🚨 Blockstream rejects $50M bounty demand from Liquid hacker

Blockstream has officially refused to pay a 600 BTC bounty, worth roughly $50 million, to the attacker who exploited the Liquid network on Sept. 6. The company stated it will not establish a precedent where developers are forced to pay demands that exceed their economic participation.

The attacker originally minted 4,000 unbacked L-BTC and withdrew 3,996 real BTC. After Blockstream patched the vulnerability, the hacker returned 3,400 BTC but demanded a 10% bounty to return the remaining 15% shortfall.

CEO Adam Back confirmed that Blockstream will instead pursue the remaining funds through law enforcement, exchanges, and forensic specialists. The company assured users that the L-BTC to BTC peg will ultimately be covered 1:1.

🚨 Symbiosis Bitcoin Bridge Exploited: Trillions in Fake syBTC Minted

Cross-chain protocol Symbiosis has paused its native Bitcoin Bridge following a major exploit on September 11. An attacker exploited a vulnerability in the BridgeV2 system to mint 2^62 units of syBTC, a synthetic version of Bitcoin, on the BNB Chain.

Security firm Blockaid reports the attacker has already converted some assets, realizing approximately $336,000 in WBTC on Ethereum. Symbiosis confirmed it has recovered 15 BTC so far, which is currently secured in a team-controlled multisig wallet.

While the native bridge remains offline, Bitcoin swaps via partners Chainflip and THORChain are operational. Other routes on EVM chains, TRON, and TON were not affected by the breach.

🚨 Cosmos Hub Validators Intercept 1.23 Million Stolen ATOM

Cosmos Hub validators successfully secured 1,227,121 ATOM stolen during a Sept. 22 governance attack on the Neutron network. The attacker had moved roughly 1.73 million ATOM to the Hub before validators intervened to freeze the assets.

To stop the thief, validators representing over 67% of voting power halted the blockchain and applied an emergency software patch, v28.3.0. This one-time state change diverted the funds from the attacker’s address to a secure recovery multisig wallet before transactions resumed.

The intercepted funds are currently held by six signers, including Nansen, Keplr, and Polkachu. However, the signers have stated they will not release the assets to affected users or protocols until a separate Cosmos Hub governance signaling proposal is officially passed.

🚨 Nearly 5,000 BTC leaves Bitget as hackers begin laundering $387M haul

Bitget has reopened Bitcoin withdrawals following a massive $387.5 million security breach. Since the restart, tracked reserves have dropped by approximately 4,642 BTC, worth roughly $391 million at current prices.

CEO Gracy Chen confirmed the exchange processed over 9,500 withdrawal orders totaling 4,098 BTC shortly after resuming service. The hack was traced to compromised credentials from a third-party vendor, which allowed attackers to bypass internal risk controls.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT reports that hackers, allegedly linked to North Korea, are already laundering the stolen funds. The assets are being moved through THORChain, Wasabi, and various cross-chain bridges to obscure the trail and prevent recovery.

🚨 Bitget Hackers Turn to Zcash After $50M Laundering Route Blocked

Hackers behind the $387.5 million Bitget breach are now using Zcash (ZEC) privacy features to move stolen funds. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT flagged 2,746 ZEC worth roughly $3.9 million being moved into the Ironwood shielded pool, which conceals transaction details from public view.

This shift follows a failed attempt to move $50 million through the NEAR protocol. While NEAR’s risk system blocked most of those transactions, the hackers successfully used THORChain to swap $79 million worth of ETH for Bitcoin. THORChain has resisted requests to block the stolen assets.

🚨 Scammer Loses $4.8M in Bitcoin to Ledger Supply Chain Hack

Chainalysis has revealed that a mastermind behind a massive "task scam" became a victim of the recent Ledger hardware wallet breach. The individual lost 60 BTC, worth approximately $4.8 million, which they had originally stolen from victims through fake sales and review schemes.

The scammer moved the illicit Bitcoin into three separate Ledger addresses on September 22. On October 9, a different group of hackers emptied all three wallets in a single transfer. This irony highlights the severity of the security breach affecting Ledger users who purchased devices from specific resellers.

