Former Lead Of JPMorgan’s Blockchain Arm Amber Baldet To Embark On New Venture
Baldet had been the lead for project development of Quorum, JPMorgan’s Blockchain and smart contracts platform, as well as working on the firm’s overall Blockchain technologies strategy.
Jessica Francisco, a JPMorgan spokesperson, told Reuters that “Amber is extremely talented and helped build the outstanding team we have today. We respect her desire to start her own venture and we wish her nothing but the best.”
According to a letter obtained by Fortune from Umar Farooq, head of JP Morgan’s Blockchain Initiatives, Baldet had been “an integral part of developing our Blockchain capabilities and helped build out the BCOE and the outstanding team that we have today. We thank her for her leadership and contributions to the CIB and the firm.”
Baldet will be replaced by Christine Moy, a senior product manager at the Blockchain Center of Excellence. Farooq wrote in the letter to the BCOE staff that Moy has “has worked with Amber and the BCOE from its inception and is a Blockchain thought leader:”

Bitcoin, which has seen wild price swings over the past two months, is emerging as the new stock market indicator, according to famed fund manager Jeffrey Gundlach. Despite losing much of its value since its peak in December, the digital currency is still beating the S&P 500, Gundlach told Reuters, adding that price fluctuations make his assertions more than a mere “gut feeling.”
Gundlach, known on Wall Street as the “Bond King,” went on to add that Bitcoin is now the “lead horse” of risk assets as evidenced by the effect of its price swings on other risk assets, for example, high-yield junk bonds and equities.

Bitcoin as Digital Gold
Let’s face it. Bitcoin and gold are similar. Both assets are rare and their supply is limited (it cannot be increase at will by politicians or central bankers). Actually, Bitcoin was conceived as the digital gold from the very beginning – the process of generating bitcoins is called “mining”. And both Bitcoin (and cryptocurrencies in general) and gold are not government issued media of exchange – instead, both are alternatives to fiat currencies.
According to Aswath Damodaran, a valuation guru, one scenario for Bitcoin is that it will become “gold for Millenials”, i.e. it will take the role that gold has fulfilled for hundreds of years – a safe-haven asset for people who don’t trust governments & central banks and their currencies.

For a mere $105,000, John McAfee will tweet about your cryptocurrency
Creepy (no, seriously) 1980s villain John McAfee has 812,000 Twitter followers, some of whom are not bots, and for the low price of $105,000, he will tweet to them about your cryptocurrency
But mind, John won't spam those 812,000! He caps his tweeting at seven tweets per cryptocurrency scheme.
If nothing else, Mr McAfee appears to have discovered a way to ensure that his cryptocurrency profits are non-speculative.

Bitcoin nosedives under $7,000 for the first time since February
The Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is losing its threshold after social media platforms and Google banned its advertisment.
Various other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Ripple also declined, dropped 7.08 percent over a 24 hour period to $386.01 and 6.37 percent to $0.51, respectively.
CrackedMarkets analyst Jani Ziedins said, the market will witness its worst in no time. He added, “The thing to keep in mind is prices bounce decisively from grossly oversold levels. Expect prices to undercut Feburary’ssic lows over the next few weeks and that violation to trigger a large wave of defensive selling.”

Traders in bitcoin are basically taking a day off. The low to high trading range is only $365 which is not a big move. The price today is down about -$82.00 at $6751.
Technically, yesterday, the price tumbled back below the 100 hour MA (blue line in the chart below). That MA comes in at $7026 currently. Stay below keeps the bears in control. Move above and then the 200 hour MA at $7120 and the technical story changes to more bullish.

Centralized Ripple Is Probably a Security Token
Ripple has long been criticized for its centralization. These concerns have revolved around the degree to which Ripple, or its partner exchanges – aka Ripple Gateways – have the power to freeze and reverse transactions. Ripple’s greatest centralization problem may owe less to the way its nodes operate, however, and more to the amount of coins held by the company. Given that Ripple owns the majority of all XRP, the argument goes, anyone buying the coin is essentially buying shares in the company.

Coincheck, a Japanese cryptocurrency exchange that made news in January when hackers stole $500m of customers' deposits, has been sold to Japanese retail broker Monex for $34m (3.6bn yen).
The deal will see Coincheck's current head Koichiro Wada replaced by a Monex executive and any profits made over the next three years will be split with the crypto exchnage's current shareholde4rs, annopucned Monex.
Japan is seen as one of the most crypto-friendly economies but the Coincheck hack has called for tighter regulation of the sector.
However, the Monex acquisition has been well-received by the broker's shareholders. Its share price has shot up by a massive 40% since news of the Coincheck deal was first reported earlier this week, adding $330 million to its market capitalisation.

