Category: Markets
Mumbai-based real estate advisory major Anarock Property Consultants Limited has submitted its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to raise up to ₹1,000 crore via an initial public offering (IPO). Premier Indian law firm Khaitan & Co acted as legal counsel to the company for the draft filing, handling regulatory clearance procedures as well as shareholder agreement-related facets of the transaction.
The proposed issue marks a key milestone for the domestic real estate advisory sector, offering public market investors exposure to an asset-light, tech-led property transaction and consulting platform.
Issue Structure and Key Participants
The ₹1,000 crore public issue is structured as a mix of fresh issuance and a secondary stake sale:
• Fresh Issue: Equity shares aggregating up to ₹550 crore.
• Offer for Sale (OFS): Equity shares aggregating up to ₹450 crore from promoters and existing financial investors.
• Pre-IPO Placement: Anarock may consider a pre-IPO round of up to ₹110 crore in consultation with merchant bankers. If executed, the fresh issue component will be proportionately trimmed.
Under the OFS segment, promoter selling entities Peter Properties Limited and Khushi Trust intend to divest shares worth up to ₹130.95 crore and ₹60.36 crore, respectively. Promoters hold an aggregate 66.41% stake in the firm on a fully diluted basis. Financial investor funds managed by 360 ONE Alternates Asset Management Limited—which acquired an 18.77% stake in 2024 for ₹200 crore—will offload shares worth ₹225 crore. Other selling shareholders include Om Sai Trust, Coralred Consultants and Traders LLP, and Anuj A. Kejriwal.
The book-running lead managers (BRLMs) steering the public float are ICICI Securities, IIFL Capital Services, and 360 ONE WAM, while KFin Technologies will serve as the registrar to the issue.
The legal advisory team at Khaitan & Co was led by Corporate & Commercial Partners Bhavik Narsana and Kinshuk Jhunjhunwala, alongside Senior Associate Ipshita Dey.
Objectives of the Fresh Proceeds
Anarock plans to deploy net proceeds from the fresh issue across technology, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and business expansion between FY28 and FY31:
• AI and Tech Infrastructure: ₹120 crore has been earmarked for digital capabilities, comprising ₹80 crore for artificial intelligence (AI) augmentation in its transaction advisory business, ₹25 crore for the Anarock Channel Partner (ACP) platform, and ₹15 crore for Anacity, its enterprise solutions platform run through subsidiary Anarock Group Business Services....

Sensex Falls 252 Points and Nifty Slips to 22,622 as Rising Crude and FII Outflows Dent Sentiment
Category: Markets
Indian equity benchmark indices surrendered their previous session's sharp gains on Wednesday, ending lower amid profit booking, rising crude oil prices, and sustained foreign institutional investor (FII) selling pressure.
The BSE Sensex dropped 251.89 points, or 0.34 per cent, to settle at 72,781.89, while the NSE Nifty 50 slipped 99.25 points, or 0.44 per cent, to close at 22,622.70.
Macro Headwinds and Analyst Commentary
The retreat followed a strong recovery on Tuesday, with participants choosing to cash in on gains amid geopolitical supply risks and ongoing capital outflows by overseas funds.
Vikram Kasat, Chief Business Officer – Advisory and Dealing at PL Capital, noted that domestic equities experienced profit booking right after the sharp recovery.
"Rising crude prices amid geopolitical supply concerns and sustained FII selling are weighing on sentiment, raising concerns over imported inflation, rupee stability and corporate margins," Kasat said.
He pointed out that corporate earnings visibility, trajectory of crude prices, and foreign fund flow trends will dictate the path ahead for domestic markets, advising market participants to maintain portfolio discipline, focus on companies with sound fundamentals, and avoid chasing temporary rallies.

SEBI Proposes Revamp to Expand Accredited Investor Pool to 4 Lakh for AIFs
Category: Markets
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has released a consultation paper proposing a wide-ranging overhaul of the Accredited Investor (AI) framework. The move is designed to dismantle bureaucratic hurdles and significantly expand access to high-risk, high-return private market instruments such as Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), Portfolio Management Services (PMS), and Angel Funds.
