Map of fissures 5 and 6 that have been very active spreading out last night and into early this morning.
The activity at the bottom of Kahukai rages on. It's mind-boggling how different the landscape looks here. I believe this is fissure 15 on the left hand side and either 19 or 22 on the right hand side.

Thursday Morning Update May 24

No further advancement of lava into Puna Geothermal
The situation remains stable, lava has not encroached further onto PGV property.

A new lava flow made it to the ocean last night. Appears to be a few hundred yards to the west, or away from Pohoiki.

Fountains from Fissures 5, 6, 13, and 19 continue to feed a lava flow moving to the south along the west side of Fissure 22 flows that reached the ocean late this afternoon. There are now two ocean entry points.

There was more activity inside of Leilani Estates last night around Fissure 21 (Hookupu). Also fissure 8, Luana reactivated as well as possibly fissure 9 which is Kupono. Will have to see this morning to confirm which fissures were active via pictures etc.

Cell service has been disrupted for many in the Puna area. An AT&T tower went down. Representative said it should be back up by 10 pm tonight.

Will continue to provide updates as the day progresses.

Hope you all are doing well. Aloha
