Do we really need multi-year data for optimization? Let’s say it out loud: shorter intervals rock!
We tested our EASY Trading AI on real tick data starting from January 1, 2023. At first, we thought a massive data range would help catch every possible market pattern. But after multiple deep dives (especially in strategy testers/), it turned out that a 30–45-day slice of recent data works better for scalping bots.
Why so? For Martingale-based systems that place multiple trades concurrently, you want to see how they survive drawdowns in different timeframes. But scalping bots, armed with a single trade at a time and a strict SL level, thrive best on fresh data. A year’s worth of archives? Not always necessary. We even went through the “once-in-a-decade” market event on April 7 without major issues — a testament to our adaptive approach.
Still feeling experimental? We’re open to testing older data from 2021 or 2020. However, we found that focusing on the last 30–45 days keeps our strategy light, agile, and ready for real-world tick-by-tick action.
