We are thrilled to share that Mr. Dassa Bulcha, Managing Partner of Guma Law Firm, has successfully facilitated a comprehensive two-day training workshop on continuous criminal trials in Ethiopia, November 2-3, 2024, with the participation of judges from federal and regional courts. The Federal Supreme Court organized the training with financial support from the European Union. The primary goals of the training were to improve practitioners' understanding and skills in continuous criminal proceedings in order to improve the criminal justice system's efficiency and effectiveness.
The training workshop covered essential concepts and the significance of continuous criminal trials. The training also explored international experiences in various legal systems and the practices in Ethiopia, providing participants the opportunity to share experiences and learn lessons from one another. Moreover, it identified the country's current gaps and challenges as well as the impacts of discontinuous criminal trials on the criminal justice system and proposed a set of future actions to address the gaps and challenges.
Mr. Dassa has extensive experience in the criminal justice system in different countries, which enabled him to bring his unique perspective to the training workshop.