According to SEBI, introducing a new eligibility criterion based on dematerialised securities market holdings could expand the pool of eligible accredited investors to approximately 4 lakh. In comparison, India’s current active AIF investor base stands at approximately 1 lakh (around 96,000 investors), while barely 3,820 individuals held formal accreditation certificates as of mid-2026 due to onerous certification procedures.
The proposed reforms stem from market feedback and recommendations submitted by SEBI’s Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee (AIPAC).
New Securities-Asset Eligibility Route
Under the existing framework established in 2021, individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), family trusts, and sole proprietorships must satisfy rigid income or net-worth thresholds to earn accreditation. Current criteria require an annual income of at least ₹2 crore, a net worth of at least ₹7.5 crore (with 50% in financial assets), or an annual income of ₹1 crore coupled with a ₹5 crore net worth.
SEBI has now proposed an additional, verifiable pathway based strictly on dematerialised market wealth:
• Individual Investors: Must hold at least ₹5 crore in securities market assets.
• Body Corporates: Must maintain at least ₹20 crore in securities market assets.
Eligible securities include listed equities, debt instruments, units of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), AIF units, mutual fund holdings, open futures positions, and unlisted securities held in demat form. SEBI noted that portfolio holdings verify an investor’s financial capability and signal familiarity with financial market volatility and risk.
Simplifying the Onboarding Architecture
Currently, investors must seek third-party verification through designated Accreditation Agencies, a process criticized by domestic wealth managers for being cumbersome and short-lived. SEBI is introducing operational relaxations to eliminate friction:
• Manager-Led Accreditation: Fund managers and intermediaries will be permitted to verify and accredit investors directly during onboarding, with accreditation valid across the intermediary's corporate group.
• Longer Certificate Validity: The validity period of accredited investor status is proposed to be extended to a uniform three years based on the latest verified documentation, replacing the current one- to two-year renewal cycles....

Zoho Shareholding Pattern Spotlights Radha Vembu as Majority Owner While Sridhar Vembu Holds Just 5 Percent
Category: Markets
The ownership architecture of Zoho Corporation Private Limited—India’s premier bootstrapped software-as-a-service (SaaS) titan—presents an equity breakdown that upends standard Silicon Valley and Indian startup norms. While Padma Shri awardee Sridhar Vembu has long served as the celebrated face, strategic architect, and longtime chief executive of the company, official cap table disclosures reveal that his personal stake is merely 5 percent.
Instead, the single largest equity block is held by his sister, Radha Vembu, who commands 47.8 percent of the privately held corporation. His brother, Sekar Vembu, holds 35.2 percent, giving the two siblings combined voting control of over 83 percent of the enterprise. Longtime co-founder Tony Thomas holds an 8 percent stake, with the remaining 4 percent distributed among other early stakeholders.
A Bootstrapped Powerhouse Built Differently
Founded originally as AdventNet in the late 1990s before rebranding to Zoho Corporation, the company bypassed venture capital and private equity funding rounds that typically dilute founding families. Operating out of headquarters in Chennai and rural hubs like Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu, Zoho built an enterprise suite spanning CRM, productivity tools, and cloud infrastructure serving millions of global users.
Because the company never turned to external institutional investors, its equity stayed entirely within the core founding circle:
• Radha Vembu (47.8%): Managing key product lines, including Zoho Workplace and Zoho Mail, her stake has positioned her among India's wealthiest self-made women on global billionaire rankings.
• Sekar Vembu (35.2%): A co-founder of AdventNet and founder of Vembu Technologies, his significant shareholding reflects the family's foundational operational contributions.
• Tony Thomas (8.0%): Co-founder and early technical cornerstone of AdventNet.
• Sridhar Vembu (5.0%): Founder, strategic visionary, and former CEO who transitioned into the role of chief scientist to focus on long-term R&D and deep tech.
• Other Shareholders (4.0%): Early team members and minority stakeholders.
Legal Scrutiny and Public Controversy
The unusual cap table came into sharp public and judicial focus following divorce proceedings filed in California by Sridhar Vembu’s estranged spouse, Pramila Srinivasan. Srinivasan alleged that Sridhar Vembu restructured intellectual property and shifted valuable equity to his siblings in India to prevent assets from falling under California’s community property division laws....

