A portrait on Henri Fenet - "Treu bis zuletzt"
Born on November 6th, 1919 in Ceyzeriat, Ain, Henri Joseph Fenet is one of the most famous French volunteers in the Waffen-SS, mainly for his actions during the Battle of Berlin and being one of the very lasts soldiers to be awarded the Kinghts Cross.
Prior to the war, he studied literature at the University of Paris. Lieutenant in the French army in 1940, he was taken prisoner and released in 1942, where he joined the French Milice.
In October 1943, he volunteered for service in the Elite and was sent to the SS school at Bad Tölz. In March 1944 he received the rank of Obersturmführer and was given command of a company of the newly formed Sturmbrigade Frankreich. With them he fought against the Red Army in Galicia, where he was wounded and received the Iron Cross 2nd class.
In September 1944, Fenet and his company were sent to Konitz to join other Frenchmen and form the 33rd Waffen-SS division "Charlemagne". Fenet was named the commander of a battalion, which he led until April 1945. With them he fought in Pomerania and in Berlin.
On 23 April 1945, about 350 men from the Charlemagne choosed to go fight in Berlin. The unit was reorganized into the Sturmbatallion Charlemagne and was attached to the SS Division Nordland. In the days which followed, fighting was very heavy and by 28 April, 108 Soviet tanks had been destroyed in the southeast of Berlin. The French squads under the command of Fenet accounted for about half of the tanks.
Later, they withdrew to the central government district under the command of Wilhelm Mohnke, and fought a few meters away from the Reich Chancellery and the Führerbunker. For the success of the battalion during the battle, Henri was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 29 April 1945 by Mohnke. On 2 May, he surrendered to British forces, who handed him over to the French government, who sentenced him to 20 years in prison in 1949. He was released only 10 years later and died peacefully in 2002.

PLASTIC SURGERY: CIAO MAX

Ci mettemmo seduti e davanti a noi.
Mille stelle in cielo splendevano. Alti alberi tutti intorno a noi.
Dolci canti antichi suonavano. Piccolo Attila parlava a noi.
Avanzaron ghignando sicuri già d'inseguire schiene nude.
