Russian Crypto Users Neglect Asset Origin Checks

A recent study reveals that nearly half (48.4%) of Russian crypto market participants do not verify the origin of their digital assets or counterparties. This highlights a significant compliance gap, with only 51.6% performing such checks.

While AML mechanisms evolve, they aren't standard yet. Exchange-integrated functions (26.6%) are the top tool for checks, followed by specialized services like BitOK (11.7%).

The survey also reveals 73.6% held crypto over three years, weathering the 2022 crash, and 57.4% use digital assets for business. A significant 56.7% allocate over 30% of their portfolio to crypto, with trading (26.5%) and investments (25.5%) being primary uses.

Most users (55.9%) opt for non-custodial wallets, while 38.6% use centralized exchanges. Bybit dominates among traders (36.9%), with 87.4% leveraging their positions.
Ripple CEO Teases "Something Special" for XRP Holders

Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple's CEO, hinted at potential exclusive benefits for XRP holders, possibly linked to a future Ripple IPO. He affirmed, "We think that’s good for the community," when pressed on direct advantages for XRP investors.

Despite this, Garlinghouse clarified that an IPO is "not a priority" currently, citing unfavorable public market conditions for crypto firms and delayed plans from others like BitGo. He joked that staying private allows him more freedom of speech.

Meanwhile, XRP recently dipped below $1.40 support, struggling to overcome $1.45 resistance. Whale accumulation is notable, with 1.2 billion XRP added in Q1 2026, signaling growing institutional interest. Garlinghouse emphasized the next two weeks are crucial, tied to the CLARITY Act deadline.
Heritage Insurance Shares Soar After Strong Q4 Results

Heritage Insurance Holdings (HRTG) saw its stock jump over 5% pre-market after reporting Q4 earnings that significantly surpassed analyst expectations, driven by improved underwriting and lower catastrophe losses.

The property and casualty insurer posted adjusted EPS of $2.15, well above the $0.98 consensus, with revenue reaching $215.32 million, also beating estimates. The net combined ratio improved dramatically to 62.0% from 89.7% year-over-year, largely due to zero catastrophe losses compared to $40 million last year.

CEO Ernie Garateix attributed the record earnings to strategic initiatives, disciplined underwriting, and favorable weather. The company also announced a 72.5% increase in book value per share to $16.39 and suspended its dividend to fund strategic growth, including expansion into the Texas market.
Cybersecurity Brief: ME Conflict Fuels Attacks, iPhone Spyware Found, Cybercrime Forum Busted

Escalating Middle East tensions have triggered a surge in cyberattacks across 16 countries. Radware reported 149 DDoS incidents targeting 110 organizations, mainly government entities. Hactivist groups like Hider Nex and Russian Legion were active, breaching military networks and launching SMS phishing.

Google discovered 'Coruna,' a powerful exploit package for older iOS versions (13-17.2.1), suspected to be leaked government-grade spyware. This dangerous tool facilitates 'watering hole' attacks via 23 vulnerabilities, indicating a growing market for 'second-hand' exploits.

In a significant blow to cybercrime, the FBI, alongside Europol, shut down LeakBase, a forum with 142,000 members used for trading hacking tools and stolen data, resulting in global arrests.
Bitcoin Stabilizes Near $67K Amid Bearish Options Activity

BTC holds steady around $67,000, but options markets show traders aggressively buying downside protection. This signals a cautious sentiment, with many hedging against potential price drops.

Average US ETF investors face a 20% paper loss from an $84,000 cost basis. Despite some institutional buying, retail markets remain skittish, fueled by contagion fears from recent events like Blockfills freezing withdrawals. Traditional markets also show risk-off behavior.

Technical support lies between $66,000-$68,000. A break below this could see BTC fall to $60,000 or $55,000. Bulls hope for a swift recovery to instill confidence.
Ex-BOJ Chief Kuroda Predicts Further Rate Hikes

Former Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda anticipates 3-4 additional interest rate increases of 0.25% each, pushing the policy rate to approximately 1.5% by 2027 from its current 0.75%.

He suggests the BOJ would "normally" hike at its April meeting. Kuroda believes the Iran conflict would accelerate, not halt, monetary normalization.
Bitcoin's Taproot: 99% of Transactions Are "Dust"

The Taproot upgrade, designed for enhanced privacy and flexibility on Bitcoin, is largely being used for unintended purposes. Steve Jeffress, UTXOracle creator, revealed that approximately 99% of Taproot transactions are "__dust__," meaning they are extremely small amounts and not genuine financial transfers. This was not the anticipated behavior.

Jeffress's analysis shows a stark contrast between standard Bitcoin payments, which typically involve larger, round-sum outputs, and Taproot transactions. The latter heavily concentrate in the 100-1000 satoshi range.

This "__dust__" usage is primarily attributed to two factors: Lightning Network channel financing and metaprotocols like Ordinals and Runes. These protocols leverage P2TR outputs as wrappers, generating numerous tiny outputs.

Ultimately, Taproot's adoption is driven by protocol developers and the Lightning Network, rather than a widespread shift from traditional address types by ev
UNI at Critical Juncture as CEXs Reclaim Spotlight

Uniswap's governance token, UNI, holds strong at $3.50, up 4.5% intraday. Yet, the crypto market's recovery highlights a resurgent role for Centralized Exchanges (CEXs), intensifying the CEX vs. DEX debate. UNI now faces a pivotal technical crossroads.

With Kraken eyeing an IPO and Coinbase dominating retail, Uniswap v4 pivots as a programmable liquidity layer, redefining its valuation. UNI consolidates within a $3.10–$3.95 range, with moving averages showing a mild bearish alignment.

Analysts target $4.22 if support holds. A bull scenario could see UNI reclaim $3.7 for a run to $4.15. Conversely, a close below $3.3 might trigger a fall to $3.25. The piece also discusses early-stage projects like LiquidChain as contrasting investment opportunities.
Popular Inc. Director Sells $204K in BPOP Stock

Popular, Inc. (BPOP) Director Alejandro M. Sanchez sold 1,451 shares on Feb 26, 2026, for approximately $204,373. The sale, at prices between $140.80 and $140.97, follows a strong 38% stock return over the past year. Sanchez now directly owns 3,414.816 shares.

The sale coincides with positive company news: Popular recently reported Q4 2025 EPS of $3.53, beating estimates by 16.5%. Despite a minor revenue shortfall, 2026 guidance projects growth in loans and net interest income. A $0.75 quarterly dividend was declared. BofA Securities upgraded BPOP to Buy, citing sustainable mid-teens return on tangible common equity. Additionally, board member Myrna M. Soto's retirement will reduce the board size, highlighting Popular’s strategic focus.
Paul Tudor Jones: Bitcoin is Top Inflation Hedge

Tudor Investment founder Paul Tudor Jones declared Bitcoin the best asset for inflation protection on the "Invest Like the Best" podcast. He argues BTC surpasses gold due to its fixed 21 million coin supply, contrasting with gold's annual increase.

Jones identifies market imbalances reminiscent of the 2000 dot-com bubble. He also backs the USD/JPY pair.

"Conviction buyers" significantly boosted their Bitcoin holdings by 69% in Q1 2026, reaching a 2020 high. Jones, who first invested in 2020, now allocates up to 5% of his portfolio to the crypto.

He noted risks including cyber warfare and quantum computing's potential to compromise blockchain security.
Aave Rocked by $293M Hack, TVL Plummets $8B

DeFi lending giant Aave is reeling after a $293 million hack on Kelp DAO's LayerZero bridge created $195 million in bad debt on Aave v3. This catastrophic event triggered an $8 billion collapse in Aave's Total Value Locked (TVL), falling from $26.4B to $17.94B and costing it the top DeFi spot.

The AAVE token is bleeding, down ~21% in seven days to $90-$91, fueled by "panic volume." Other protocols like Curve and Ethena have paused LayerZero bridge use. Aave now faces a severe "protocol-specific credibility crisis," making a swift recovery difficult. Continued TVL outflow below $15B could see the token drop further towards $70.
Watsco Reports Q4 Earnings and Revenue Miss

Watsco (WSO) announced Q4 EPS of $1.68, missing the $1.88 analyst estimate by $0.20. Quarterly revenue also fell short, reaching $1.58 billion against a $1.62 billion consensus.

The company's stock closed at $417.92. Shares have climbed 24.15% in the last three months but declined 21.26% over the past year.

Analysts issued 14 negative EPS revisions for Watsco in the past 90 days, with no positive adjustments. Despite these figures, the firm's financial health is rated as good.
Google DeepMind Unveils Lyria 3 AI Music Model

Google DeepMind has integrated its new AI music generation model, Lyria 3, into the Gemini chatbot. Users can create 30-second audio tracks from text prompts, photos, or videos, simply by describing an idea.

Lyria 3 offers significant enhancements, including creative control over style, vocals, and tempo. It can generate more realistic and musically complex compositions, with an LLM assisting in lyric creation.

The model is available in several languages, initially on desktop, with mobile access soon. Google states the goal is unique self-expression. All generated tracks feature a hidden SynthID watermark for AI identification. This release comes as AI music generation rapidly expands, with 97% of listeners unable to distinguish AI from human-made tracks.
Dogecoin's Rally Stalls; Maxi Doge Presale Nears $5M

Dogecoin's three-week surge has ended, with DOGE reversing sharply. Down 3.37% (24h) and 1% (7d), it now trades near $0.107. A 55.80% volume spike suggests panic, not conviction, as no fundamental catalyst drove its 29% climb. X Money/SpaceX speculation fizzled, and a stalled broader crypto market adds pressure.