Market Performance Today
Indian equity benchmarks surrendered the previous session's robust gains on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as sustained foreign capital outflows and high crude oil prices dampened risk appetite. Following a volatile trading session characterized by choppy intraday moves, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined by 251.89 points, or 0.34%, to settle at 72,781.89. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty 50 dropped 99.25 points, or 0.44%, to close at 22,622.70.
The benchmark indices opened on a subdued note, briefly attempted to hold above key support levels, but eventually succumbed to persistent selling pressure in financial and healthcare heavyweights during afternoon trade.
Top Movers (Sectors and Stocks)
Sectoral performance remained mixed on Wednesday, with defensives like IT and FMCG showing relative resilience against widespread declines in cyclical and rate-sensitive pockets.
Sectoral Highlights:
• Top Gaining Sectors: Nifty IT (+1.25%) led the advance, followed by Nifty FMCG (+0.94%), Nifty Media (+0.59%), and Nifty PSU Bank (+0.14%).
• Top Losing Sectors: Nifty Pharma (-1.47%) was the biggest drag, followed by Nifty Auto (-0.94%), Nifty Realty (-0.87%), Nifty Financial Services (-0.64%), and Nifty Metal (-0.67%).
Stock Highlights:
• Top Nifty Gainers: Nestle India, Infosys, Tata Consumer Products, Coal India, Tech Mahindra, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) posted notable gains, supported by earnings optimism and defensive positioning.
• Top Nifty Losers: Shriram Finance, HDFC Life Insurance Company, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Sun Pharma, and Mahindra & Mahindra ended among the primary laggards of the day.
Key Drivers of Today's Market
Several key domestic and international factors drove market movement during the session:
• Surging Global Crude Prices: Brent crude hovered around $106 to $107 per barrel amid escalating geopolitical tensions and supply disruption fears in the Middle East. Elevated energy prices renewed concerns regarding imported inflation, corporate margin pressures, and the stability of the Indian rupee.
• Persistent FII Outflows: Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) continued their aggressive offloading of domestic equities, extending a multi-session selling streak. Even though Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) offered downside support through regular purchases, persistent foreign fund exits kept market upside capped.
• Profit-Taking After Tuesday’s Rally: Following the substantial 1.6% surge recorded by major indices on Tuesday, market participants opted to book profits, especially in sectors that had witnessed sharp short-term run-ups....

SEBI Considers Major Overhaul of SME IPO Norms to Lower Entry Barriers for Retail Investors
Category: Markets
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is exploring a comprehensive revamp of regulations governing initial public offerings on small and medium enterprise (SME) platforms. The proposals, recently evaluated by SEBI's Primary Market Advisory Committee, seek to dismantle steep investment hurdles for retail participants while modernising eligibility metrics for growing corporate issuers.
The regulator is expected to formalise these deliberations in an upcoming public consultation paper before notifying final amendments to the Issue of Capital and Disclosure Requirements (ICDR) regulations.
Dismantling the Minimum Lot Size
Among the most consequential changes under review is the potential removal of the rigid lot-size framework for SME stocks. Under existing norms, investors must apply for SME IPOs and trade their shares in predefined batches typically requiring a minimum financial outlay of ₹2 lakh. This structural barrier was originally installed to deter small investors from high-risk, volatile counters.
Under the proposed revisions, SEBI is considering allowing secondary market trading in individual shares or much smaller ticket sizes. Eliminating the ₹2 lakh minimum lot requirement would democratise liquidity, expand genuine retail participation, and facilitate tighter bid-ask spreads across the segment.
Expanding Valuation Limits for Issuers
Alongside retail-friendly trading mechanisms, SEBI is also considering an expansion of company size thresholds permitted on SME bourses such as NSE Emerge and BSE SME:
• Higher Paid-up Capital Ceiling: Increasing the maximum permissible post-issue paid-up capital to ₹100 crore, up fourfold from the present ceiling of ₹25 crore.
• Market Capitalisation Cap: Permitting enterprises with valuations of up to ₹4,000 crore to raise funds via SME exchange platforms, compared to the current informal threshold where companies valued below ₹500 crore typically opt for SME routes.
• Dual Listing Flexibility: Allowing mid-sized enterprises valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹4,000 crore the flexibility to choose whether to list on the mainboard or an SME platform.
