📜 Bergamo has been under Venice domination since 1428 until the 👉 end of the Republic. Signs of the Venetian presence can be found all over the old town on the hill (Bergamo Alta), the ancient walls surrounding it are known as "Mura Venete" (Venetian Walls) and are today Unesco World Heritage.

One of biggest statues here in Venice in Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo☝️represents Bartolomeo Colleoni from #Bergamo, one of the most important army leader of the Venetian Republic (the generals who fought for the Republic in the mainland had not to be born or raised in Venice by law).
