In Mauritania, slavery still exists even though it is illegal. Many people are born into slavery and cannot leave. They work without pay and face harsh treatment. Activists and groups are trying to stop slavery and rescue those who are already trapped or even born as slaves. As far as known, only one slave "owner" has been sentenced, to 6 months in jail.

Axolotls can regenerate entire limbs, parts of their heart, and even parts of their brain. They stay in their larval form their whole lives, keeping their feathery external gills that fan water to breathe, which gives them a permanently โ€œsmilingโ€ and cute appearance. They are usually pink, white, or gray, and have tiny, lidless eyes that make them look like little underwater aliens. Axolotls are gentle, slow-moving, and mostly eat small fish, worms, and insects.

Less fun part: Their extreme regenerative abilities make them a favorite for scientific research.

Fun part:
Their unusual appearance makes them one of the most beloved amphibians in the world.

Feel free to post Axolotl memes, pictures etc in the comments!

AI data centers use millions of liters of water each day to stay cool. Servers get very hot while running complex computations. Many centers use water-based cooling like evaporative or liquid cooling. Water is also used to make electricity and computer chips. In some areas, this can put serious pressure on local water supplies.

Anthony Smith, a 4-year-old boy with hearing loss, didnโ€™t want to wear his hearing aid. Marvel Comics made a new superhero called "The Blue Ear" based on him. This helped Anthony feel proud to wear his device. The superhero is a young kid who can grow up with famous heroes like Hawkeye and The Avengers.

Opossums do not consciously play dead. They enter a behavior called thanatosis when threatened. It is an involuntary response to extreme stress. During thanatosis, opossums become limp, slow their breathing, and remain motionless. Their eyes may stay open, and they can release a foul smell. This state can last from a few minutes to several hours. Opossums cannot end thanatosis at will. It is triggered automatically by fear or danger from predators. Scientists describe it as a defensive survival behavior. It is not fainting although it looks a bit similar.

Many lipsticks and cosmetics use โ€œpearl essence,โ€ a shiny ingredient made from fish scales. The shine comes from guanine crystals found in herring scales. Synthetic versions exist, but natural pearl essence is still commonly used in cosmetics.

The Little Albert experiment was a psychology study conducted in 1920 by John B. Watson and Rosalie Rayner at Johns Hopkins University. The study involved an infant known as โ€œLittle Albert,โ€ whose real identity has not been confirmed, although some guesses have been made. The research focused on conditioned fear responses, where a child was exposed to a white rat and a loud noise to study learned fear.

The video may be shocking to some viewers, but as it is factual history we added it. View at your own discretion.

The Titanic Memorial in Washington, D.C., honors the men who gave up lifeboats for women and children during the 1912 sinking. Of the 531 women and children on board, 70% were rescued, compared to only 20% of the men. Women led the fundraising and design efforts. The memorial was unveiled in 1931 and moved in 1968 to its current location near Fort McNair.

Many people feel tired and miserable on Mondays because their sleep schedule often changes on the weekend.

This change is called social jet lag. It affects the bodyโ€™s internal clock, known as the circadian rhythm, which regulates sleep and alertness. Hormones like cortisol and melatonin control when the body feels awake or sleepy. On weekends, sleep and wake times often differ from weekdays, which shifts these rhythms and affects how people feel at the start of the week.