Lowering Issuance Costs and Market-Making Mandates
The regulator is also examining measures to compress primary issuance costs for corporate promoters. Current guidelines make three-year market-making and full merchant banker underwriting compulsory for SME issues. While designed to guarantee price quotes and issue success, these provisions add significant advisory and capital-retention costs to small businesses.
Under the discussed framework, SEBI could ease or remove mandatory underwriting requirements and re-evaluate compulsory market-making mandates, allowing organic order-book depth and institutional demand to determine price action.
Implications for Indian Investors...

NBFC Shares Tumble up to 5% After RBI Hikes Daily CRR Maintenance to 99%
Category: Markets
Shares of non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and housing finance firms came under heavy selling pressure, sliding up to 5% as market participants factored in the fallout from the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) revised Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) maintenance guidelines.
The regulatory tweak, which mandates scheduled commercial banks to adhere to a stricter daily cash reserve threshold, triggered fresh worries that bank liquidity could dry up and lift funding costs across the shadow banking ecosystem.
Key Stocks Under Selling Pressure
Housing financiers and retail asset lenders led the losses on Dalal Street:
• LIC Housing Finance: Plunged 5.14% to trade at ₹535.00.
• Shriram Finance: Slid 3.85% to ₹950.00.
• HDB Financial Services: Fell 4.02% to ₹584.55.
• Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company: Dropped 3.56% to ₹1,563.00.
• L&T Finance: Declined 3.29% to ₹258.80.
• Tata Capital: Fell 3.28% to ₹316.90.
• Bajaj Finance: Shed 2.62% to ₹957.00, while Bajaj Finserv fell 1.94% to ₹1,721.70.
• Muthoot Finance: Dropped 1.75% to ₹2,580.00.
The Regulatory Shift Explained
Under the revised framework announced by the central bank, commercial banks are now required to maintain a minimum of 99% of their prescribed CRR requirement on each day of the reporting fortnight, up sharply from the earlier floor of 90%. The new rule becomes effective from the reporting fortnight beginning October 16, 2026.
While the headline statutory CRR remains unchanged at 3% of net demand and time liabilities (NDTL), the stricter daily maintenance eliminates the operational leeway banks previously enjoyed to manage cash deficits or surpluses across the fortnight. Because CRR balances kept with the RBI earn zero interest, holding higher and more rigid daily balances restricts lenders' ability to deploy capital into short-term lending facilities.
Liquidity Drain and Higher Borrowing Costs
Global brokerage Jefferies estimated that banks may need to raise their cash balances held with the RBI by 5% to 10% to comfortably comply with the 99% daily mandate. This adjustment is projected to absorb ₹40,000 crore to ₹80,000 crore (₹400 billion to ₹800 billion) of liquidity from the banking system.
Jefferies noted that while the direct impact on banks' net interest margins (NIMs) may be modest—increasing banks' cost of funds by an estimated 1 to 2 basis points—banks are likely to pass these incremental costs on to commercial borrowers.

SEBI Confirms Interim Directions Against Rajesh Exports Over Financial Misrepresentation Probe
Category: Markets
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has confirmed and continued the directions issued against Bengaluru-headquartered gold refiner Rajesh Exports Limited and its promoter-chairman Rajesh Mehta. In a confirmatory order issued on October 14, 2026, the markets watchdog upheld the regulatory curbs and investigative mandates initiated in its earlier ex-parte interim order.
The regulatory action stems from an extensive probe into the company’s accounts between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2025 (FY21 to FY25). SEBI’s initial 109-page interim order, passed on June 3, 2026, by Whole-Time Member Kamlesh Chandra Varshney, alleged that Rajesh Exports had engaged in multi-year financial misrepresentation involving approximately ₹15.15 lakh crore in consolidated revenues.
Key Findings and Directives Upheld
The regulator maintained its prima facie findings regarding significant corporate governance lapses, lack of disclosure, and accounting irregularities. With the confirmatory order, the interim directions remain fully operative:
• Restraint on Promoter: Promoter and Executive Chairman Rajesh Mehta continues to be barred from dealing in the securities of Rajesh Exports until the completion of ongoing regulatory proceedings.
