🗓🗓 BASIC FACTS & TIMELINE

✔️ Start Date: March 30, 1924.
✔️ End Date: November 23, 1925 (Lasted 603 days).
✔️ Venue: Vaikom Mahadeva Temple, Kottayam (Travancore).
✔️ Main Objective: Right to walk on the public roads surrounding the temple for "Avarnas" (lower castes).

🌟🌟 KEY PERSONALITIES

🔖 Initiator: T.K. Madhavan presented the resolution for temple entry at the 1923 Kakinada Congress Session.
🔖 The "Vaikom Trio": Kunjappy, Bahuleyan, and Venniyil Govinda Panicker.
🔖 K. Kelappan: Known as the "Kerala Gandhi," he was the Secretary of the Satyagraha Committee.
🔖 K.P. Kesava Menon: The President of the Satyagraha Committee.
🔖 George Joseph: A prominent Christian leader who participated (though Gandhi later advised non-Hindus to stay away as it was an internal Hindu reform).
🔖 Ruler of Travancore: Sree Moolam Thirunal (at start); Sethu Lakshmi Bayi (at end)

🚩🚩 MAJOR EVENTS & MILESTONES

🚫 Savarna Jatha (1924): Organized to show support from the upper castes - Led by Mannathu Padmanabhan (from Vaikom to Thiruvananthapuram).
🚫 A parallel Jatha from Vaikom to Thiruvananthapuram was led by Changanassery Parameswaran Pillai.
🚫 Vaikom Satyagraha & Gandhi: Mahatma Gandhi visited Vaikom in March 1925. He held discussions with the Rani Regent Sethu Lakshmi Bayi and the orthodox leader Indanthuruthil Namboothiri.
🚫 E.V. Ramasamy (Periyar): Known as the "Vaikom Hero" (Vaikom Veerar) for his active participation and leadership during the struggle when local leaders were arrested.
🚫 Akali Participation: The Akalis from Punjab came to Vaikom to start a "Suvarna Langar" (community kitchen) to feed the protesters.

📣📣 OUTCOME AND SIGNIFICANCE

🔠 Resolution: The Satyagraha ended with a compromise where three roads around the temple were opened to all, but the eastern road remained closed to Avarnas until later.

🔠 Temple Entry Proclamation: This movement served as a precursor to the historic Temple Entry Proclamation of 1936.
