Turkish Muslim Sent To Prison Because He Wanted to Swear Only In Allah's Name

Cevdet Aydemir went to a court hearing in the Turkish city of Ağrı as a witness and said; "I will swear only by Allah." He was arrested and sent to prison.

Aydemir refused to take the procedural oath required by the court. Aydemir stated that he did not want to swear in the manner specified by law and would only swear upon Allah.

The court clearly reminded the witness that he was required to take the oath in the proper procedural form.

Upon Aydemir's insistence, it was decided, pursuant to Article 60 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the court imposed disciplinary imprisonment of up to 3 months.

On 29th October, CAGE International brought together survivors of enforced disappearance and detention, Islamic scholars, a human rights defender and a journalist in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to speak out against years of state repression.

Their testimonies shed light on years of repression under the former government, during which anti-terror laws and state institutions were used to target dissent.

The conference was part of CAGE's ongoing work to amplify the voices of survivors, support those challenging repression and bring these cases to international attention.

CCTV: Attack on London Mosque

An alarming incident took place at Hasanah mosque in Stratford, London at approximately 10:30pm on Friday 30th October 2026.

The mosque’s front-facing window was smashed, scattering broken glass throughout the main prayer hall. A metal rod reportedly entered through the broken window and struck the wall of the Mihrab, causing damage inside the mosque.

No arrests have been made so far, and police are continuing their inquiries.

A confidential UN report reveals that a UAE-linked security company recruited Colombian mercenaries to fight alongside Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been accused of genocide.