• Continuation of Forensic Audit: The mandate for an exhaustive independent forensic audit into the company's books of accounts and transactions remains in effect.
• Disclosure Requirements: The company remains directed to provide unhindered cooperation, books of accounts, and primary transaction records to investigators and auditors.
• Regulatory Scrutiny of Overseas Numbers: Scrutiny will continue over the reported financials of its foreign subsidiaries, including Swiss gold refinery Valcambi SA, which accounted for between 97% and 99.8% of the company's consolidated top line during the period under examination.
Background of the Regulatory Action
The probe originated from a shareholder complaint concerning long-pending trade receivables and financial disclosures. SEBI noted in its initial proceedings that Rajesh Exports had withheld access to underlying accounting records and primary transaction data, often citing foreign data privacy frameworks such as the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) to avoid disclosing subsidiary-level details. The regulator dismissed these defenses, ruling that listed Indian entities cannot cite foreign data regimes to sidestep domestic reporting obligations....

Paramotor Digital Technology Files Updated DRHP for Rs 1,000 Crore IPO
Category: Markets
Mumbai-based fintech and enterprise SaaS provider Paramotor Digital Technology Limited has formally submitted its Updated Draft Red Herring Prospectus (UDRHP-I) to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The filing reveals a total initial public offering (IPO) size of up to Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion), paving the way for the company’s equity debut on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE).
The submission marks the progression of the listing process following Paramotor's use of SEBI's confidential pre-filing route in May 2026, which secured regulatory observations in late August 2026.
Issue Structure and Size
According to the updated draft documents, the proposed public issue features equity shares of face value Rs 10 each and is structured as follows:
• Fresh Issue: Equity shares aggregating up to Rs 698.00 crore (Rs 6,980 million), intended to fund capital expenditure, corporate growth, and platform investments.
• Offer for Sale (OFS): Equity shares aggregating up to Rs 302.00 crore (Rs 3,020 million) offloaded by promoters Sonia Pankaj Asher and Rahul Anand.
• Total Offer Size: Aggregating up to Rs 1,000.00 crore (Rs 10,000 million).
Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors and Equirus Capital are acting as the book-running lead managers to the issue.
Business Profile and Product Ecosystem
Founded in November 2016 by Sonia Pankaj Asher and Rahul Anand, Paramotor Digital Technology originally launched as a point-of-sale (POS) terminal service provider before pivoting into an asset-light, multi-platform SaaS fintech architecture. Unlike many venture-backed contemporaries, the company has operated organically without institutional external funding, leaning on internal cash generation to power operations.
The enterprise operates across four primary software verticals:
• SpendPro: A consumer and corporate spend management solution anchored by prepaid card instruments.
• RewardOn: An enterprise rewards and loyalty program suite deployed by businesses for customer engagement, retention, and channel-incentive delivery.
• yayyy.shop: A direct-to-consumer digital gifting marketplace housing prepaid and brand gift cards spanning hundreds of merchant partnerships.
• DevStack: An enterprise software engineering vertical delivering bespoke fintech infrastructure and workflow digitization solutions.
Strategic Context and Market Relevance
The public filing comes amid an active primary market environment for domestic financial technology and SaaS firms in India. Paramotor has recently moved to expand its network reach, signing alliances with entities including NSDL Payments Bank and Mastercard Asia/Pacific to issue prepaid and gift cards, alongside enterprise distribution tie-ups....

Groww Q2 Net Profit Dips 1.4% Sequentially to Rs 725 Crore as Closing Auction System Hits F&O Revenues
Category: Markets
Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the parent company of India’s leading retail stockbroking platform Groww, posted a marginal sequential slowdown in its financial performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026. A drop in equity derivatives trading triggered by the rollout of the Closing Auction System (CAS) weighed on operational metrics, even as year-on-year expansion remained sharp.
Key Q2 FY27 Financial Highlights
For the July–September quarter (Q2 FY27), Groww reported:
• Net Profit: Consolidated profit after tax slipped 1.4% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 724.70 crore, compared to Rs 735 crore in Q1 FY27. On a year-on-year basis, net profit climbed 53.9% from Rs 471 crore in Q2 FY26.
