Verge cryptocurrency asks users for $3M to reveal a ‘potential partnership’
This can only happen in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain. Privacy-oriented digital currency Verge has taken to Twitter to ask its users to donate 75,000,000 XVG (approximately $3 million) so it can reveal a mysterious, “potential partnership” next week.
For the record, this is completely unheard of – and borderline risible. At the very least, it is a tremendously bold move to ask your users to pay you to reveal a partnership.
“In line with our mission to empower people to bring blockchain transactions into everyday life, we are thrilled to announce efforts to establish the largest cryptocurrency collaboration to hit the market,” the fundraising appeal read. “Help us accelerate this crowdfunding effort and reach our target goal.”
“If our goal is met, we will be releasing the name of the company Monday March 26, 2018,” it finished.

Is Bitcoin Gearing Up For A Big Move?
For Bitcoin, things start to look interesting when you take a time cluster based view of its performance. This shows that there are definite patterns in its movements. Lulls like this tend to come before upwards movements for the currency, almost all significant drops in the trading history of Bitcoin have come immediately after sharp rises in its price. This would suggest that quiet times like this may be a good moment to move investments into Bitcoin, so long as you’re ready to make a very sharp exit at the moment things start to look negative.

How Big will Bitcoin Become?
Store of value. Medium of exchange. Hard forks. Altcoins. Price swings. Bitcoin dominance. Energy consumption. Government bans. Beneath all the buzz lies a technological innovation with profound implications. So just how big will Bitcoin and the growing ecosystem of cryptocurrencies become? Will they spell the end of the existing financial order, be buried by it or reach some middling accommodation? Time will tell. But turning back the clock can provide some perspective.
Every now and then a technological innovation comes along that has broad social impacts far beyond its apparent function. The printing press may seem mundane today but it was one of the most important inventions in human history. Francis Bacon called it – along with gunpowder and the compass – one of three innovations that created the modern world. So why was it such a big deal and what insights can we apply to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies today?

Google is working on blockchain technology for the cloud
Google is getting into the blockchain business by creating a line of blockchain-related technologies to work with its various online services. Blockchain technology is used to power cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but Google isn’t working on a new cryptocurrency.
The company is currently working to create its own digital ledger that the company could internally use for a variety of purposes, such as helping to secure customers’ personal data, Bloomberg reported. Beyond internal use, Google is planning to distribute its ledger to third parties so that they can use them to post and verify transactions. Additionally, Google is planning on creating a white label version that other companies can use on their own servers.

3 Stocks That Could Put NVIDIA's Returns to Shame
NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) has been one of the market's best performers over the past five years, with the share price climbing roughly 1,850% over that stretch. That's an incredible trajectory spurred by increasing demand for its computer hardware, resulting from trends ranging from gaming-industry growth to artificial intelligence to cryptocurrency mining.
Finding stocks that can come close to that kind of return, let alone put it to shame, is no easy task. But we asked three Motley Fool investors to profile a company that could outclass NVIDIA. Read on to see why they identified Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD), Zillow (NASDAQ:Z)(NASDAQ:ZG), and Baozun (NASDAQ:BZUN) as stocks that could be huge long-term winners.

The Right Way to Think About Crypto Tokens
At least that's the case made by a new paper by MIT's Christian Catalini and the University of Toronto's Joshua Gans, which describes a simplified model that illustrates what might be a valuable price discovery role that utility tokens, or those that operate as true commodities in the spirit of bitcoin and ether, might enable. It goes on to tease out intriguing benefits that might accrue to society through the sale of and trade in utility tokens, one of the most controversial topics in crypto today, suggesting that risks could be balanced by returns if entrepreneurs are permitted to try the token fundraising model so the public can see how it plays out.

Ripple & Western Union Collaboration Is Big For XRP
Western Union adopting a cryptocurrency would be the biggest vote of confidence in the medium to date. Western Union is used by millions of people worldwide to transfer cash when traditional banking services are unavailable. At present, fees for these services can be very expensive due to the difficulty of wiring money between the markets that Western Union operates in, many of which have poor infrastructure. A move to Ripple XRP would allow Western Union to speed up transfers and reduce the costs paid by customers for moving money around.
So far, Ripple XRP has been stubbornly resistant to moving on rumours like this. While many investors believe that these partnerships are the key to the future of individual cryptocurrencies, there has been little market reaction to these rumours. This is in sharp contrast to what was happening a few months ago when any suggestion of a tie-up between a cryptocurrency and a major player – no matter how ill-founded – could send prices skyrocketing.

Coinbase plans to support the Ethereum ERC20 technical standard for tokens in the coming months.
The technical standard will allow the cryptocurrency exchange to support ERC20 assets and Ethereum tokens in the future, paving the way for the adoption of new ERC20 token contracts and products potentially including EOS, Tronix, ICON, VeChain, and Bytom.
On Monday, Coinbase said in a blog post that the move "paves the way for supporting ERC20 assets across Coinbase products in the future."
However, Coinbase has not revealed what specific assets or features will be supported and stressed that any additions will have to go through internal legal and risk checks, as well as gain approval by a committee of employees and executives using the Digital Asset Framework (.PDF).
In addition, any new assets will be made public prior to integration on the platform.
ERC20 is a popular standard for the creation of interoperable contracts. Native support for ERC20 is already integrated into the Coinbase wallet system, Toshi, which supports both ERC20 tokens and ERC721 assets.
