Hello good folk, from Southern Africa one of our partners has put together a twitter campaign to raise awareness in and around this day from an african perspective, I’m gonna share a few instructions and the letter that has gone out with a little background. Your support is invaluable. Thunder doesn’t make flowers grow, raindrops do:
My dear fellow humans,
Following on from last week’s Kavango Alive elephant PR, we are further asking partners and friends, such as yourselves for another little push, this time on twitter, so the world becomes awash with the fact that our last great herd of African elephants is also your last herd of African elephants, where ever you may be.
Today, May 22 is World Biodiversity Day. Kavango Alive once again partners with the GMER to shed light on darkness:
In the past 50 years, an incomprehensible 2/3rds of earth's animals have disappeared. The causal factors are anthropogenic, and, despite #COVID19, a disease caused by SARS-COV-2, a virus that is likely the result of a wild-life-related spillover, humans appeared to have learnt very little.
China continues to exploit the body parts of critically endangered creatures for #TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), a billion dollar industry that will only be amplified via its BRI (Belt and Road Initiative), and extraction industries continue to exploit pristine wild areas for profit. ReconAfrica, a Canadian extraction company, is currently engaged in exploratory activities in Namibia's Okavago Delta as it hunts for oil in a region that is home to earth's last elephants. Add to this, the macabre reality of trophy hunting; the bodies of savanna elephants who are now designated endangered by the IUCN are traded for a profit by African governments, to "rich" trophy hunters from the west.
The automated tweet sheet(s) highlight the tragedy of our disappearing wild world in the context of a 6th mass extinction induced by humans and demands action from governments and international bodies.
We would really appreciate the URL (tweet sheet) to be SHARED widely.
USAGE:
Login to your twitter account
Open the auto-tweet-sheet via this URL: https://sites.google.com/view/end-of-nature/
CLICK button to tweet each tweet (going back and forth from twitter to the tweet-sheet will be necessary). There are 48 tweets in total (3 pages), we may add a few more as needed
Be careful not to go too fast, twitter will BAN you if you tweet out too many tweets within a short time frame; ergo, go slow, giving yourself several seconds between tweets
Holler if you have questions
Thank you and have fun.

Warmly,
