💀 $571M in longs wiped out: Senate kills Clarity Act, ETFs bleed $450M

The Senate's 49-50 cloture vote on the Clarity Act just cost crypto bulls $571 million in liquidated longs over 24 hours — the biggest wipeout since Aug. 22, per CoinGlass. Bitcoin and ether traders ate roughly $190 million each. XRP got gutted 10% to $1.30, BTC slid to $75,700, and US spot bitcoin ETFs dumped $450.4 million in a single day, their worst outflow since June 24.

▪️ Cloture needed 60 votes, got 49-50 with multiple Republicans voting no — 11 short, 600+ pages of compromise text dead on the floor.
▪️ Killer clause: ethics language barring officials from crypto business. Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) called it 'too thin,' pointing at Trump and his Cabinet.
▪️ Bulls front-ran it: BTC ran from ~$77,000 Monday to nearly $80,000 on reports Trump would concede on ethics. Dems held the line and the unwind started 24h early.
▪️ Shorts barely got touched: only ~$100M liquidated versus $571M of longs. XRP longs -$30M, SOL longs -$22M. Everybody was positioned the same way.
▪️ 13 US spot funds bled $450.4M Tuesday after +$159.9M Monday: Fidelity FBTC -$214.8M, BlackRock IBIT -$161.7M, GBTC -$44.1M, ARKB -$17.4M, BITB -$12.4M.
▪️ Equities bled harder: Coinbase -9% to $174.42, Circle -9% to $88.26, Galaxy -8%, Gemini -7%. ETH -5% to $2,410, SOL -5% to ~$97; BNB and TRX only -1%.

📊 Biggest prior ETF outflow day: $469M (June 24)
📊 Long wipeout ranking: Worst since Aug. 22

Regulatory momentum just moved entirely to the executive branch, the CFTC and the SEC — the SEC's Reg Crypto framework and tokenized-securities rules are now the only route to the certainty the industry was begging Congress for. The Fed decides on rates Wednesday with traders leaning toward a quarter-point hike, landing on a market that already watched its legislative bid die. Fairshake and the other PACs have to decide how to treat the no-vote senators before the Nov. 3 election, and a new Congress convenes in January 2027. Your longs are now exposed to a calendar nobody in this trade controls.

💬 «Today, I voted no on the Clarity Act, legislation meant to regulate cryptocurrency in America. The ethics provisions in this bill are simply too thin.» — Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.)

🔮 Bulls front-ran a vote they never had the numbers for. That's not bad luck, that's a positioning error.

🐋 Whale dumps 866 BTC for 26,924 ETH hours before the $289M liquidation cascade

Wallet 0x4553 flipped 866 bitcoin into 26,924 ether — $64.57 million — on Sept. 15, roughly three hours before the Senate blocked the CLARITY Act and bitcoin slid under $75,000. Lookonchain flagged the trade and the accounting was suspiciously clean: 512 WBTC at $38.64 million plus 354 cbBTC at $26.73 million out, ether in at about $2,430 a coin.

▪️ Swap hit in the late-morning U.S. session on Sept. 15 — three hours before the cloture vote that needed 60 and got 49. Zero Democrats voted to proceed.
▪️ EmberCN logged the same trade independently at $2,430 an ether; Lookonchain flagged the wallet as 0x4553.
▪️ Bitcoin broke below $75,000 for the first time since Aug. 20. In the hour around the vote, $289 million in leverage got smoked — 91% of it longs.
▪️ 24-hour body count: $771.82 million liquidated across more than 120,000 traders.
▪️ ETF desks went the other way: BTC ETFs shed $450.4M — Fidelity's FBTC -$214.8M, BlackRock's IBIT -$161.7M — ether ETFs lost $142.3M.
▪️ He wasn't alone: a $2.7 billion whale sell-off fed the same ether bid, and a mystery seller dumped 167,855 ETH worth $408 million into exchanges this month.

