as a barman. One of his regulars and friend listened to his songs in 1991 and convinced Dave to start a musical career, though he was too shy to perform on stage. #DaveMatthews was soon joined by session musicians to record his music... the #DaveMatthewsBand started as a jam rock band, in late 60s / early 70s style! 🎸🎷🥁🎻🎹
Their debut album Under the Table and Dreaming came out in 1994 and when it entered the US charts selling some 6 million copies 😳... Dave Matthews realized his friend was right 🤟
Dave Matthews Band (shortened #DMB) never lost their Jam band origin and approach, as this stunning live performance testifies👇😱👏

"Standing here
The old man said to me
Long before these crowded streets
Here stood my dreaming tree
Below it he would sit
For hours at a time
Now progress takes away
What forever took to find"
