Siapapun kita dan apapun profesi kita, kebutuhan akan komunikasi yang baik merupakan sebuah hal penting.
.
Menurut sebuah survey, ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi kesuksesan kita. Diantaranya adalah pendidikan formal. Alangkah mengejutkan, faktor yang menguras sebagian besar waktu kita ini hanya berpengaruh 15% terhadap kesuksesan seseorang.
.
Selanjutnya adalah faktor kepribadian. Memiliki sifat yang supel, jujur, amanah, dan hal positif lainnya ternyata juga memiliki andil terhadap kesuksesan sebanyak 16%.
.
Lain halnya dengan kemampuan berpikir . Ya, mampu menggagas ide kreatif dan cemerlang atau mencari solusi untuk mengatasi dan keluar dari masalah bukan perkara mudah. Itu sebabnya porsi ini memiliki persentase lebih tinggi, yakni 33%.
.
Menariknya, ada satu faktor lagi yang porsi pengaruhnya lebih besar ketimbang pendidikan formal, kepribadian, dan kemampuan berpikir. Faktor itu adalah keahlian berkomunikasi. Faktor ini memiliki pengaruh 36% !
.
Bayangkan saja jika ada profesor mengajar tentang sebuah bidang ilmu, tapi tak mampu mengkomunikasikannya dengan baik, besar kemungkinan akan ada gap kemengertian antara dirinya dengan para mahasiswanya. Alhasil, mungkin saja ia cerdas, tapi tidak mampu mencerdaskan mahasiswanya.

Keahlian berkomunikasi sangat bisa ditingkatkan jika sering bertemu, berkumpul dan berbicara dengan orang lain. Perluas wawasan dengan banyak membaca, mendengar dan melihat. Orang yang wawasannya luas punya banyak bahan untuk dia bisa menceritakan atau menjelaskan sesuatu atau ide sehingga dia mampu berbicara banyak dan lama sedetail mungkin. Ibarat memasak dan kita yang pandai memasak, semakin banyak macam bahan baku dan alat masaknya yang tersedia, kita mampu memasaknya menjadi berbagai macam rasa dan bentuk makanan.

Sehebat apapun ide atau gagasan, sepintar dan secerdas apapun seseorang, jika tidak bisa berkomunikasi/ mengkomunikasikannya dengan baik, maka ide tinggal ide, kepintaran dan kecerdasannya tidak bisa memintarkan dan mencerdaskan orang lain. Bekerjasama dengan banyak orang pun bisa jadi sulit.

Celebrating a Remarkable Journey and Welcoming a New Chapter
When I joined Toastmasters, I never imagined how much a supportive community could transform confidence, communication, and leadership.
As we approach the end of the 2025–2026 Toastmasters year, I find myself reflecting on a journey filled with learning, friendships, and meaningful growth. This year has been especially memorable for me because I had the privilege of introducing five new members to our World Travelers Toastmasters Club. Watching them take their first steps, share their voices, and begin their own leadership journeys has been one of my most rewarding experiences.
What makes this achievement even more meaningful is that it happened within a club that continues to inspire members from all around the world. Together, we have learned that communication is more than speaking—it is about connecting, encouraging, and helping others discover their potential.
I am also excited to celebrate the accomplishments of our 2025–2026 Executive Committee and to officially welcome our incoming 2026–2027 Executive Committee. Leadership in Toastmasters is not about titles; it is about service, commitment, and creating opportunities for others to grow. I look forward to seeing our new leaders continue building on the strong foundation that has made World Travelers Toastmasters Club a proud Smedley Distinguished Club.
Adding to this special occasion, we will be inspired by two extraordinary Toastmasters leaders:
🎤 Mohamed Qahtani, DTM, 2015 World Champion of Public Speaking, presenting his keynote speech, "The Butterfly Effect"
🎓 Richard E. Peck, DTM, PIP, our Installation Officer and Honorary Member of WTC, sharing his wisdom and guidance for the year ahead.
This event is more than an installation ceremony. For me, it is a reminder of why I joined Toastmasters in the first place: to grow, to serve, and to help others find their voice.
I invite you to join us as we celebrate our achievements, honor our leaders, welcome a new executive team, and look forward to another year of learning and transformation.

24 Hours, Zero Sleep, Infinite Growth 🌍🎤

They say time flies when you are having fun. But what happens when you spend 24 straight hours diving deep into leadership, communication, and global learning?
If you asked my coffee mug during the Toastmasters International 24-Hour Global Learning Marathon, it would officially file for a labor union. But looking back at the numbers, every single sleepless minute was entirely worth it!
We didn't just talk about growth; we lived it across 24 Districts, with 24 incredible speakers, and an astonishing 24 hours of continuous learning. As someone who spends a lot of time on stages speaking, facilitating, and occasionally pacing around a room wondering where I left my clicker, this marathon reminded me of a vital truth: the moment we think we know it all is probably the exact moment we stop growing.
What the Numbers and Our Global Family Say
Let’s talk data, because quantitative reports don't lie, even if my bed head after hour 20 definitely did:
