The Houthis are continuing their offensive and seizing control of the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The loss of Perim Island—a strategic base on the strait—represents a major turning point for the global economy.
Map 2 clearly illustrates the geopolitical web of the Middle East. Despite multipolar diplomacy, alliances have not disappeared:
▪️ the pro-Iranian bloc
▪️ the Sunni bloc (Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia)
▪️ the Israel–UAE bloc
The balance of power shifted completely after October 7. The pro-Iranian "Axis of Resistance" was severely weakened but not destroyed. Key factors in this shift included:
▪️ the strengthening of Israel
▪️ the fall of Assad in Syria
▪️ the partial, though incomplete, destruction of Hamas and Hezbollah
❗️Conversely, after a series of setbacks between 2023 and 2025, Iran ultimately emerged victorious from the confrontation with Israel and the US. Despite strikes that destroyed parts of its military and economic infrastructure, Tehran still controls the Strait of Hormuz

Russia 🇷🇺 continues to intensify strikes against Ukrainian gas stations across the country.
Yesterday, at least 3 gas stations were targeted in downtown Kyiv by Geran-4 drones, while similar strikes continue on key roads with Geran-4 drones and on frontline cities with FPVs and fixed wing drones.
▪️In total, more than 240 gas stations have been hit across the country, close to borders.
▪️This shows the lack of means to target fuel trucks and small fuel storage tanks like Ukraine is doing in the south.
This map only shows part of the gas stations that were hit, so make sure to tell me in comments if I missed any.

Since this morning, hundreds of Russian 🇷🇺 Geran-2 drones are flying along the border with Belarus, attacking targets in north-western Ukraine 🇺🇦 At least 3 gas stations, a train and multiple other targets have been hit today.
This is the first large scale attack on western Ukraine since May 2026 and the return of Geran-2 after a long Geran-4 jet-drone campaign against Kyiv and other targets closer to Russia. Geran-2 drones are slower and can be downed by interceptor drones, but they fly in large teams, which allows them to bypass defenses. One of the strike hit a civilian train in the city center of Lutsk city, while others hit various other civilian targets along the Rivne-Kyiv highway.
Few weeks ago, I warned about Russian willingness to launch renewed large scale attacks on western Ukraine ahead of winter. This week, targets in Khmelnytskyï and Zhytomyr were hit, the westernmost ones in weeks.

Under a thick cloud cover, Russia 🇷🇺 launched a massive Geran-2 attack against western Ukraine 🇺🇦
More than 863 were launched, of which 741 were downed, which leaves more than 122 impacts (official numbers, can be higher).
At least 5 gas stations, 2 trains, and 1 electric substation have been confirmed as hit, while multiple other impacts cannot yet be confirmed. Russia clearly targeted Ukrainian logistics and energy infrastructure along the Poland-Kyiv highway.
For the first time in weeks, Russia used numerous Geran-2 drones that they had accumulated for months. This attack was planned for a day with bad weather to complicate Ukrainian air-defense. Moreover, they flew in large groups along the Belarussian border, and some managed to reach the Polish border this morning, with at least two hits confirmed on the Yagodin border crossing, one on a gas station and one on a train where many high level officials were at the time, including the former British PM and a counselor of German Chancellor Merz.

As summer is slowly finishing, both Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Russia 🇷🇺 are reorganizing their forces
Most of the Russian groupings failed to reach their planned objectives and now concentrate massive forces on a 30km wide front in Dobropillia.
🔹Russia concentrate the 8th, 41st and 51st armies (Tcentr) against the Dobropilla-Drujkivka direction, facing Ukraine's 1st Azov Army Corps (Azov grp).
🔹Russia concentrate weaker forces east of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk with the "Ioug" grouping, while Ukraine is currently reorganising this direction.
🔹Ukraine's 3rd Army Corps (Center) is advancing against Russia's 20th and 25th Armies.

Ukraine's 🇺🇦 3rd Army Corps acknowledged for the first time the results of part of the operation "Vivaldi".
They revealed very old images (early spring and summer) of the clearing operation of a large infiltrated area all the way to Korovii Yar and Oleksandrivka.

In August 2026, Russia 🇷🇺 intensified its strike campaign against Ukraine 🇺🇦.
In total, between 4,600 and 4,900 Geran drones were launched against Ukraine, along
with more than 200 missiles.
The number of Russian Geran drone strikes decreased in August, but so did the interception rate, with nearly 800 drones getting through. There were no massive strikes, but rather constant pressure. I personally confirmed 450 impacts in August.
◾️30–40% of the drones used were decoys.
◾️20–30% of the drones used were jet-powered (Geran-4).
◾️70% of confirmed impacts in August involved jet-powered drones, compared to 36% in July.
◾️90% of Geran-2s are intercepted, compared to 60% of Geran-4/5s.
The shift from the Geran-2 (conventional propulsion) to the Geran-4/5 (jet propulsion)—which began in July—was confirmed in August, accompanied by a strike campaign targeting logistics.