• Revenue from Operations & Total Income: Total income fell 0.5% sequentially to Rs 1,541 crore from Rs 1,549 crore in the prior quarter, but rose 43.9% year-on-year against Rs 1,071 crore in Q2 FY26.
• Operating EBITDA & Margins: EBITDA edged up 1% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 968 crore from Rs 960 crore, with EBITDA margins expanding 60 basis points sequentially to 64.5%.
• Stock Reaction: Following the announcement, Groww shares traded marginally lower on the BSE at around Rs 192.70 to Rs 195.30 apiece.
The CAS Headwind on Derivatives
The primary sequential drag on Groww’s performance stemmed from its equity derivatives vertical, where revenue dropped 14.3% quarter-on-quarter. The share of equity derivatives in total income shrank by 12.2 percentage points year-on-year, declining from roughly 57% in the previous year to 45% during the quarter.
Management attributed the drop directly to the market-wide impact of the Closing Auction System (CAS) implemented in August 2026. Under CAS, cash-market continuous trading for eligible futures and options (F&O) stocks concludes at 3:15 PM, whereas equity derivatives trade through 3:40 PM. The resulting mismatch between underlying cash execution and derivatives trading complicated price discovery and risk hedging during the final 25 minutes of the session, curbing trader participation.
In a shareholder communication, Groww noted that this decline in derivatives activity was consistent with wider industry-level contraction following the transition.
Relief on Horizon: SEBI’s Consultation Paper
Despite the near-term headwind, management expressed optimism about a rebound in trading volumes, pointing to recent regulatory proposals by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)....

Jio Platforms Files RHP for Historic ₹30,000 Crore IPO Opening October 21 with ₹2,500 Crore Shareholder Quota
Category: Markets
Jio Platforms Limited, the digital and telecommunications subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has formally filed its Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) in Ahmedabad on October 14, 2026, marking the commencement of India's biggest primary market offering to date.
The initial public offering (IPO) is scheduled to open for public subscription on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and close on Friday, October 23, 2026. The anchor investor allocation will take place on Monday, October 19, 2026, while the equity shares are slated to debut on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on October 28, 2026.
Record-Breaking Issue Size and Valuation
The issue is expected to raise approximately ₹30,000 crore to ₹30,200 crore (around $3.8 billion), cementing its position as the largest IPO in Indian capital markets history. This surpasses the previous benchmark set by Hyundai Motor India's ₹27,870 crore ($2.9 billion) listing in October 2024.
The expected price band has been estimated between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per share, pegging Jio Platforms' equity valuation at up to ₹10.3 lakh crore (approximately $107 billion) at the upper end of the band.
Issue Structure and Special Quotas
Unlike many recent high-profile listings that leaned heavily on promoter exits, the Jio Platforms IPO is structured strictly as a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares, accounting for roughly 2.9% of the post-issue equity base. Existing institutional backers—including global technology leaders Meta and Google—are not tendering shares in the issue, and Reliance Industries will retain a 66.43% controlling stake following the transaction.
Key Allocation Tranches:
• Reliance Industries Shareholder Reservation: Up to ₹2,500 crore worth of equity shares has been reserved specifically for eligible RIL shareholders, providing existing parent-company investors with a direct allocation avenue.
• Employee Reservation: Up to ₹500 crore worth of shares has been set aside for eligible employees of the company.
• Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs): 50% of the net public offer is allocated to institutional investors.
• Retail Individual Investors (RIIs): 35% of the net public offer is reserved for retail applicants.
• Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs): The remaining 15% is reserved for high-net-worth individuals and corporate entities.
Strategic Utilization of Capital
The net proceeds from the primary issuance will be directed primarily toward prepaying and repaying outstanding borrowings of its core operating subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), along with funding general corporate purposes....

Sensex Slips 252 Points and Nifty Ends at 22,622 as WPI Surges to 11.39% and Brent Crosses $106
Category: Markets
Profit-booking snapped Dalal Street's rebound on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as a sharper-than-projected spike in wholesale inflation and unrelenting strength in global crude oil prices overshadowed Tuesday's sharp gains.