Analysts are skeptical of a quick recovery. Reclaiming $0.116 is improbable without new catalysts. A break below $0.10582 could see DOGE drop to $0.09. The path remains sideways-to-lower, as significant capital rotation for recovery isn't visible.

Meanwhile, capital shifts to promising presales. Maxi Doge ($MAXI) has raised nearly $5 million. This ERC-20 token, at $0.0002817 in presale, combines a "never skip leg-day" meme identity with structural mechanics like a Maxi Fund treasury and dynamic staking APY. Maxi Doge targets "grind culture" buyers, offering community upside where DOGE offers nostalgia. Presale risk
BlueScope Rejects Revised Takeover Bid, Citing Undervaluation

BlueScope Steel has rebuffed a revised A$15 billion takeover bid from a consortium including SGH Ltd and Steel Dynamics, citing significant undervaluation. The board highlighted the A$34.00/share offer's true value is lower due to included dividends, potentially dropping to A$31.00 with future distributions.

BlueScope reiterated the proposal fails to address valuation concerns and remains insufficient for shareholder recommendation. It also challenged "onerous conditions" and sought clarity on valuation split, North American business sale structure, and financing commitments. BlueScope shares dipped 5%.
OpenAI Unleashes Collaborative AI Agents & Enhanced Privacy

OpenAI introduces "workspace agents" in ChatGPT, empowering teams to create shared AI assistants for complex, multi-step tasks. These cloud-based agents, powered by Codex, automate human-like duties from reports to code, even when users are offline. OpenAI states that while AI boosts individual productivity, these agents tackle complex team workflows by gathering context, following processes, requesting approvals, and coordinating tools. This aims to free up human talent for more strategic work. Available in ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu, and K-12 plans.
XRP: BlackRock Interest & Regulatory Clarity Could Spark Major Rally

Despite being down 30% YTD at $1.41, XRP is seeing renewed institutional interest. Expert Jake Claver suggests Wall Street giants like BlackRock are poised to enter the market once regulatory clarity emerges, calling it a "massive catalyst."

BlackRock has notably filed for an XRP trust product, following Grayscale and 21Shares. This move has already driven $120 million in XRP ETP inflows last week, signaling a precise setup fueled by regulatory momentum and institutional product development.

Technically, XRP consolidates around $1.40. An upward resolution of a symmetrical triangle could target $1.58, potentially extending to $1.80–$2.40. Standard Chartered predicts $2.80 by 2026 and $12.60 by 2028. However, a drop below $1.28 might reopen the $0.85–$1.10 range. The next 30 days in Washington are crucial.
Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations" at 250: Enduring Economic Lessons

Adam Smith's seminal work, The Wealth of Nations, published 250 years ago, continues to fuel today's economic debates. Hailed as the "father of capitalism," Smith's 1776 text surprisingly aligns with modern progressive calls to "tax the rich," "trash tariffs," and "end monopolies."

Smith, a moral philosopher, championed free trade but critically viewed extreme affluence. He argued the rich should contribute "more than in proportion" to public expense, asserting no society can thrive with "the far greater part... poor and miserable." While often cited for free markets, scholars note his "invisible hand" metaphor is frequently misinterpreted; Smith actually critiqued special interests and monopolies. His work remains a potent "tool for producing ideas," sparking ongoing interpretation.
Western Union to Launch USD Stablecoin on Solana

Western Union is set to introduce USDPT, a new USD-pegged stablecoin on the Solana blockchain. This initiative, in partnership with Web3 platform Crossmint, aims to bridge digital assets with traditional finance.

USDPT's key feature is direct conversion to national currencies, allowing users to cash out digital dollars at over 360,000 Western Union locations across 200+ countries. Crossmint will provide the underlying technology, including crypto wallets and payment APIs, for WU's "Digital Asset Network."

The choice of Solana highlights its recent surge in the stablecoin market, with transaction volumes reaching a record $650 billion in February, making it a leader among all networks. Experts believe stablecoins are crucial for mass crypto adoption, and Solana is well-positioned for retail payments.
MicroStrategy Targets 1 Million Bitcoin by 2026

MicroStrategy is pursuing an ambitious plan to accumulate 1 million BTC by the end of 2026. Currently holding 628,900 BTC, the firm needs an additional 371,100 coins, requiring $22 billion in fresh capital over the next two years. This translates to buying approximately 6,158 BTC weekly.

The strategy, rooted in Saylor's vision, relies on raising capital, primarily through equity issuance and fixed-income instruments. This aggressive corporate treasury approach hinges on the MSTR share premium over its net asset value, a metric Saylor calls "Bitcoin Yield."

While the buying spree has been relentless, a key vulnerability exists: if MSTR's share premium vanishes, its equity issuance mechanism could fail, risking the entire strategy. Saylor's high-stakes bet will either secure 1M BTC or become a historic corporate recalibration.
