3 Advantages of Paying Your Bills With Cryptocurrency

The global economy is inevitably moving towards a digital eco-system. From investment to money transfer, everything is going paperless. The newest and most promising addition to the digital payment sector is cryptocurrency.

1. Discretion

Bitcoin purchases are discreet. Unless a user voluntarily publishes his Bitcoin transactions, his purchases are never associated with his personal identity, much like cash-only purchases, and cannot easily be traced back to him. This is not to say that bitcoin transactions are truly anonymous or entirely untraceable, but they are much less readily linked to personal identity than some traditional forms of payment.

2. Peer-to-Peer Focus

The bitcoin payment system is purely peer-to-peer, meaning that users are able to send and receive payments to or from anyone on the network around the world without requiring approval from any external source or authority.

3. Mobile Payments

Like with many online payment systems, bitcoin users can pay for their coins anywhere they have Internet access. This means that purchasers never have to travel to a bank or a store to buy a product. However, unlike online payments made with U.S. bank accounts or credit cards, personal information is not necessary to complete any transaction.

Netflix 'might' be next Fortune 100 firm to buy Bitcoin — Tim Draper

The famous investor picks Netflix among major companies as the most likely to put Bitcoin on its balance sheet.

Netflix may just be the next Fortune 100 company to buy Bitcoin (BTC) and Amazon will have to accept it, says billionaire Tim Draper.

In an interview the Unstoppable Podcast on Feb. 28, the serial investor forecast that out of all possible candidates, Netflix is his pick for putting BTC on its balance sheet.

Draper: Netflix "might be next big one to fall"

"I think Reed Hastings is a very innovative guy, he still controls the reins at Netflix and so I think that might be the next big one to fall."

Draper also considered that Amazon would add a direct Bitcoin payment option in future.

"Amazon will probably start accepting Bitcoin pretty soon," he said, noting that consumers have been able to buy products indirectly using cryptocurrency for many years.

Amazon added Ethereum availability to its Managed Blockchain this week.

Bitcoin Reaching $1 Million Is "Very Reasonable": Kraken CEO

During his recent Bloomberg interview, Kraken CEO Jesse Powell gave the most ardent Bitcoin bulls a run for their money by stating that the largest cryptocurrency is going to infinity:

"Of course, we can only speculate, but when you measure it in terms of dollars, you have to think it's going to infinity."

He expects it to trump gold as the store of value in the near-term:

"I think, in the near-term, people see it surpassing gold as a store of value. So, you know, I think a million dollars as a price target within the ten years is very reasonable."

His comments came amid Kraken raising fresh capital that would increase its valuation to $10 billion.
Bitcoin Projected to Rise Above $100,000 by 2022: Magnetic MG

William Quigley, managing director of Magnetic, told CNN Business that the past BTC halving has been key in the current bull run.

“What’s happened historically whenever that happens for between the next 12 and 18 month, Bitcoin can go up between 300% and 500%,” said Quigley.

The most recent halving happened in May 2020. There has been some skepticism that it may not have the same effect on the price as the previous halvings did.

This was seen after the second halving of July 2016. On the day of the halving the price was at $660 — 17 months later in December 2017 it hit a new high of $20,000.

If this trend and Quigley’s analysis are correct, hitting $100,000 or even above that is not impossible. We are already seeing this pump in the price and it’s only been less than a year since the halving happened.

Bitcoin (BTC) Bounces but Fails to Clear Resistance

The Bitcoin (BTC) price initiated a bounce last week, but failed to invalidate the previous bearish engulfing candlestick.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin is expected to either bounce upwards or consolidate this week. After that, it’s expected to confirm the direction of the longer-term trend.

BTC bounced last week, creating a small bullish candlestick. However, it failed to even reach the halfway point of the preceding bearish engulfing candlestick.

Nevertheless, the MACD is increasing and the RSI has clearly generated some hidden bullish divergence. This is a common sign of trend continuation.

On the bearish side, the Stochastic oscillator is showing a decrease in momentum. However, it has yet to make a bearish cross.

When looking at the bearish candlesticks from the 2017 bull run we can see that no considerable decrease followed in week three.

After the first bearish engulfing candlestick, BTC bounced upwards for five weeks before decreasing again. It also saw relief for three weeks after the second and third bearish engulfing candlesticks. Finally,  it bounced immediately following the fourth bearish candle.

Therefore, based on its history, even if the BTC low is not yet in, it’s likely that BTC will see some relief or consolidation this week.

The hidden bullish divergence supports this possibility along with the potential continuation of the upward movement.
Bloomberg's prominent expert, Mike McGlone, has taken to Twitter to share that, according to his data, investors are quickly switching from buying gold to buying Bitcoin, preferring it as a store of value.

The precious metal that has been around for thousands of years will always remain in jewelry and coin collections, he says, but Bitcoin is taking over as an inflation hedge.

"Digital gold is pushing aside the old guard"

Mike McGlone shared a screenshot of a chart showing that, since 2017, investors have been more and more frequently choosing Bitcoin over gold when it comes to selecting a store of value.

The total trading volume of Bitcoin versus gold is much higher at the moment, the chart says, compared to the overall known ETH holdings versus gold.

Gold has plunged to $1,700, Bitcoin trading at $50,860

After reaching an all-time high of $2,049 in August 2020, the precious yellow metal has been declining, while Bitcoin has been rising.

Last fall, BTC exceeded the $11,000 level and has not been below it since.

While gold closed at $1,700 during the previous session, Bitcoin is changing hands in the $50,800 zone.

