The sources also confirmed that the Kremlin has "abandoned reliance" on the understandings reached in Alaska between Putin and Trump, leaving both sides "back at square one".
Two sources also claimed the Kremlin believes it has already made concessions throughout the war, and that each has weakened its position without a tangible result.

Netanyahu declares West Bank "our land"
The Israeli prime minister has vowed to annex more territory for Jewish immigrants. Israel will continue building illegal settlements in the West Bank in preparation for a "major" wave of Jewish immigration, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said. Israel's most recent settlement expansion triggered rebukes from its Arab neighbors and Western partners.
"Today, many of our brothers and sisters around the world understand: This is our land and it will remain ours," Netanyahu said in Jerusalem on Tuesday. "And when I say our land, every Jewish man and every Jewish woman, the door is open. We are waiting for you. We are preparing the door for major Aliyah (Jewish immigration to Israel)..."

"I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz," the US commander in chief stated. The president issued a direct warning regarding any attempts to place new explosives in the strategic waterway.
"Iran has been notified that any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed," he continued. "There is a Zero Tolerance policy on mine placement in full force and effect..."

Russia warns British military sites could become targets over Ukrainian strikes
Russia may begin striking British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and beyond if Kiev continues to use UK supplied weapons to attack Russian territory, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned on 27 August.
"We have repeatedly warned that the response to Ukrainian strikes using British weapons against Russian territory could be directed against any British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and beyond," Zakharova said during a press briefing on Thursday.
Her warning came on the day after Ukrainian forces used British French Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles to bomb the Russian controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, wounding at least eight civilians, including two children. She stated that the parties responsible for attacks on Russian civilians will be punished...

China's imports of Iranian oil "largely untouched" by US siege
China has received about 1.2 million barrels of Iranian oil per day this year so far, just a touch less than during the same time in 2025, according to information from industry data provider Kpler, cited by the New York Times (NYT) on 25 August.
According to Muyu Xu, a senior Kpler oil analyst, large quantities of oil are now sitting on ships and in storage tanks near the Malacca Strait and South China Sea. Up to date volumes are difficult to measure because ships have become increasingly skilled at evading detection," Xu was cited as saying by NYT.
The number of barrels of Iranian oil received is only "slightly less" than last year. Due to incessant US sanctions and Chinese oil giants' ties to banks in the west, China's major state oil firms are avoiding buying Iranian energy...

EU seeks to revive scheme to fund Ukraine war by seizing frozen Russian assets
A number of EU states are pressing the European Commission to revive plans to use frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine, warning that money already committed by the bloc will not cover Kiev's needs, the Financial Times (FT) reported on 27 August.
Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Poland are among the countries behind a letter due to be sent to the Commission on Thursday, according to four people briefed on the document.
The letter calls on the EU executive to restart technical work on leveraging over $230 billion in frozen Russian central bank assets, and to report on any progress toward a legal framework that could get around Belgium's veto.
Belgium blocked an earlier version of the plan last October, refusing to sign off over fears it would be left covering the cost alone if Moscow mounted a successful legal challenge...

Israeli court exonerates Jewish settler caught on video assaulting Jerusalem nun
...Israel's Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) said the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ruled that Yona Schreiber - who was caught on camera violently attacking the nun - "suffered a psychotic episode" and therefore was "not responsible" for his actions.
The attacker was briefly arrested and put on trial earlier this year. According to KAN, the court accepted a psychiatrist's assessment as justification for brutally attacking the nun. The report says he has been "acquitted" and that the court ordered he be hospitalized.
"Medical treatment will help him return to optimal functioning," his lawyer was quoted as saying. The lawyer's office said they "understand" the "complainant's distress and wish her well in overcoming the effects of the incident..."

White House designates Palestine Action as "global terrorist organization"
The White House on 26 August designated the UK activist group Palestine Action as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), as part of a campaign to combat what it claims is a wave of "radical left terrorism" across the US and Europe.
Palestine Action was founded in 2020 as a direct action network devoted to the goal of "ending global participation in Israel's genocidal and apartheid regime."
The group is known for its sabotage and vandalism of weapons factories in the UK belonging to Elbit Systems, Israel's largest defense company. Elbit produces drones and other weapons that have played a key role in killing Palestinian civilians in Gaza...

US considers reviving Civil War era "prize courts" to steal Iranian oil
The US Department of Justice is reportedly considering reviving the long dormant US Civil War era "Prize Courts" system to seize Iranian oil tankers and cargoes, according to three sources cited by Bloomberg.
The proposal would revive a maritime legal framework last used during World War II, allowing authorities to seize sanctioned Iranian vessels and cargoes more quickly than under existing civil forfeiture procedures.
Under the plan, proceeds from seized oil could be transferred to the US Treasury to help offset the costs of the war, while the legal mechanism could also strengthen Washington's blockade of Iran. The cases could reportedly be handled through the US Southern District Court of Texas in Houston, a major center for the country’s oil industry...

US Canadian "split" another exercise in public perception management
Again, Canada was long ago politically captured by the US and has served as a US proxy for decades. There is no real "dispute." The daily political circus is there to create pretexts, distractions, and dead ends to manage public perception - creating narratives that can blame others for unpopular decisions already long ago decided upon by the US and an obedient Canadian client regime.
Stop falling for daily narratives told to us by practiced liars - follow the money - and look at who really drives both US AND Canadian policy. We've already watched fake "divides" between the US and its proxies play out and leave the US with even greater leverage and control over them.
From technology, resources, and energy, to media, military, and manufacturing - literally the same US corporations, institutions, and interests driving policy in the US are doing so in Canada (as well as Europe & Australia).

White House blocks Egyptian bank from accessing USD over "Iran ties"
Washington says it is imposing crippling sanctions on all entities transacting with Iran, but no sanctions on China, Tehran's largest trade partner, have been announced.
The US Treasury Department is set to revoke access to the US financial system for branches of an Egyptian bank in the UAE as part of its newest effort to strangle Iran with economic sanctions, the Financial Times (FT) reported on 28 August.
The US Treasury said on Friday that it would target the UAE branches of Egypt's Banque Misr over their business dealings with Iran, cutting off the branches' access to US financial institutions and preventing them from transacting in dollars.
"Treasury promised to sever every economic lifeline Tehran has left and finally end the threat of the Iranian regime," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement shared with FT...

World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on 28 August that thousands of patients across the Gaza Strip have not been evacuated for life saving care due to Israeli restrictions.
Reporting on recent successful evacuations, Tedros said the agency moved 106 patients, among them 19 children, out of Gaza through the Rafah and Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem crossings, putting the number of patients evacuated since October 2023 at over 13,200.
"Thousands more still await medical evacuations," the WHO chief wrote on X, adding that "Medical evacuations give people in need of urgent care a chance of survival. To ensure timely treatment for patients, medical evacuations require sustained access through multiple crossing routes."

US interceptor stocks sink to "beyond critical" levels in Europe following war on Iran
The US military is facing a “beyond critical” shortage of advanced missile interceptors in Europe as a result of the war on Iran, AP reported on 28 August, citing a US defense official and a NATO official.
The defense official said NATO and US forces in Europe are suffering their “most concerning shortfall” of Patriot missile interceptors.
The shortage means European nations would have difficulty defending themselves in the event of ballistic missile attacks from Russia, such as on a military headquarters or power plant, AP noted.
NATO is currently engaged in a proxy war with Russia through Ukraine, which regularly suffers from such Russian attacks due to its own shortage of missile interceptors.
The US defense official said NATO could be forced “to take punch after punch in the mouth,” in the way that Ukraine often does.
