πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“‰ Negative trends are prevailing in the US stock market's pre-market session.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is down 0.95%, while Micron Technology (MU) is down 5.24%.

In the Communication Services sector, Alphabet (GOOGL) is up 0.67%, while Meta Platforms (META) is down 1.16%.

In the Health Care sector, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is down 2.19%, while Eli Lilly (LLY) is up 0.23%.

The predominantly downward trend in large-cap stocks, particularly in the technology sector, points to a risk-off sentiment in the US market.

Against this backdrop, there may be a short-term increase in demand for safe-haven dollar-denominated assets, including US Treasuries, which is supporting the dollar and preventing it from weakening against other major currencies.

Bitcoin avoids volatility while BAT rallies

The crypto market has remained largely unaffected by volatility, trading within a range of just 0.7% over the past day, reaching $2.80T by the start of active trading in Europe, compared with $2.81T the previous day. It appears that cryptocurrency traders are adopting a wait-and-see approach, slow to capitalise on the dollar’s pullback from its highs and the strengthening of bond buying, which is a sign of a recovery in risk appetite. The urge to take profits in big tech stocks at the start of the new earnings season is weighing on cryptocurrencies, as evidenced by the Nasdaq-100’s decline over four of the last five days. Among altcoins, the ratio of rising to falling coins is 1:9. The top gainers were BAT (+4.7%), Bitcoin Cash (+1.2%) and Tron (+0.4%). Polkadot (βˆ’5.2%), Near Protocol (βˆ’4.5%) and Internet Computer (βˆ’4.3%) have fallen the most.

Bitcoin remains stagnant, hovering around $83.4K, and has avoided sharp drops or surges over the past 24 hours. The leading cryptocurrency has managed to stay above its 50-day moving average near $81K without much difficulty, but has so far been unable to break above $84K. For institutional investors, BTC is positioned near the Nasdaq-100 on the risk asset spectrum. The latter’s caution is preventing Bitcoin from spreading its wings. Perhaps everyone is simply waiting for the release of US inflation data.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“‰ Negative sentiment is prevailing in the US stock market's pre-market session: major technology and financial companies are mostly trading lower, indicating that investors are adopting a cautious approach to risk.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is down 1.04%, while Broadcom (AVGO) is down 1.22%.

In the Financials sector, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) is up 0.15%, while JPMorgan Chase (JPM) is down 0.98%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Tesla (TSLA) is down 0.93%, while McDonald's (MCD) is up 0.03%.

Risk aversion in major liquid securities is creating short-term demand for safe-haven dollar assets: the dollar is receiving moderate support from inflows into Treasuries and the money markets, which is preventing it from weakening even against the backdrop of external factors.