BTC surged to $51,000 after the U.S. Senate approved the $1.9 trillion stimulus program to support the economy and slow down the recession. However, by now the flagship cryptocurrency has rebounded a little.

• Get a Bitcoin Wallet

A common maxim in the space to always remember is “not your keys, not your crypto”.

The first step to buying Bitcoin is to get a secure Bitcoin wallet

It’s difficult to combine the necessary information and perform the calculations to correctly create a Bitcoin transaction. There are many steps where human error may cause a user to lose their funds. It would also be confusing and difficult to manually keep track of private keys.

We can avoid these problems by using Bitcoin wallets. Wallets help us manage our private keys and make it much simpler to send, receive, and store bitcoins.

Bitcoin Shoots for $56,000

BTC has been moving upwards since breaking out from the $51,900 resistance area on March 8.

On March 9, it reached a high of $55,803 before creating a bearish candlestick and decreasing sharply. The high was made just above the 0.786 Fib retracement level of the most recent decrease.

Therefore, we could say that BTC is trading between support and resistance at $51,900 and $55,000 respectively.

Both the MACD and RSI are increasing, supporting the continuation of the upward movement.

Parallel Channel

A closer look at the movement shows that BTC has been trading inside a parallel ascending channel since Feb. 28. Parallel channels are often corrective movements, which would mean that a breakdown is expected.

However, BTC has bounced from the middle of the channel and is increasing. Currently, it’s moving towards the resistance line of the channel. Depending on when it reaches the resistance of the channel, it could coincide with the all-time high price of $58,532 from Feb. 21.

Whether BTC gets rejected by the resistance line or breaks out will likely determine if this is a new impulse or a corrective increase.

Conclusion

BTC is expected to continue increasing towards the resistance line of the current channel. Whether it breaks out or gets rejected will likely help determine the direction of the trend.
$70M USDT Moved from Tether Treasury to Unknown Wallet

A few weeks ago we witnessed $200 million in Tether tokens transferred between crypto exchange, from Bitfinex to Huobi, another $70 million has moved out today from the Tether Treasury.

The capitalization of Tether’s USDT stablecoin has recently surpassed $37 billion.

According to a tweet from @whale_alert, the crypto transaction tracker has posted the evidence of the reallocation of 70,000,000 USDT (equivalent to roughly $69.9 million at press time).

While the previous transfer was to a known destination, we at least know this one is to an unknown wallet.

The market value of Tether’s USDT stablecoin has recently surpassed $37 billion, further helping it cement its position as the world’s largest stablecoin

As noted overtime, Tether generally has a higher trading volume than Bitcoin. This reflects that the stablecoin is being used more often than the No.1 cryptocurrency to move money around.
Bitcoin price sheds 5% after Oracle keeps quiet on $4B BTC allocation rumors

Rumors that Oracle would announce a 72,000 Bitcoin buy-in on Wednesday were left unsubstantiated by executives as Bitcoin fell from local highs of $57,300.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell $2,000 overnight on March 11 after United States-based multinational Oracle dispelled rumors that it had bought 72,000 BTC.

Data from TradingView showed BTC/USD returning to $55,000 on Thursday after hitting local highs of around $57,00.

The previous day had delivered strong performance across cryptocurrency, with bulls eagerly awaiting a retest of Bitcoin's all-time highs at $58,300.

While the momentum did much to overcome a final band of resistance in place just below that level, it did not last, as an alleged adoption announcement from Oracle failed to materialize.

Starting in February, claims began to surface that the firm planned to buy a huge amount of Bitcoin in a move that would rival top institutional investors Grayscale and MicroStrategy. Confirmation should have come on Wednesday, social media users added, but an earnings call failed to confirm their suspicions.

In the event, co-founder Larry Ellison did not disclose any Bitcoin-related activity, while signalling that he was bullish on the trading environment for the coming year

“I’m not really ready to disclose our plans as to why I think it’s going to suddenly spike but we expect very, very rapid database growth next year,” he said, quoted by CNBC.

At the time of writing, BTC/USD was continuing to retrace, losing around 2% in an hour and heading towards $54,000.

Reacting, commentators remained unfazed by the anticlimax.

"For those caught in the day to day pricing of Bitcoin, it is a long journey," entrepreneur Jeff Booth responded:

“The fact that Oracle hasn't bought 'yet' is very bullish and signalling how early it still is.”
Tether USDT Stablecoin Now Live on Solana

Solana becomes the seventh blockchain to issue USDT, after Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS,  Tron, Algorand, and Binance Smart Chain.

Tether has launched its stablecoin USDT on the Solana blockchain.

USDT Taps Solana’s Performance

Six months after it was first announced, the leading stablecoin USDT is now live on the Solana blockchain with an initial mint of 1.5 USDT.

Tether is currently the number four cryptocurrency by market cap, with a total market capitalization of ~38 billion.

Solana becomes the seventh blockchain to issue USDT, after Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS,  Tron, Algorand, and Binance Smart Chain.

Even though Tether (USDT) is supported on various chains,  it has changed the most hands on the Ethereum network.

Ethereum has suffered from record-high transaction fees and network congestion recently, forcing Tether to issue more USDT on other previously-mentioned chains. Now, Solana too joins that list.

Tether said in a media release that the Solana integration would enable fast USDT transactions with a fee as low as $0.00001, thousands of times less than on Ethereum.

In return, USDT may also help create increased liquidity and benefit the various DeFi and Web 3.0 projects currently developing in the Solana ecosystem.

Blockchain firm Circle is also working on integrating USD Coin (USDC), the second-largest stable coin, with Solana to benefit from its high performance.
