Tanks to Gaddius for the kind words. It's not a pleasant thing to be right about, the current dystopia.

Lost Highway is one of the highest peaks of David Lynch’s filmography, in terms of cinematography, atmosphere, and soundtrack.
The film’s conception of time—perhaps a Möbius strip—has something in common with Nietzsche’s cyclical time, Giorgio Locchi’s spherical time, or the Buddhist saṃsāra. But more than anything else, it seems like a psychological maelstrom in which every character has a double—even the detectives—as in a Jungian interpretation of dreams.
The theme of the double and the Doppelgänger, also typical, for instance, of Borges’s fiction, finds here one of its highest forms of expression.
And what about the Mystery Man, who never seems to blink? He could be a symbol of the male unconscious, which does not need to enter the house because it has always been part of it. This is why he is able to “film” what is hidden inside without having to physically “enter” it.
In any case, the ending deserves applause: the end is also a new beginning.

Guido Taietti is an underappreciated figure in our spheres, probably because most of his work is in Italian. His nuance here on literacy in the modern era is excellent. We're not becoming an illiterate society, but a "post literate" one. In 20 years, as Guido states, most people will be "capable of reading an email or a message, yet increasingly less capable of using reading and writing as tools to organize thought and understand the world."

A reader comments on Kalergistan:
———-
Hi Frodi,
It's just occurred to me that there hasn't been a Kalergistan stream for a few weeks. I hope for one soon.
I know you don't get as much feedback as you'd like, so I thought I'd give some.
The dissident right is awash with streams where a content creator has a conversation with a guest. These are often very interesting, but tend to leave you with a feeling of "Oh well, so much for that." The stream wraps up and that's that. Kalergistan, by contrast, offers a continuous and evolving perspective on the various unsettling developments unfolding throughout the world. It succeeds in providing dogma-free commentary rather than 'takes', while maintaining an avowed identitarian position - quite a balancing act in today's febrile atmosphere.
You regularly introduce subjects which would never have occurred to me as being important, but which I now see are, for example some of the recent discussions on AI and 'third-worldisation' of the internet. I can't think of anyone else who's doing this right now.
On a personal level, in these rather hopeless times, it's good for the soul to hear two reasonable and highly intelligent blokes keeping the lights on for free inquiry and informed debate, with no drama, ambiguity or weirdness of any kind.
Please don't give up!
Cheers

This is increasingly the mantra of Western Civilization:
"The most important thing is not the colour of the skin of the person living next to you, but how much you earn and keep."

This [video] pretty much fits with my own comments about Trump and the Russo-Ukrainian war. There is a lot of cope about Ru having dirt on Trump (suggesting he doesn't "actually" support Ru) or various psychological explanations regarding Trump personally (partly true but less important).
The main point is that this is no "mistake" and no "4D chess" move. The Trump gov is not trying to "trick" anyone. Trump genuinely wants to be like Putin -- he wants to rule the US like Putin rules Russia. He is a Roosevelt to Putin's Stalin. They are both anti-European. Trump has grandiose plans for the US just like Putin has grandiose plans for Russia, so they understand each other. And Trump mostly sees the war in Ukraine as an annoying issue that he just wants to see go away -- so it is easier and quicker to put pressure on the weaker party and get it over with.
That is not to say Trump completely "supports" Russia either. 1. He still sees them as a rival power (frenemies), although he sees them as less of a problem than Europe (he dislikes Europe far more). 2. He still has to navigate political realities in the US, so he can't directly support a Russian war against Europe, Roosevelt style (yet). Even in the deracinated MAGA movement, that would probably still be controversial (but we'll see after a couple more years of slopaganda and rubots).
So we get this stupid dance back and forth with no clear direction...

Rán has struck me hard;
I am stripped of loved ones.
The sea has broken
the bonds of my family.
Yet the Friend of Mímir (Óðinn)
gave me an unblemished art:
a gift without fault—poetry—
by which I can speak my pain.

As usual, the Russian newspapers have more intelligent comments on these issues than their Western counterparts. They understand what Trump is doing. Worth 10 min of your time.

The latest tirade from Sergey Karaganov, honorary chairman of Russia’s Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, ideologue of the "Global Majority" against the West:
"Europe has been the main source of evil in the world for many centuries: endless wars, including two world wars in one generation, serial genocides, colonialism, racism, and other ills....
We need to firmly tell ourselves – we are not Europeans, but an independent Eurasian northern civilization... We would never be great Russia ... if not for the Mongolian political and ideological heritage
In military doctrine – a clear indication and in case of emergency readiness to launch nuclear strikes on key European countries that are fanning anti-Russian hysteria, simultaneously supporting the war in Ukraine."
This is the Russian propaganda that goes out to their own citizens.
We've previously heard from Karaganov HERE - HERE - and HERE.
