Bitcoin at $58,000: once again close to highs
The price of bitcoin is back near its all-time highs.
Last Thursday, March 25th, 2021, it had fallen as low as around $50,000, but it bounced back from that support and was already at $52,000 the same day.
On Friday the 26th it stayed more or less at that level, but by Saturday the 27th it went up again.
First it climbed up to $55,000, then on Monday 29th, it was back up to $58,000.
Yesterday, with one last leap, it returned above $58,000.
The all-time high for the price of bitcoin was reached on March 13th, when it surpassed $61,000, but the current level is only 3% below that high. Since BTC has become accustomed to daily swings of up to 3%, it could theoretically return to the highs at any moment.

Glassnode report shows that over 1.98 million Bitcoin have been transacted above the $1 trillion market cap.
Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, is currently trading above $59,000 with a market cap of $1.1 trillion. The latest data from crypto analytics firm, Glassnode indicates that Bitcoin has solidified its position as a $1 trillion asset after a strong improvement in the BTC network activity.
Glassnode recently published its weekly on-chain report and mentioned that nearly 1.98 million Bitcoin, equivalent to 10.6% of the circulating supply, have been transacted over the $1 trillion market cap. The recent BTC support level is the strongest since prices were $11,000 to $12,000.
“Peak volume in this cluster hit 2.97 million BTC, transacted between $58.5k and $59.1k. The average volume of this cluster is 1.52 million Bitcoin which is also higher than the majority of clusters transacted at lower prices. It is likely that this volume cluster will form a very strong support level and appears to be justifying Bitcoin’s ‘twelve zeros club’ status,” Glassnode mentioned in the report.

NBA Team Sacramento Kings to Offer Players the Option of Getting Salary Paid in Bitcoin
The Sacramento Kings team chairman Vivek Ranadivé reportedly said on Clubhouse on Monday that everyone in his organization could receive their salary in as much bitcoin as they want. A bitcoin enthusiast, Neil Jacobs, who was present at the Clubhouse meeting quoted Ranadivé as saying:
I’m going to announce in the next few days that I’m going to offer everyone in the Kings organization, they can get paid as much of their salary in bitcoin as they want, including the players.
The Sacramento Kings became the first NBA team to accept bitcoin as a payment option in the arena in January 2014 through Bitpay. In 2018, the team announced that it became the first professional sports team in the world to mine cryptocurrency through a charitable program called Miningforgood.
In addition, the Kings collaborates with Blockparty on a blockchain-powered rewards program and has joined forces with CryptoKaiju to launch a line of physical crypto-collectibles in professional sports. It also launched the NBA’s first live blockchain-powered auction platform for authentic memorabilia with Consensys and Treum.
Meanwhile, pro football player Russell Okung has been getting paid in bitcoin. He said in January that he received half of his $13 million salary in BTC.

Bitcoin Still Has Support From Long-Term Uptrend, Says Technical Analyst Katie Stockton
Despite short-term volatility, bitcoin's uptrend remains intact.
Bitcoin’s (BTC) month-long consolidation between $50,000 and $60,000 reflects a tug of war between buyers and sellers. But from a long-term perspective, the uptrend remains intact.
That’s important to consider as some cryptocurrency traders get caught up in short-term volatility, according to Katie Stockton, technical analyst at Fairlead Strategies.
• “The breakouts that we’ve already seen in bitcoin have already been exceeded,” said Stockton during an interview on CoinDesk TV's "First Mover." She prefers to see a decisive breakout from the current consolidation phase in order to derive an upside target.
• Despite the pickup in short-term volatility, Stockton determined that intraday declines of about 3%-6% are less impactful on the chart. This suggests ongoing support from trend and momentum indicators.
• As BTC consolidates, traders could look to altcoins for upside potential. “The rotation out of bitcoin is certainly happening to the benefit of these other cryptos.”
• Stockton uses a relative rotation graph (RRG) to measure five-day trend and momentum of altcoins versus BTC.
• EOS has outperformed BTC over the past five days, while ether (ETH) has shifted from the improving quadrant to the leading quadrant over the same time period. However, Stockton mentioned, a pullback below $1,974 in ETH could register a failed breakout, giving way to a deeper pullback or additional consolidation.

