FPL Injury Updates - Part One
22/02/2021
🦊 Leicester - #Vardy sidelined: “Jamie will be out for a few weeks. We’ve been managing him over these number of months and he’s been fantastic but we have a window now that allows him to have an operation on his hernia."
We’ve played without Jamie before and won. It’s not overly concerning. It’s our best chance of getting him back. Ayoze #Perez is a natural striker. He doesn’t threaten the backline as quickly as Vardy, but he’s a great finisher. I‘ve got [#Iheanacho] who can offer a threat too."
Dennis #Praet (hamstring) could be sidelined for up to three months while Wes #Morgan will be out for a few weeks. #Mendy is fit
🍬 Everton - Ancelotti isn't concerned over James #Rodriguez playing games in quick succession following his recent injury problems. "He can play against Sheffield, against Leicester - he has no physical problem at this moment."
#Calvert-Lewin (hamstring) is available and in contention for this weekend. Jean-Philippe #Gbamin, #Allan, Fabian #Delph, Lucas #Digne, Alex #Iwobi and #Nkounkou are unavailable for Sunday's Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday.
Gbamin is assessed day-by-day while Iwobi and Digne will return against Leicester on Wednesday.
🌃 Man City - Impact injury for Kyle #Walker - won't feature in the FA Cup but he could be available next week. "Kevin [#De Bruyne], the doctor had to review the scan this morning, and he will be out between four and six weeks."
😈 Man United - Victor #Lindelof will be fine for Sunday. "It was just too quick a turnaround [midweek] we felt with the travel and with his back. I wanted to play Eric (#Bailly) anyway."
🔪 Sheffield United - Chris Wilder provides an injury update ahead of the FA Cup tie vs Plymouth. “Ben #Osborn and Oli #McBurnie not available. Jack #Rodwell has trained this week, hopefully he’ll be involved at the weekend, no one else will be back.”
Jack #O'Connell has suffered a "bit of a setback" in his recovery from knee surgery. Chris Wilder was hopeful of a return by mid-February. "We knew this might happen.’
⚪️ Spurs - A tendon problem has stopped #Alli from training and Mourinho confirms that was the reason behind his absence on Sunday. Matt #Doherty and Serge #Aurier are also doubts for the trip to Wycombe. Lo #Celso is a definite absentee.
⚫️⚪️ Newcastle United - Bruce: "The good news for everybody is that Saint-#Maximin is in the squad. He's trained well all week and his fitness levels are very good. We have to get the balance right and I wouldn't expect him to be starting but he'll be in the squad."
Bruce: "Federico #Fernández won't be available. Fabian #Schär might be. Ciaran #Clark is a doubt. Fernández has hamstring and muscle problems and is still going to be a while off. Dwight #Gayle has been unwell, but his COVID-19 tests were negative."
