විෂ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය උවදුර මෙරටින් තුරන් කිරීමේ අරමුණින් ක්‍රියාත්මක “ඉවත්වෙනු” මෙහෙයුමේ වසරක ඇගයුම, ආගමික සමුළුවට අද (05) පස්වරුවේ අරලියගහ මන්දිරයේදී එක්වීමි.

ජාති, ආගම් සහ වයස් භේදයකින් තොරව දරුවන්ගේ සිට වැඩිහිටියා දක්වාත්, සමාජයේ ගෞරවයට සහ වන්දනාවට ලක්වූ ආගමික සංස්ථාවන්ද ඇතුළුව රටේ සියලු ස්තර වෙතත්,විෂ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය උවදුර ව්‍යාප්ත වී ඇති ආකාරය මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නෙමි.

එබැවින්, මෙම විෂ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය උවදුර පරාජය කිරීම අද ජාතිය හමුවේ පැවරී ඇති ප්‍රමුඛ වගකීමක් බව මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළෙමි.‍

රජය ප්‍රමුඛතාව ලබා දෙනු ලබන මෙහෙයුම් සහ අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමේ යාන්ත්‍රණය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමටත්,ඒ වෙනුවෙන් අවශ්‍ය නීතිමය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ සිදු කිරීමටත්, ශක්තිමත් ආයතනික පද්ධතියක් ගොඩනැගීමටත්, කටයුතු කරමින් සිටින අතර, මෙම ව්‍යසනය පරාජය කිරීම සඳහා සමාජය තුළ අවශ්‍ය මතවාදී සහ ආකල්පමය වෙනස ඇති කිරීමේදී ප්‍රධානතම කාර්යභාරයක් ආගමික නායකත්වයට සහ ආගමික සංස්ථාවන්ට පැවරී ඇති බවද සඳහන් කළෙමි.

වසර කිහිපයක් අඛණ්ඩව, නොසැලී මෙම ජාතික ව්‍යායාමයේ නිරත වුවහොත්, මෙම ව්‍යසනයෙන් අපේ ජාතිය මුදා ගැනීමට හැකි වනු ඇතැයි විශ්වාසය පළ කරමින්, අපේ දරුවන්ට අභිමානයෙන්, සුරක්ෂිතව ජීවත් විය හැකි රටක් ගොඩනගා දීම වෙනුවෙන් මෙම ජාතික වැඩපිළිවෙළේ සක්‍රිය පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් වන ලෙස, සියලු ආගමික සංස්ථාවන්ට ගෞරවයෙන් ආරාධනා කළෙමි.

போதைப்பொருள் அச்சுறுத்தலை இந்நாட்டிலிருந்து முற்றாக ஒழிக்கும் நோக்கத்துடன் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்படும் “அகன்று செல்” செயற்பாட்டின் ஒரு வருட மதிப்பீடு, சர்வ மத மாநாட்டில் இன்று (05) பிற்பகல் அலரி மாளிகையில் கலந்துகொண்டேன்.

இன, மத மற்றும் வயது பேதமின்றி சிறுவர்கள் முதல் பெரியவர்கள் வரை, சமூகத்தின் மரியாதைக்குரிய மற்றும் வழிபாட்டுக்குரியவர்கள் உட்பட நாட்டின் அனைத்து இடங்களிலும் போதைப்பொருள் அச்சுறுத்தல் பரவியுள்ள விதம் குறித்து இங்கு சுட்டிக் காட்டினேன்.

எனவே, இந்த போதைப்பொருள் அச்சுறுத்தலை முறியடிப்பது இன்றைய தேசத்தின் முன்பாகச் சுமத்தப்பட்டுள்ள முதன்மையான பொறுப்பாகும் என்பதையும் இங்கு வலியுறுத்தினேன்.

அரசாங்கம் முன்னுரிமை வழங்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளையும் கைது செய்யும் பொறிமுறையையும் வலுப்படுத்துவதற்கும், அதற்குத் தேவையான சட்டரீதியான திருத்தங்களை மேற்கொள்வதற்கும், பலமான நிறுவனக் கட்டமைப்பை உருவாக்குவதற்கும் செயற்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருப்பதுடன், இந்தப் பேரழிவை முறியடிப்பதற்குச் சமூகத்திற்குள் அவசியமான கருத்தியல் மற்றும் மனப்பாங்கு ரீதியான மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்துவதில் பிரதானமான பங்களிப்பு மதத் தலைவர்களுக்கும் மதத் தலங்களுக்கும் உள்ளது என்பதையும் குறிப்பிட்டேன்.

பல வருடங்களாகத் தொடர்ச்சியாக, தளராது இந்த தேசிய முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டால், இந்த பேரழிவிலிருந்து நமது தேசத்தை மீட்க முடியுமென்ற நம்பிக்கையை இங்கு வெளிப்படுத்தியதுடன், நமது பிள்ளைகளுக்குப் பெருமையுடனும் பாதுகாப்பாகவும் வாழக்கூடிய நாட்டை உருவாக்குவதற்காக இந்த தேசியத் திட்டத்தில் தீவிர பங்காளிகளாக மாறுமாறு அனைத்து மதத் தலைவர்களுக்கும் கௌரவமாக அழைப்பு விடுத்தேன்.

I attended the religious conference held this afternoon (05) at Temple Trees to mark the first anniversary of the ‘Quit’ operation, launched with the aim of eradicating the menace of illicit drugs from the country.

I highlighted how the drug menace has spread across all sections of society, irrespective of ethnicity, religion or age, affecting everyone from children to adults, as well as religious institutions that have traditionally been held in high esteem and reverence by society.

I therefore emphasised that defeating this menace is one of the foremost responsibilities facing the nation today.

The Government is taking steps to strengthen operations and law enforcement mechanisms, introduce the necessary legal reforms and establish a robust institutional framework. I also pointed out that religious leaders and institutions have a vital role to play in bringing about the ideological and attitudinal changes needed within society to overcome this national crisis.

Expressing my confidence that sustained and unwavering efforts over several years would enable us to free the nation from this scourge, I respectfully invited all religious institutions to become active partners in this national endeavour to build a country where our children can live with pride and security.