Fidelity Says Bitcoin Adoption Will Keep Accelerating — 'We've Reached a Tipping Point'
Fidelity’s head of digital assets says that bitcoin adoption will continue “at an accelerated pace,” noting that “we’ve reached a tipping point.” He explained that investors are increasingly drawn to bitcoin “Particularly, in an environment where we’ve seen unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus from central banks and governments in response to the pandemic.”
The Tipping Point of Bitcoin Adoption
Tom Jessop, president of Fidelity Digital Assets at Fidelity Investments, talked about bitcoin adoption Wednesday during an interview at Marketwatch and Barron’s “Investing in Crypto” event. Jessop is also head of Corporate Business Development for Fidelity Investments.
The Fidelity executive says that the maturation and adoption of bitcoin as an investment class “will continue at a rapid pace in the coming years,” Marketwatch detailed, adding that this suggests that cryptocurrency may have turned a corner in traditional finance circles.
He was quoted as saying:
'' I think we continue to see adoption at an accelerated pace for a host of reasons.''
The head of digital assets at Fidelity has previously talked about the bitcoin market becoming more mature. “There’s more liquidity. Volatility is down about 50% from where it was in 2017. So … we believe, that the composition of this investor base, what’s driving the market higher today, is fundamentally different than what we saw three years ago,” he said in January.
Jessop further explained Wednesday why investors are increasingly drawn to bitcoin, citing factors such as the ultralow interest rates and an environment stimulated by easy-money policies.
“I think you’ve had the accumulated experience of now roughly 12 years of the bitcoin blockchain being operative since the genesis block in early 2009. And the pandemic, quite frankly, was a catalyst for institutional adoption, and specifically bitcoin and the narrative, or use-case, around digital gold,” Jessop described.
The Fidelity executive elaborated, “Particularly, in an environment where we’ve seen unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus from central banks and governments in response to the pandemic,” adding:
'' I think we’ve reached a tipping point … We’re not going to get out of this stimulating environment anytime soon.''
Jessop is not the only finance executive who believes that bitcoin has reached a tipping point. Bitcoin bull Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital, said last month that “Bitcoin adoption has hit a tipping point and investors don’t want to sit on the sidelines.” His comment followed the approval of some bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Canada. Meanwhile, investment bank Goldman Sachs also sees the bitcoin market becoming more mature.

