In 2014, the Ice Bucket Challenge became one of the internet's biggest viral events.

People filmed themselves having buckets of ice water poured over their heads, challenged others to do the same, and encouraged donations to ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig's disease) research.

Between 29 July and 29 August 2014, the ALS Association received more than $100 million in donations.