Strikes targeting logistics remained the most frequent by far, with at least 145 hits on warehouses, 45 on railway infrastructure, and 24 on ports. These were followed by targets in the industrial and energy sectors, among others.
Of particular note is the Russian onslaught against civilian targets, such as medical or food warehouses, supermarkets, and gas stations located within city centers. Collateral damage from strikes, falling debris, and missed targets continues to claim a high number of civilian casualties.
The city of Kyiv and its surrounding region top the list by a wide margin, accounting for nearly a quarter of all strikes. Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Sumy, and Chernihiv follow, tied for the next tier, with little change compared to previous months.

Ukrainian 🇺🇦 army continues to prepare defenses close to the border with Belarus 🇧🇾. Very large forests have been cut and multiple defensive lines are being prepared, to counter both mechanized assault and infiltrations.
There is currently no threat on Kyiv or western Ukraine from the north, but it is worth noting Ukraine prefers to prepare fortifications in advance in case of a Russian 🇷🇺 push in the next few years.
Recent Russian strikes on western Ukraine had some operator controled drones (strikes on the Yahodin border post), which means they had some relays somewhere, probably in Belarus...

With the Russian elections just days away, Moscow 🇷🇺 is ramping up pressure and propaganda:
🔹Officially, Moscow claims to control 5,000 km² more territory than the Ukrainians acknowledge, and even 3,000 km² more than pro-Russian analysts estimate.
🔹In reality, the Russian army has captured only 650 km² this year; by comparison, the figure was 3,146 km² during the same period in 2025 and 1,907 km² in 2024.
🔹Many areas claimed to be under Russian control by the army, Russian media, or the president are not actually held by them—for instance, Sviatohirsk, a small town located 25 km from the front line.
The goal of this propaganda regarding figures is primarily domestic: to mask problems and demonstrate that the army is still advancing and achieving victory on the front.
At the same time, Moscow is increasing operations and acts of sabotage against Ukraine's European allies:
🔹Explosions at ammunition depots in Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Italy 🇮🇹, and Germany 🇩🇪.
🔹FPV drones discovered near sensitive military sites in Germany 🇩🇪 and elsewhere.
🔹Widespread sabotage of Dutch 🇳🇱 railway logistics.
🔹Frequent incursions by Russian Gerbera and Geran drones into Romania 🇷🇴 (a 25-minute overflight last week), Poland 🇵🇱 (a Gerbera drone washed up on a beach and a double strike on a border crossing on the Ukrainian side), and Lithuania 🇱🇹 (a drone shot down by an Italian fighter jet near a thermal power plant).
These acts of sabotage are set to intensify in the coming weeks, with a rise in localized, unclaimed attacks on sensitive sites. Moscow will heavily exploit European discontent over fuel prices. In France, Russia will focus particular attention on the presidential election. Russia itself likely views itself as being at war with Europe (indirectly) at this moment; only Europeans speak of hybrid threats, unattributed acts, and appeasement.

I have now reached 130 000 followers, which is a great number considering my age and the number of very influential people following me
First, thank you, everyone, for all those likes, comments, questions... Let me explain what I will do with my account. 👇
🔹As you can see, I switched from talking about multiple conflicts to mainly following one, Ukraine. This one is the most important and requires an enormous amount of time to follow.
🔹This does not mean I stopped following Sudan, Mali, Congo, Ethiopia, Middle East or Myanmar; I just lack time to talk about it. I will try to share as often as possible news about other conflicts.
🔹My coverage has been 60% in English and 40% in French. Why? Part of the French can read English, or the automated translation is helping. On the other side, many can't read French. I will continue to do half and half.
➡️I will use French to talk about wars in Africa, geopolitics, and overall situations in Ukraine and English for precise and detailed analysis.
➡️I will continue to work on multiple data collections on the war in Ukraine, but I clearly lack time. I will still check frontline, airstrikes, fortifications, and Russian long range strikes. For now, I lack time to precisely follow Ukrainian mid-/long-range strikes. Remember this takes a lot of time and is unpaid (and then stolen by hundreds of aggregator accounts like my latest map update).
What I will post :
🔸Updates on Ukraine
🔸News about the drone revolution
🔸Global news about the world/other conflict
🔸Follow of defense, foreign policy and politics in Europe
Now some questions for you :
➡️What would you improve in my account ?
➡️What do you want me to talk more often about ?
➡️Should I post more smaller updates ?
Make sure you follow me on

Russian 🇷🇺 forces continue to infiltrate Orikhiv
🔸The first Russian soldiers reached Orikhiv months ago, but infiltrations are being more numerous now
🔸They follow 4 roads: east inside of Mala Tokmachka, south to Novodanylivka, west to Novoandriivka and north to Omelnyk
🔸The trend is worrying for the city since Russian soldiers started to take position in urban areas inside Orikhiv, threatening advanced positions further south or east, which, I they fall, will allow a flow of infiltrations into Orikhiv.
➡️Remember that the 58th, 36th, 5th, 35th armies and 68th AC are attacking Orikhiv from 3 sides.
➡️This city is strategic, protecting Zaporizhzhia's south-eastern flank and a fortified 'castle'.
➡️For now, Ukraine managed to contain the advance from the north-east (but infiltrations continue to go deep behind the lines).