Rich Dad Poor Dad Author Robert Kiyosaki Predicts Bitcoin Price Will Be $1.2 Million in 5 Years
Robert Kiyosaki has shared his prediction of how high he thinks bitcoin’s price would be. The Rich Dad Poor Dad author accurately predicted in December last year that the price of the cryptocurrency would reach $50,000 in 2021.
Rich Dad Poor Dad is a 1997 book co-authored by Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. It has been on the New York Times Best Seller List for over six years. Over 32 million copies of the book have been sold in over 51 languages across more than 109 countries.
Kiyosaki was asked in an interview with Kitco News last week if it is too late to buy bitcoin at the current price of between $50,000 and $60,000. Noting that “There is always the entry point,” the famous author proceeded to share: “I bought bitcoin at $9,000 and I thought I was being fleeced but the reason I bought it at $9,000 was because Covid shut down the world economy,” he said, adding that “I wish I bought it at 10 cents like a lot of people did.”
He continued, “But now I look like a genius,” given the price of bitcoin is currently around $60,000. He additionally pointed out that money printing by the government, excessive stimulus, and the devaluation of the U.S. dollar are what give bitcoin and gold their appeal. The Rich Dad Poor Dad author elaborated:
I think it’s going to $1.2 million in five more years.
Regarding his bullish BTC price prediction, he was further asked whether he thinks the government would intervene in one form or another. Several notable people believe that the government could take serious measures against cryptocurrency, including outlawing bitcoin, including Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio, The Big Short’s Michael Burry, and Ron Paul.
“I think they [the government] will try,” Kiyosaki replied. “But, the problem is too big,” he exclaimed. “Our pensions are going bust. Baby boomers have no money. They shut down the economy. They’re gonna print … another $1.9 trillion. So, it has never worked. It’s Gresham’s law. Bad money drives out good money. So, when a guy like me gets my hand on bitcoin, I’ll never spend it.” He noted that as a real estate guy, like former President Donald Trump, when he needs money, he would borrow it and spend the “fake money.”
While affirming that he still advocates for bitcoin, Kiyosaki admitted: “I prefer gold and silver because bitcoin is still untested.” Nonetheless, he proceeded to explain: “But I have the wherewithal to withstand the hit if it goes down. But gold and silver are God’s money. I know because I’ve travelled the world looking for this stuff.” Clarifying that he is “not really religious,” the famous author reiterated: “I’m very much in favour of gold and silver because it’s God’s money. God put it here.”
Kiyosaki also revealed that he may buy bitcoin “again today or tomorrow just because I’m more bullish on it.” However, he opined: “I’m not bullish on gold over bitcoin. I’m just bearish on Biden and his communist gang. That’s what I don’t like. I don’t trust the academic elite that’s called Bernanke and Yellen and now we have Powell. These guys are communists. They’ll print money. They’re central bankers.”

Bitcoin's Creator Satoshi Nakamoto Is Now a Member of the Top 20 World's Richest People
This week our newsdesk covered the world’s wealthiest cryptocurrency billionaires after the American business magazine Forbes published the 2021 list of billionaires. Now it was mentioned in our report that Satoshi Nakamoto didn’t make the cut, even though Bitcoin’s inventor is one of the wealthiest people in the world. Using today’s bitcoin exchange rates, data shows that if Nakamoto has 1 million bitcoin, then the infamous creator has made it into the top twenty, as far as the world’s wealthiest billionaires are concerned
Bitcoin’s Creator Is a Member of the 1%
The mysterious creator behind the Bitcoin project is unknown and there is very little information out there concerning the identity of the blockchain inventor or group of inventors.
However, there is some information that the community is aware of, and it is well known that Satoshi Nakamoto helped kickstart the network and was with the community up until 2010. It is estimated that Nakamoto holds at least 750,000 to 1.1 million bitcoin (BTC) from when the creator mined tokens back in the early days.
It is also understood that Nakamoto has never spent these coinbase rewards gathered during the first year Bitcoin launched. Now leveraging current bitcoin (BTC) exchange rates shows that Satoshi Nakamoto is a very rich person today, as the inventor possesses over $59 billion in wealth.
This is of course if Satoshi Nakamoto has access to the 1 million BTC estimate and the $59 billion+ doesn’t include the forks he owns too. Nakamoto’s bitcoin cash (BCH) stash is worth over $650 million and the bitcoinsv (BSV) cache the inventor owns is worth over $250 million. Satoshi Nakamoto also has access to 1.1 million bitcoin gold (BTG), and all the other forks that exist if the inventor still has the private keys.
With just the BTC stash alone, this puts Satoshi Nakamoto in the top 20 positions, according to the “Forbes Billionaires 2021” list. Nakamoto is positioned just above the financial media mogul Michael Bloomberg (20) and Rob Walton (20) the oldest living son of the Walmart founder Sam Walton.

