CTF (jeopardy)
When: Saturday, April 8, 12:00
Languages: English or Russian
CTF (Capture The Flag) is a kind of information security competition that challenges contestants to solve a variety of tasks ranging from a scavenger hunt on wikipedia to basic programming exercises, to hacking your way into a server to steal data. In these challenges, the contestant is usually asked to find a specific piece of text that may be hidden on the server or behind a webpage. This goal is called the flag, hence the name!
Jeopardy format means that there are separate tasks split into different categories.

Please read the papers prior to the seminar.
When: 14 Mar Friday 19:00-22:00
Lang: RU
Where: main room
We're doing something different this time: we'll discuss two papers we read at home, and then watch two talks from a recent conference.
Papers of the day:
- An empirical model of large-batch training
- The Hardware Lottery
Talks of the day:
- Topology meets BERTology
- Topology strikes back
Weβll walk through each paper and collectively resolve any unclear spots as we do so. Then weβll share our perspectives on the subject and figure our how the paper fits into our life.
Shall you get stuck as you read, pop over to our chat β weβll try to help.

HACK BASICS (theory + practice):
Writing a Lisp interpreter
When: Wednesday, April 19, 19:00
Languages: English or Russian
We continue our discovery of what programming and computation are in the essence. Previously we've successfully implemented a Turing machine emulator. However programs for the Turing machine do not look like programs in real languages. This time we'll implement an easily readable Lisp-like programming language able to work with numbers and strings.
What we'll learn and implement:
β’ Chomsky hierarchy of grammars (brief theory)
β’ Types of syntactic analysis (brief theory)
β’ Lexical analysis with a finite state machine
β’ Syntactic analysis with a simple recursive LL(1) parser
β’ S-expressions
β’ Garbage collection (optional)
β’ Lambda functions, closures
β’ "map", "filter", "reduce" and other typical higher-order functions
Bring a laptop with a compiler/interpreter of your choice.

Please work through the course materials at geometricdeeplearning.com prior to the seminar.
When: 23 Apr Sunday 14:00-16:00
Lang: RU
Where: main room
We are working through an open access course on geometric deep learning β an area aiming to find new neural net designs informed by the symmetries in data. It is believed that these will learn better on solved problems (like image classification) and generalize to new domains like graphs and meshes.
We are now officially past 51% of the lecture material, oh my!
Lecture 7
Chapter 4.2
We have a dedicated chat for the seminar. Do pop over with any questions.

Hey, guys! Ludum Dare is coming up!
Ludum Dare is an awesome global online game jam. And now, we'll finally gather at the hackspace to collaborate and immerse ourselves in the shared atmosphere. Here is the rules.
Join us next weekend to create games!
We kick off at 10:00 on April 29, and the jam lasts for two days.
You can come as a team, participate solo, or form a team right at the event. You can write code, create storylines, draw, make music β anything that can be turned into a game!
Please note that we have limited spots available, so registration is mandatory. Participation is free, but donations are welcome.
If you don't want to participate in the hackathon itself, you're still welcome to bring your game for the final presentation at 18:00 on April 30.