ANALYSTS: ‘SEISMIC SHIFT’ OCCURRING IN CRYPTOCURRENCY MARKET
In December, everyone was a day-trading cryptocurrency expert.
Stories abound about co-workers who convinced their mothers to buy ten litecoins at $350 apiece, and everybody probably knows somebody who bought PACcoin when it pumped nearly 40,000 percent in little more than a week.
Most of those investors have since left the market with heavy losses, some surely vowing never to touch the stuff again — and that’s not a bad thing. Explained Nigel Green, founder and chief executive of deVere Group, to MarketWatch:
It has been this correction that’s been mainly responsible for an evolution in investor attitude. I believe that now the overwhelming majority of investors do not view cryptocurrencies as a way to make a fast buck, as perhaps previously many more might have done.

Bitcoin Hater Soros Poised to Partake in Cryptocurrency Trading - Reports
Adam Fisher, the man in charge of macro investing at Soros Fund Management, was granted internal approval to trade in virtual currencies, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

A website that tracks initial coin offerings (ICOs) says its platform can help crypto startups reach potential investors amid a recent clampdown on advertising imposed by some of the biggest players in Silicon Valley.
Facebook fired the starting pistol at the end of January by declaring it will start banning ads for cryptocurrencies and ICOs which deploy “misleading or deceptive promotional practices.” Last month, Google announced it was updating its Financial Services policy- meaning no crypto-related ads will be accepted from June. Twitter then followed suit and said it was motivated by user safety.
ICObazaar says the ban is impeding exciting projects at a time when the market is flourishing, with fledgling businesses losing access to one of the cheapest ways of reaching the public at large.
These “new challenges” in advertising come as investors struggle to navigate opportunities amid regulation concerns, but ICObazaar argues trackers like its own bring compelling advantages for consumers and companies alike.

Alibaba Files U.S. Trademark Infringement Suit Against Cryptocurrency Firm Alibabacoin
On Monday, April 2nd, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group (NYSE:BABA) filed a complaint alleging various trademark claims in the Southern District of New York. Alibaba alleges that defendant Alibabacoin (ABBC) Foundation has engaged in an unlawful scheme to misappropriate the Alibaba name in order to raise over $3.5 million in cryptoassets from investors. The complaint alleges that scheme was a part of an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) that is neither registered nor approved by U.S. regulators.
Although cryptocurrency firm ABBC Foundation itself is headquartered Dubai, Alibaba argues that U.S. district court is the proper venue for this case as ABBC has advertised that its Alibabacoin cryptocurrency will be available on various crypto-trading platforms which are based in New York, including Gemini and itBit. Alibaba notes that it holds several trademarks registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including: read

Central Bank Cryptos, Vitalik Trolls and Hard Forks: This week in Crypto
Bitcoin is up 3% this week gaining back some of the 20% it lost last week. The price was largely sideways this week retesting $7,000 and $7,350 before coming back down to $6,980 and failing to hold the $7,000 level. The price was as low $6,500 this week. as Despite this sideways movement, Bitcoins dominance has been steadily climbing from it’s low in January. Analysts are optimistic citing the end of tax season in the US and increasing institutional adoption.
Ethereum is up 3% this week after several weeks of double-digit drops from it’s high of almost $1,500. The currency has been consistently sideways despite its increased adoption. Ethereum has continued its trend of closely correlated movements with Bitcoin that was discussed last week.
The entire crypto market stayed flat this week despite hitting a high of $280 billion this week and dropping below $250 billion. The bulls have pointed to this as a breakout consolidation pattern.

As bears still have their saying in the wider-monthly picture, bulls have been taking the upper hand in the weekends very often now. Many crypto-enthusiasts and traders are already thinking what to buy as soon as the red-era of sell-off is done keeping in mind that according to crypto-history it is not going to last long. So, the main question would be – with what in our portfolio are we going to ride our wave upwards and IOTA is not looking bad at all.
Various analysts do support the idea of only caring about crypto-s as a price/unit and not the product/service or solution that it delivers. However, if you are looking for a well-cemented long term choice, the project that has a crystal clear vision of the future would be wise to go as it will turn out just good.
First of all, IOTA’s development idea and project obviously is of crucial importance. The project is considered by many as crypto 3.0 or the cryptocurrency of the next generation as it has gone past existing problems that various blockchain-based coins are dealing with and struggling on a daily basis.