📊 ETH/BTC now: 0.0317
📊 Next resistance: 0.03213
📊 Barrier above it: 0.03426
📊 ETH vs BTC since June low: +32%

Read the trade, not the headline: this wasn't a guy fleeing crypto, it was a guy fleeing bitcoin into ether — and the ETF flows say the desks did the opposite. ETH/BTC has climbed over 32% off June's 0.02525 low and is pressed under 0.03213, the 0.382 fib of the drop from 0.04327; clear it and a decade-long downtrend is genuinely over, fail and 0x4553 was just lucky. And the CLARITY collapse changed jack: the SEC and CFTC already treat both assets as digital commodities under their March joint interpretation. If you're long BTC on leverage, the weekly close is your tripwire.

💀 Revolut hackers want $3M in Monero or your data goes on sale

A hacking crew calling itself "iamnotavillain" gave Revolut 24 hours to cough up $3 million in Monero (6,000 XMR) or they'll flog stolen customer data to other criminal groups. At least 680 accounts are affected, and the bastards specifically hunted for users with fat crypto bags.

▪️ The attackers didn't brute-force shit — they posed as government officials and sent info requests that sailed right through Revolut's checks.
▪️ Targets were picked using blockchain analysis to find Revolut accounts with significant crypto holdings — meaning if you were stacking sats on there, you were on the menu.
▪️ The stolen data includes passports, driving licences, KYC selfies and transaction histories. The hackers sent the FT a 60-second screen recording as proof.
▪️ Revolut says it blocked the address used in the requests and notified law enforcement and regulators. Customer funds were untouched, but identity docs? That's a different story.
▪️ No negotiations have happened so far, according to the hackers. The countdown clock is ticking.

📊 Ransom: $3M in XMR
📊 XMR demanded: 6,000
📊 Affected accounts: 680+

If you're holding serious crypto on Revolut, your passport and transaction history might already be in some scumbag's Telegram folder. The bank says funds are safe — cool, but identity theft doesn't care about your balance. Watch for phishing attempts using your actual KYC data; these guys aren't amateurs.

🔮 Revolut's 'sophisticated checks' let fake government requests through. Your KYC is only as safe as the intern who approves it.

Neutral tape, and a whale front-running the Senate

BTC $76,502 (+1.00%), ETH $2,443 (+1.87%) — a flat-ass tape where the real money moved underneath. Fear & Greed is 50, dead neutral, one tick off yesterday's 51. Somebody out there knew something, and it wasn't you.

▪️ SYN +62.7% on $55M is today's lottery ticket. ZEC +18.6% on $648M is the one with real size behind it. NEAR +13.9%, MARSCOIN +16.8%, DASH +13.9% — rotation, not trend.
▪️ Downside is a snooze: LSK -13.0% on $94M, CRCLB -3.1%, HOLO -2.8%, PAXG -0.6%. No cascade, no liquidation porn — just bags changing hands.
▪️ Wallet 0x4553 swapped 866 BTC for 26,924 ETH hours before the Senate blocked the CLARITY Act and BTC slipped under $75,000.
▪️ Lookonchain flagged the trade, noting 512 BTC was swapped with unusually clean accounting. Front-running a vote you can't see is either skill or a phone call.
▪️ Revolut hackers want $3M in Monero inside 24 hours or they dump customer data — and they went straight for users holding big crypto. No payment, no sale confirmed.
▪️ Orlen bought discounted Venezuelan crude with tether, lost $230M of it, and it's now Poland's biggest corporate scandal — the trail ends on USB drives.

Fear & Greed at 50 means nobody's scared, which is exactly when the tape hands you the bill. Neutral doesn't protect you from a Senate vote, a 24-hour ransom clock or a state energy giant losing nine figures on a memory stick. Watch Revolut: that data gets bought or it gets sold.

🔮 Lucky, or reading the room? That's the whole game, and you're not in the room.

💬 «Disgrace in front of the entire world» — Donald Tusk, премьер-министр Польши

🔮 $230M ушли через флешки? Серьёзно? Это не хакеры — это менеджеры года. Кто следующий потеряет миллионы на «надёжном» стейбле?