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 251.89 points, or 0.34%, to settle at 72,781.89 after swinging between an intraday high of 73,195.26 and a low of 72,578.75. The broader NSE Nifty 50 dropped 99.25 points, or 0.44%, to finish at 22,622.70. The slide halted momentum following Tuesday's four-month record surge, where the Sensex had leapt 1,109.10 points and the Nifty had climbed 358.60 points.
Double-Digit WPI Delivers Macro Shock
Data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed that India's Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation jumped to 11.39% year-on-year in September 2026, climbing steeply from 9.92% recorded in August. The acceleration was broad-based across all key index components:
• Fuel and Power: Annual inflation surged to 25.85% from 22.93% in August, propelled by a 40.02% jump in mineral oils and a 57.32% climb in crude petroleum and natural gas prices.
• Manufactured Products: Inflation hit a series high of 9.76%, up from 8.37% in August, reflecting higher input costs in basic metals, chemicals, and rubber products.
• Food Index: Wholesale food inflation accelerated to 8.66% in September compared to 7.05% in the previous month.
• Primary Articles: Rose to 8.67% from 7.76% in August.
The all-commodities WPI index climbed to 112.5 in September from 110.8 in August. This follows earlier data showing headline retail inflation (CPI) climbing to a 23-month high of 5.54%.
Geopolitical Pressures and Oil Vulnerability
Compounding the inflation print, international benchmark Brent crude traded around $106 to $107 per barrel amid supply disruptions stemming from conflicts in West Asia and transit choke points around the Strait of Hormuz. Because India imports upwards of 85% of its crude oil requirements, persistent triple-digit oil prices directly feed into domestic freight, manufacturing input costs, and the trade deficit.
The inflation reading also spurred a rise in domestic bond yields, prompting equity market participants to re-evaluate their expectations for the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) interest rate path. The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee had recently raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50%.
Sectoral Trends and Key Movers
The sell-off was concentrated heavily in interest rate-sensitive segments, private financial institutions, and capital-intensive sectors.

Banks Seek RBI Clarity on FCNR(B) Interest Hedges Under Expanded Forex Reserve Rules
Category: Markets
Indian commercial banks have reached out to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) seeking urgent clarity on whether foreign exchange derivatives deployed to hedge interest payments on Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank), or FCNR(B), deposits will be subject to the central bank's expanded Foreign Exchange Risk Reserve (FERR) framework.
The regulatory uncertainty follows the RBI’s October 12 directive, which extended the 20% cash reserve requirement to rupee-linked forex derivative contracts entered into by authorized dealers to hedge foreign currency risks arising directly from their own balance-sheet assets and liabilities.
The Scale of the FCNR(B) Exposure
Under the FERR mandate, lenders must lock up cash equivalent to 20% of the rupee value of qualifying derivative contracts with the RBI until the contract reaches termination. While the original weekend measures initially targeted corporate current-account derivative exposures above a $2 million threshold to suppress speculative dollar demand, Monday's subsequent circular brought bank-level balance-sheet hedging under the reserve ambit.
Treasury executives note that the magnitude of potential reserve requirements is substantial. Authorized dealers hold approximately $133 billion mobilized via FCNR(B) deposits. Assuming an average 6.5% interest rate across five-year tenures, the aggregate coupon outflow is estimated at nearly $40 billion. Because this interest outgo is not covered by central bank concessional swap facilities, banks typically hedge these foreign-currency obligations in the open market. If interest-payment hedging is not exempted, lenders will be compelled to lock away substantial liquidity to back those contracts.
Industry Concerns and Core Ambiguities
Through the Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association of India (FEDAI), lenders have flagged several operational bottlenecks and cost implications stemming from the expanded guidelines:
• Liquidity Blockage: Freezing 20% in non-interest-earning cash reserves at the central bank restricts funds that would otherwise be deployed in high-yielding credit or treasury instruments.
• Interest vs. Principal Disconnect: While past norms created room for principal repayments on foreign loans, banks require written confirmation on whether interest and coupon payment hedges for FCNR(B) deposits and external commercial borrowings (ECBs) are exempt or subject to FERR.
• Cost Benchmarking: Lenders are unclear on the mechanism to compute and recover the holding cost of maintaining the reserve, including whether calculations should tie into the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF), Marginal Cost of Funds-Based Lending Rate (MCLR), or External Benchmark-Linked Lending Rate (EBLR)....
