جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الْكَعْبَةَ الْبَيْتَ الْحَرَامَ قِيَامًا لِّلنَّاسِ وَالشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ وَالْهَدْيَ وَالْقَلَائِدَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ ۝٩٧

With Islam they became the symbols of their Hajj, their rituals, and the direction of the prayer.
﴾.i.e., the Ka'bah in Makkah.﴿

Allah says;
O people, I made these symbols an asylum for you, so that you know that He Who made these symbols that benefit your life and provide you with security, also knows everything in the heavens and earth that brings about your immediate or eventual benefit. Know that He has perfect knowledge of everything and that none of your deeds or affairs ever escapes His observation;

﴿ تَقَبَّلَ اللهُ مِنَّا وَمِنكُم وَصَالِحَ الأَعْمَال ﴾

May Allah accept from us and from you, and accept the righteous deeds.

It is reported from Ibn ‘Umar and Abu Hurayrah (radiyallāhu ‘anhumā) that they would go out to the market in the ten days making the takbīrs and the people would make takbīrs due to their takbīrs. The Sahābah, ‘Umar (radiyallāhu ‘anhu) and a group of them would make takbīrs after the daily prayers beginning on the day of ‘Arafah until the last day of Tashreeq (13th Dhul-Hijjah).

Takbīr of Ibn Mas’ūd (may Allah be pleased with him)

Utilizing These Ten Days in Carrying Out Righteous Actions – and the Blessing of Knowing Their Great Virtue
 
Shaikh ‘Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) said: “These ten days that are treated with injustice which many of the people are negligent concerning, they pass them by as though they are fleeting days like the days of the rest of the year. Despite there not being any days in which the righteous action is more beloved to Allaah from among the actions than in these ten days from: recitation of the Qur’aan and giving in charity and fasting and other than that from the righteous actions.
So strive hard my brother in these ten days, exert yourself with an abundance of actions.”[9]

The Shaikh said likewise: “These ten days – the merits of which many of the people are ignorant of, and for the one who knows; then he may be careless in giving them their true right by way of striving in carrying out righteous action, therefore since the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said:

مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ العَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ فِيهِنَّ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ العَشْرِ، قَالُوا: وَلَا الجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: وَلَا الجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، إِلَّا رَجُلٌ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِشَيْءٍ
((There are no days wherein the righteous action is more beloved to Allaah than these ten days)) They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, not even Jihaad in the path of Allaah?” so he said: ((Not even Jihaad in the path of Allaah, except for a man who goes out with his person and his wealth, and then he did not return with anything from that.))[10]
 
Consequently it should be that we strive with the utmost exertion in carrying out righteous actions in these ten days, more so than how we strive in the (last) ten days of Ramadhaan, because the hadeeth is general.”[11]

THE DAYS OF TASHREEQ

Verily Allāh (عز و جل) says:

وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
And of them there are some who say:
“Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!

[Surat Al-Baqara : 201]

Many of the Salaf would prefer to say this supplication much throughout the days of Tashreeq (due to the verse mentioned above).

′Iqrima (رحمه الله) said
‘It is preferred that one says this supplication during the days of Tashreeq’.

In explaining the meanings of this verse:
Hasan al Basri (رحمه الله) said  ‘Goodness in this life is knowledge and worship (of Allāh عز و جل) and goodness in the hereafter is paradise’.
‘Sufyan (رحمه الله) said
‘Goodness in this life is knowledge and pure provisions. Goodness in the hereafter is paradise’.