☕️ BTC tags $77K, Fed hikes, and Robinhood's own chain token does -90%

BTC sits at $77,500, up 1.37%, after tagging $77K on the Fed's first rate hike since 2023 — unanimous, 25 basis points, and the market ate it anyway. ETH at $2,485.47, up 1.81%, and the whole board is green.

▪️ ONE +44.2% on $38M volume, AVA +34.8% on $25M, COTI +27.6% on $23M — pocket-change pumps. One whale sneezes and you're the bag holder.
▪️ NEAR +30.8% on $305M and UNI +25.4% on $155M — real money behind these two. That's where the continuation trade actually lives.
▪️ Losers board is empty theatre: LSK -4%, stables flat at 0.00%. Nobody sold a thing, everything just got bid.
▪️ Fed hiked 25bp, first since 2023 — BTC tagged $77K, then $260M in liquidations ripped longs and shorts alike.
▪️ Robinhood told users it doesn't endorse tokens on its own chain; $WALLET went -90% right after. Their chain, their rules, your loss.
▪️ BTC is holding a $1.54T market cap and the whole board is waiting on the Fed's next move — that's the only catalyst that matters this week.

Fear & Greed printed 56 — Greed, up from 50 yesterday. Translation: retail is getting comfy right as alts pump on $25M of volume, and the Fed just told you it isn't done hiking. Greed at 56 into a hiking cycle is exactly how the bag gets handed to you before lunch. Watch NEAR and UNI for follow-through, treat ONE and COTI as exit liquidity, and remember Robinhood's disclaimer applies to your whole portfolio, not just its chain.

🔮 Robinhood disclaiming its own chain's token 90% down is the most honest thing a broker has ever done.

🚨 500M XRP walked out of Uphold in 16 minutes — into five brand-new wallets

Sept. 17, the wallet trackers label Uphold (12) fired off five payments of exactly 100 million XRP in 16 minutes — half a billion coins, about $649 million, into five XRP Ledger addresses that didn't exist that morning. Uphold's own wallet had activated all five hours earlier and seeded them with pocket change before the big bags landed. As of 05:30 UTC on Sept. 18, not one of them had sent a single payment. All 500 million still sitting there.

▪️ Uphold (12) seeded each fresh address with a stepped 60–100 XRP, then fired the 100M — a batch script working down a list, not five separate decisions
▪️ All five trace back to Uphold (12): on XRP Ledger an address only exists once somebody funds it, and Uphold (12) was itself activated by Uphold (11) in June 2025
▪️ Balance before the five transfers: roughly 1.47 billion XRP. Round two of the week — Sept. 14, a 145,634,500 XRP ($206M) stack left Uphold (4) for an address seeded with 5 XRP and tested with 50
▪️ Sept. 14's receiver then sat idle for four months. This week's five were created and filled inside six hours — different tempo, same hand
▪️ Not one order book touched: pure wallet-to-wallet, nothing sold, nothing bought, XRP didn't flinch
▪️ The only other traffic into the five: a 0.00001 XRP dust ping from an address that sprayed 109 wallets in under two hours — spam bot, not a buyer

📊 XRP price during the moves: $1.29–$1.32
📊 BTC at the same time: ~$76,600
📊 Uphold (12) balance after: ~962.9M XRP
📊 Dust ping each wallet got: 0.00001 XRP

Cold-storage reshuffle or a whale heading for the exit — the ledger alone can't tell you which, and that's the whole point. If it's a client exit, 500M XRP behind five brand-new keys is one signature away from being a market event. If it's Uphold, they just capped how much sits behind any single set of keys. Fed hiked a quarter point a day earlier, first hike since Q3 2023, and XRP shrugged it off. Watch those five addresses: the first transfer out writes the confession.

