Ethereum Looks For 1 Million Devs While Ether Price Surpasses USD 190

With the fifth annual Ethereum conference, Devcon, about to finish tomorrow, a new challenge has been issued: get 1 million developers to build on Ethereum in a year.

Devcon is an annual conference held by the Ethereum Foundation for developers, researchers, engineers and others to gather and discuss their thoughts and ideas, happening in Osaka, Japan this year, and these developers have been challenged by one of their own. Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum and founder of blockchain company ConsenSys, came up with a mission which, if completed, would get 1 million developers to build on this platform by Devcon 6.

"There are 30M+ devs worldwide. Let’s give them their ‘holy shit’ #blockchain moment, and jumpstart a more open & transparent Web 3.0," Lubin tweeted.

The website dedicated to the mission and the upcoming dapp (decentralized app) claims that there are more than 200,000 active Ethereum developers. Also, the site gives more details, stating that the developers across the planet are playing the part in this "radical change brought in by blockchain," and that Ethereum and ConsenSys mission is to bring as many of these developers to Ethereum “by providing an interactive and immersive space for newbies and veterans alike, to learn, collaborate, share, and build in a fun and easy manner.” While the dapp is “coming soon,” those who become part of this mission will be able to create decentralized developer profiles to share their own projects, join the community, and build their reputations, the website says.

The site also prominently displays the relevance of “an ‘a-ha’ moment” – in other words, the point of revelation when the Ethereum ecosystem participants “finally grasped the potential of Ethereum and dropped everything to participate in the Web3 movement.” To find this ‘a-ha’ moment, developers will be given an opportunity to earn rewards while participating in interactive “Adventures and Quest,” meant to showcase tools and concepts within the Ethereum ecosystem. Additionally, the idea is for these new developers to draw their colleagues to Ethereum and show them what it has to offer by creating their own interactive adventures or quests.

On their side, the team accepting the challenge came out with a project overview, giving itself two weeks to create this series of quest to get the users to this 'a-ha’ moment, with rewards and referrals features, the final goal being to “make the platform not only interesting for new Ethereum developers, but also for those already involved in the space - to keep them around - by creating a platform which allows them to connect and collaborate.”

To accomplish this, the Rapid team, a Research and Development team within ConsenSys, want to “push the limits of decentralized Authentication, Storage and Messaging” and use 3Box which offers a suite of decentralized identity tools that allow quick building of social applications, which the website uses as a content management system, they say.
Dash CEO Thinks That Dash’s Instasend and Chainlocks Can Solve Issue of Market Volatility

CEO of the Dash Core group, Ryan Taylor considers that instantaneous cryptocurrency confirmations, which are provided by Dash’s InstantSend and ChainLocks, can help in solving the diligent problem of market volatility. This was mentioned in a recent podcast of the Abra Money 3.0.

— Dash News (@DashpayNews) November 21, 2019

In his latest interview with Bill Barhydt, founder and CEO of Abra, Taylor explained the problem of market volatility, which influences Dash more fundamentally than Bitcoin. This is because of its small market capitalization, by saying that he accepts that transactions that are instantly confirmed can balance the problem of market volatility.

“The volatility issue is real. It’s even more real for a smaller cryptocurrency like Dash, which has about 25% higher volatility than Bitcoin does.”

Regardless of the noteworthy benefits that Dash offers in fighting market volatility through faster transactions, Taylor sees the exchanges did not solve the present issues. He said those issues could be solved by benefitting from Dash features.

Besides, Dash’s feature of Instasend functionality secures the transactions instantly, taking a normal time of under two seconds to finalize the payment successfully. This has been executed as a default for all the transactions carried out from April.

He additionally clarified that the kinds of payments that Dash encourages truly well are point-of-sale sort of transactions. Firstly, it is instant. Moreover, all transactions are locked inside one to two seconds and that makes it truly practical at a point-of-sale. Further, it is not expensive and the user can get the combination of low cost and speed.

Additionally, in July, Dash also activated ChainLocks, securing the blocks as permanent instantly. These two functionalities increase the trustworthiness and security of Dash transactions immediately, and after the first confirmation in the block.

Ryan said they have launched a new technology called ChainLocks that prevents 51 percent attacks. Within around four to six seconds of another block being published, the whole block cannot be turned back. The blend of the two enables them to do what is called Chained Instant Sends.

Moreover, they have already counteracted the technical hurdles; regardless, Taylor sees the benefits of instant confirmations in fighting volatility as appealing enough and expects exchanges to honor Instasend.

He said,

“We have to go out and educate them on how to accept these, how to recognize the InstantSend locks and so on, and recognize the benefits to them. Exchanges that honor InstantSend, it’s probably obvious, see higher volumes. They see higher trading volumes.”
