πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ The US stock market is showing a moderately positive trend in pre-market trading, with key indices being buoyed by gains from major technology companies, despite isolated corrections in the consumer and energy sectors.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 0.71%, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is up 1.14%, while Microsoft (MSFT) is down 0.08%.

In the Communication Services sector, Meta Platforms (META) is up 1.08%.

In the Health Care sector, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is up 0.03%, while AbbVie (ABBV) is up 0.12%.

The dominance of gains among the largest technology companies points to a prevailing risk-on sentiment within the US market. Demand for the dollar as a safe-haven asset remains subdued, and the currency's performance is likely to be neutral in the near term.

▢️ Pro News Flash: Euro Under Pressure

πŸ’Ά The euro is under growing pressure, falling against the U.S. dollar for 11 of the last 14 days and dropping below 1.1350, a level not seen for more than 15 months. Renewed concerns over Europe’s debt and energy risks, combined with diverging Fed and ECB policies, are weighing on the currency.

πŸ“‰ Political risk is also rising as the yield spread between French and German bonds reaches its highest level since 2012. With another clash between France’s government and National Assembly expected, concerns are growing around the country’s €3.5 trillion debt burden and the potential impact on European markets.

🏦 The ECB is taking a cautious approach, while markets have reduced expectations for an October deposit rate hike. At the same time, the chances of a Fed rate hike in October have risen to 73%, widening the monetary policy gap and adding further pressure to the euro-dollar pair.

β›½ Energy risks are adding another layer of pressure. European gas storage is currently at 71%, well below the five-year average of 87%, reviving memories of the 2022 energy crisis when the euro fell below parity with the dollar. With the euro already weakening, the question is how much further it could fall.

Crypto heavyweights pull back as altcoins rotate

The crypto market's capitalisation has remained stable at around $2.86T for the third day in a row. The market continues to ignore the strengthening of the dollar and the rise in global government bond yields. It appears that current levels are not yet attractive to cryptocurrency investors, who are waiting for a better offer or at least signs that traditional markets are bottoming out. Still, it cannot be said that all cryptocurrencies have come to a standstill while waiting.

Over the past 24 hours, among the most liquid coins, there has been a slight trend towards profit-taking, with the sharpest declines seen in Hedera (βˆ’12.1%), Algorand (βˆ’7%) and IOTA (βˆ’6.5%), with the top performers being Sushiswap (+5.1%), NEAR Protocol (+5%) and Aave (+3.8%). Meanwhile, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, XRP and Solana are recording declines of around 1%. It appears the market is rotating between altcoins. Still, major cryptocurrencies are under pressure due to their close ties to traditional markets, where sentiment is more wait-and-see and cautious.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Pre-market trading trends on the US stock market

πŸ“ˆ Following the inflation figures, the US stock market is showing a moderately positive trend in pre-market trading.

In the Information Technology sector, NVIDIA (NVDA) is up 0.65%, Micron Technology (MU) is up 1.38%, while Microsoft (MSFT) is up 0.21%.

In the Communication Services sector, Alphabet (GOOGL) is up 1.35%.

In the Consumer Discretionary sector, Amazon (AMZN) is up 0.21%, while in the Consumer Staples sector, Walmart (WMT) is up 0.25%.

From a foreign exchange perspective, the current rise in the shares of the largest technology and retail companies reflects a risk-on sentiment: demand for safe-haven dollar assets is limited, and the dollar's performance remains largely neutral, with no clear momentum toward appreciation.