💀 Radix sat on a 3-year-old bug, lost $1.3M and froze the chain for 10 days

Radix Foundation admitted Sept. 17 that a June 2023 code cleanup in the Radix Engine planted a vault bug, an attacker cashed it out on Aug. 31, and validators had to freeze the whole chain for over 10 days to stop it. Total take: about $1.3 million across 26 transactions in 55 minutes. And the flaw could have hit any vault on the network — not just the bridged stuff that got drained.

▪️ 26 transactions in 55 minutes on Aug. 31: 458,915 USDC + 72,420 USDT ($531,335), 61.08 ETH, 6.35 WBTC, 536.16 SOL, 32.91 BNB — about $1.26M.
▪️ Mechanism: the 2023 refactor broke vault reference handling. A tx could name someone else's vault by internal address and pass it to custom contract code.
▪️ The engine then ran ordinary withdraw functions without enforcing the ownership boundary. No keys, no signatures — user accounts, apps and LPs were fair game.
▪️ Assets crossed Hyperlane to Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana, sold for ETH. Drained LP pairs then distorted prices, letting another account pull millions of XRD.
▪️ Zellic audited the protocol in 2024, engine kernel included. The flaw survived the review and three years of mainnet before anyone noticed.
▪️ Validators pulled enough stake offline to break consensus and halt the chain 10+ days. Fix deployed, user transactions resumed Sept. 11.

For you this wasn't a bridge hack or a leaked key — the execution layer itself stopped checking who owns what, so every vault on Radix was exposed, including tokens with zero bridge exposure. Zellic's 2024 audit missed it, which means 'audited' stays a vibe, not a guarantee. Radix is adding regression tests, tightening review of authorization changes and formalizing the emergency halt it used to kill liveness, and says AI-assisted code analysis may have helped the attacker find a three-year-old defect. Confidence in the engine is the real collateral here.

🔮 Three years, one audit, zero detection — and 10 days of downtime to patch what a 'cleanup' broke. Who audits the audits?

🏦 HK Banker Jailed 4 Years for $1.6B Fake Credit, $470K Crypto Bribes

Lam Chun-yin, 32, a former customer relationship manager at China Construction Bank (Asia), just got four years in the slammer for authenticating over $1.6 billion in fake letters of credit and pocketing $470,000 in crypto bribes. Judge Ernest Lin Kam-hung said even first-timers need deterrent sentences — because this shit undermined Hong Kong's whole financial hub rep.

▪️ Lam pleaded guilty in District Court to cooking up false letters of credit worth more than $1.6 billion — basically fake guarantees that grease international trade deals.
▪️ His cut? Over $470,000 in cryptocurrency bribes, which he now has to pay back as restitution. That's the price of playing both sides.
▪️ The judge didn't buy the rookie card: four years behind bars, because banking and insurance are the backbone of HK's economy and Lam's scheme put that standing at risk.
▪️ ICAC ain't done — they've already got arrest warrants out for other players in this mess. The net's still widening.
▪️ This comes as Hong Kong's Monetary Authority is pushing a quantum-computing threat framework for banks, aiming for full sector readiness by 2030.

📊 False letters of credit: $1.6B
📊 Crypto bribes received: $470K
📊 Prison sentence: 4 years
📊 Age of defendant: 32

For retail traders, this is a reminder that dirty money flows through both TradFi and crypto — and when it blows up, the exit doors get locked fast. If you're holding bags tied to HK banking or crypto rails, expect more ICAC headlines and maybe some skittish capital pulling out. The game's rigged, but at least sometimes the house gets raided.

💬 «Deterrent sentences are necessary even for first-time offenders, especially in light of the grave nature of the crime and its impact on society.» — Judge Ernest Lin Kam-hung

🐋 BIT (ex-Matrixport) just dumped 2,400 BTC on Binance — right under resistance

A wallet tied to BIT — the Singapore desk formerly known as Matrixport, founded by ex-Bitmain execs and managing $6B+ — shoved another 1,000 BTC worth $81.06 million into Binance on Saturday. Four days, 2,400 BTC in total, every coin landing with Bitcoin stuck near $81,000 and a wall at $81,700–$83,000 overhead. Lookonchain flagged the deposit; the address starts with bc1qsz and its Arkham page is public.