🚨 Railway Security Breach: $371,000 Crypto Theft Alleged

Cloud deployment platform Railway has urged all users to reset their credentials following a security breach discovered on Oct 21. Attackers reportedly accessed encrypted environment variables, which may include API keys, database credentials, and private registry secrets.

On-chain investigator alleges that the exploit has already resulted in the theft of approximately $371,000 in cryptocurrency. The losses span at least 19 EVM chains, with the investigator identifying a specific attacker address linked to keys stored on the platform.

Railway has invalidated all existing API tokens and temporarily paused deployments to contain the threat. The company believes the incident is part of a wider campaign targeting AI inference providers to compromise their infrastructure.

🚨 Binance hit by $6.3 billion hack linked to North Korea

Binance has confirmed a massive security breach resulting in the theft of approximately $6.3 billion in assets. The exchange has paused all withdrawals for 48 hours while it revamps its security systems. Deposits remain operational.

Chainalysis, TRM Labs, and the FBI have linked the attack to the North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor. Investigators found that funds were commingled with a previous Bitget exploit via THORChain, suggesting the same state-sponsored actor is responsible.

The breach reportedly started through a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, allowing attackers to manipulate the exchange's transaction-signing infrastructure. Binance stated there is no evidence that wallet private keys were leaked.

🚨 CFTC Chair Pushes for US Oversight After $6.4 Billion Binance Hack

CFTC Chairman Michael Selig is using the record-breaking $6.4 billion exploit of Binance to argue for federal oversight of offshore crypto exchanges. Speaking to CNBC, Selig stated that the lack of US-style safeguards on unregulated platforms is the "real issue" and proposed a "federal option" for registration and cybersecurity standards.

The hack, tied by TRM Labs and Chainalysis to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group, is the largest in crypto history. While Binance initially blamed a single compromised laptop, CEO Richard Teng now describes a more complex attack that involved multiple breach points beyond one engineer's permissions.

🚨 Binance hit by record $6.3B hack; Trump and US politicians react

Binance has suffered the largest heist in crypto history, with hackers stealing $6.3 billion in less than four hours. The exchange confirmed it will absorb all losses, ensuring users are not financially impacted.

Approximately $3 billion of the stolen funds have already been frozen across various locations. The hack is widely attributed to a North Korean group. The FBI and Secret Service have officially joined the response and investigation.

This event has sparked intense political debate ahead of the Nov. 3 US election. Senator Cynthia Lummis blamed the failure of the Clarity Act for the delay in freezing funds, while Representative Maxine Waters called for stricter accountability and questioned past ties between Donald Trump and Binance.

🚨 FBI blames North Korea for record $6.3B Binance hack

The FBI has officially attributed a massive $6.3 billion cryptocurrency theft from Binance to North Korea. The hack, which occurred this past Thursday, is linked to a malicious cyber group the agency identifies as TraderTraitor.

Investigators report that the hackers are currently converting the stolen digital assets primarily into Ether (ETH). The FBI warns that the group is moving into advanced laundering stages, utilizing DeFi protocols and instant swap services to hide the trail of the funds.

Private sector entities, including THORNode operators, RPC node operators, and blockchain analytics firms, have been urged to block transactions linked to a specific list of addresses. This record-breaking theft highlights a growing trend where the North Korean regime uses crypto exploits to fund its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

🚨 Suspected EU Crypto Theft Hits $133 Million

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has increased the estimated loss from a suspected hack of an unidentified European Union entity to $133 million. This follows the discovery of an additional $27 million in exchange withdrawals, some occurring after the initial report.

The investigator believes a large financial institution in Western Europe was exploited and is currently covering up the incident. This lack of disclosure allegedly allowed attackers to launder over $30 million that could have been frozen by law enforcement.

Data shows $62.98 million in stablecoins were converted into 27,553 ETH within four hours. The attacker is reportedly swapping funds into ETH and Monero (XMR) using instant exchanges and cross-chain bridges to hide the trail.