Famed Silicon Valley “super angel” investor Ron Conway sees the crypto economy as the next multitrillion-dollar opportunity in innovation. The Silicon Valley legend likens Coinbase to Google after the company’s IPO via a direct listing on Nasdaq.
Crypto Is the Next Multitrillion Dollar Opportunity in Innovation
Legendary investor Ron Conway, who is often described as a Silicon Valley “super angel,” discussed the state of the crypto market and its future outlook in an interview with CNBC Wednesday. Conway, an early investor of Coinbase, likens the company to Google.
An American venture capitalist and philanthropist, who is considered the “Godfather of Silicon Valley,” Conway has placed more bets on Internet startups than anyone else in Silicon Valley. He was an early angel investor in Google, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Paypal, Airbnb, Square, and Pinterest to name a few.
Regarding the crypto market, the famed investor said: “If you start at the very top of the funnel. Look at the market size for the crypto economy. Last year, it was $778 billion, headed to over a trillion. And the crypto economy is in its infancy.” He affirmed:
The crypto economy is the next multitrillion-dollar opportunity in innovation.
As for Coinbase with its huge valuation that exceeds that of the exchange it is listed on, he said, “If people look at the size of the opportunity, then the market cap of these companies look a little more reasonable.” Coinbase was valued at as much as $100 billion in its public debut.
“We are in an inflated market no matter what, so all companies are worth a pretty high price today. When you look at the size of the market of crypto, I think they are analogous,” Conway detailed.
Coinbase Is the New Google, Says the ‘Godfather of Silicon Valley’
Cryptocurrency exchange operator Coinbase went public via a direct listing on Nasdaq on Wednesday. Retail investors poured $57.35 million into the company on its IPO day, according to Vandatrack, which monitors retail investing activity in 9,000 individual stocks and ETFs in the U.S. The data-monitoring firm estimates that Coinbase’s public debut was the fifth largest in terms of retail buying for newly listed shares since 2017.
Given the sheer number of companies piling into the crypto space, including Square Inc. and Robinhood, Conway was asked what sets Coinbase apart and why he thinks Coinbase is the new Google and not Yahoo, for example.
“What really sets Coinbase apart is it is a crypto-only company … All these other companies, crypto is an add-on. Coinbase is what we called a crypto-first company, and that focus is what is making them a market leader,” Conway described, elaborating:
I absolutely believe that Coinbase is the Google for the crypto economy and opens this huge opportunity to consumers.
Conway also believes that Coinbase already has a “great brand” and “great reputation” with consumers, adding that “They are the user-friendly door to crypto.”

Federal Reserve Bank President Says Bitcoin Is Clearly a Store of Value
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas president says bitcoin is clearly “a store of value.” Emphasizing the differences between cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin, and central bank digital currencies, he said the latter “won’t necessarily be a store of value.”
Fed Bank Chief Calls Bitcoin a Store of Value
The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Robert Kaplan, talked about bitcoin and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) Friday at the Texas A&M Bitcoin Conference 2021 hosted by Mays Business School.
Firstly, Kaplan explained that he would distinguish between bitcoin and central bank digital currencies. “I would differentiate between a cryptocurrency, like bitcoin, and the discussions that are being had about digital currency,” such as the digital yuan experiment in China, he described.
He proceeded to explain that the challenge on bitcoin is “how widely it will be adopted.” The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas chief elaborated:
Right now, it’s clear it’s a store of value.
“It obviously moves a lot in value,” he continued. “That may keep it from spreading too far as a medium of exchange and wide adoption but that can change and that will evolve.”
The Fed bank chief also confirmed that he and his team “have studied intensely and will keep studying bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.”
He then talked about central bank digital currencies, emphasizing:
The discussions around the world on digital currency are slightly different in that a digital currency won’t necessarily be a store of value.
“If you’re worried about the value of underlying currency, digital currency is likely to be, for example in China, tied to the value of the underlying,” he detailed, adding that it’s also “a way of ease of payment, domestic payments first, getting money to where it’s needed.”
Kaplan further opined: “In some cases, you could argue in China it’s a way to monitor flows … and then ultimately how far will this go, and there’s been speculation about global payments and the implications.”
As for the digital dollar, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in February that the Fed is actively studying the possibility of issuing a digital dollar. He emphasized that it is a “very high priority project” for the Fed. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) plan to unveil at least two prototypes of a digital dollar in the third quarter of this year.