▪️ Sept 15 was the warm-up: the same desk dropped 1,400 BTC ($107.8M) on Binance and pulled 10,000 ETH ($24.67M) off it the same day — BTC in, ETH out, one clean rotation.
▪️ They've run this drill before: in December two Matrixport-linked wallets sent 4,000 BTC (~$347.56M) to Binance while BTC was still fighting to take back $90,000.
▪️ Binance now sits on more than 693,000 BTC — a two-year high in reserves, and every new deposit is one click away from the order book.
▪️ Shit timing for bulls: Sept 15 the CLARITY Act stalled in the U.S. Senate, Sept 16 the Fed hiked 25bp, and the BoJ hiked the day after that.
▪️ BTC ripped from the mid-$76Ks to an $81,238 intraday high and wiped ~$183M of shorts in a single hour — the 365-day moving average is parked right at $81,700.
▪️ The other side of the flow: U.S. spot ETFs took in $433M on Sept 18 — Fidelity's FBTC $311M, BlackRock's IBIT $108M — more than double both BIT transfers combined.

📊 Deposit, Sept 19: 1,000 BTC ($81.06M)
📊 Four-day total: 2,400 BTC
📊 Deposit, Sept 15: 1,400 BTC ($107.8M)
📊 ETH pulled off Binance: 10,000 ETH ($24.67M)

An $81M block sitting on the biggest exchange is a loaded gun aimed at $81,700 — break it and the squeeze keeps running, reject it and you're the exit liquidity. BIT has form: it has dumped size into Binance before and never explained a word of it. ETFs are still absorbing more than BIT is dumping, which is the only thing keeping this from being a one-way ride down. And if you're trading this blind, don't — the wallet is public, watch bc1qsz and not the timeline.

🔮 BIT dumped 2,400 BTC into Binance and explained nothing. Hedging before a US listing, or are you the exit? Watch bc1qsz.

🐋 2011 wallet wakes up, turns a $324 bag into $8M in one sweep

A wallet born on Nov. 2, 2011 just swept out its entire 100 BTC — over $8 million — while bitcoin sat near $82,000. Ten blocks earlier a second cluster of ancient coins moved another 100 BTC. Combined: 200 BTC, $16 million, all on one Saturday, all of it older than most of the people trading it.

▪️ Paid $3.24 per coin on Nov. 2, 2011 — $324 for all 100 — then used the send-everything option: one P2PKH sweep into a brand new P2WPKH wallet.
▪️ Arkham and every major explorer draw a blank on that receiving wallet. No link to an OTC desk or a CEX. Blockchair gives it a privacy score of 55/100 — sweeps always look tidy.
▪️ Ten blocks earlier, at block 967722, four legacy P2PKH addresses each moved 25 BTC — all born Feb-Mar 2013, when BTC ran from $32 on Mar 1 to $91.95 on Mar 31 as Cyprus banks blew up.
▪️ Those four consolidated into a single P2WPKH wallet Arkham flags as a known Bitgo address, one that has swallowed 100 BTC batches before. Privacy score around 60.
▪️ Onchain heuristics say that entity is a miner: its first Bitgo transfers were 25 BTC batches of March 2013 block rewards, and it has been feeding Bitgo like that since August 2025.

📊 Block of the 2011 sweep: 967732
📊 Nov 2011 entry price: $3.24
📊 2011 unrealized gain: 2,469,035%
📊 2013 miner cost basis: ~$3,200

The 2013 miner isn't panicking — it has been drip-feeding Bitgo since August 2025, and Bitgo is a custodian, so those coins may be parked, not dumped. The 2011 holder is the wildcard: he moved into a wallet nobody can name, which puts an OTC desk or an exchange one hop away, or means nothing happens at all. A September stuffed with waking sleepers plus BTC above $81,000 is exactly how tops get assembled — old hands getting their exit liquidity lined up while you're watching charts.

🔮 Cost basis $324, BTC at $82K: neither guy gives a shit what you paid. The question is whether 100 BTC in an untraceable wallet is headed for a bid.

🎣 Fake job interview, real drain: NK crew looted 7,000 wallets

North Korea's Waterplum crew turned fake tech job interviews into a harvesting machine: 30,000+ machines infected across 100+ countries and $10.71 million in crypto funneled into Pyongyang-controlled wallets between late 2025 and July 2026. The bait was a coding test. The payload was a backdoor. And the money, per the agencies, goes to the weapons program.

▪️ The setup: 'recruiters' from legit-sounding AI, blockchain and tech staffing firms DM developers, web designers and crypto specialists on job platforms and social media.
▪️ The hook: during the fake technical interview or coding assessment you're told to download test software or a video-call troubleshooting tool to proceed.
▪️ Run it and you're owned — backdoor trojans plus infostealers, no exotic zero-day, just you double-clicking their file on your own machine.
▪️ What they take: ID and passport scans plus crypto private keys. That's why it's wallets getting emptied, not just laptops getting bricked.
▪️ Domestic enablers faked location verification so North Korean IT workers landed real remote jobs at Japanese and US firms — those workers alone moved hundreds of millions of yen in crypto abroad.
▪️ Japanese police did a first: seized and dismantled a local laptop farm that let the operatives work from local IP addresses instead of Pyongyang's.

This isn't abstract for you: 7,000 drained wallets means coins that already moved on-chain and got laundered into the same liquidity you trade against. The agencies' fix is boring and free — never execute unvetted code outside an isolated sandbox, and use workspace restriction controls before opening a random repo. And if a 'recruiter' asks you to install anything before the interview, that's not hiring, that's payload delivery.

🔮 They didn't crack your wallet. You installed the malware yourself because you wanted the gig. That's the whole game.

💀 Fake USDT, zero value: Venezuelan shops are getting paid in air

Scammers in Venezuela are buying real goods with fake money — cloned USDT tokens that display as USDT in a self-custody wallet and are worth exactly nothing. The merchant sees a completed payment, hands over the goods, and the scammer walks out with inventory nobody ever paid for. Juan Kassabji, a local tech guy tracking the scheme, knows of one merchant who ate over $5,500 in fake tokens in a single dealing.

▪️ The token is a straight clone: it's named USDT and shows up that way in the wallet, but its contract address is not the one Tether issued.
▪️ At checkout the buyer steers the merchant onto an external self-custody wallet — the one place where nothing on the screen verifies the contract for you.
▪️ Payment lands, ticker looks right, the trade reads as settled, the merchant hands over the goods and the scammer is gone.
▪️ Some wallets flag cloned tokens, but it isn't standard — whether you ever see a warning depends on which wallet you happen to run.
▪️ Same fake tokens have already been used to stiff people in P2P exchanges, per Kassabji. Physical stores are just the newest venue.

📊 Value actually transferred per 'payment': $0

If you take stablecoins into a self-custody wallet, you are the compliance department now — and the wallet isn't doing the job for you. Kassabji's fix is boring and it works: check that the contract address matches Tether's official one, or take the payment through Binance, which only credits valid USDT into balances. After every payment, glance at the dollar balance — fake money reads as zero. That extra five seconds is cheaper than a whole shipment of goods that walked out the door.

🔮 USDT is basically Venezuela's cash register now. 'Payment received' on your screen was never the same thing as money — this scam just said it out loud.

🩸 Liquid bled ~4,000 BTC without anyone stealing private keys

On Sept 6 roughly 4,000 Bitcoin walked out of Liquid’s shared reserve because the network itself approved a withdrawal that should never have qualified — no phished seed phrase involved.

BTC parks at $81.6K while alts rip — and 4,000 BTC ghosted Liquid's reserve

BTC $81,631 (+1.36%), ETH $2,670.93 (+3.60%) — green drift, zero conviction, alts doing the actual running. Meanwhile Liquid's shared BTC reserve got drained of roughly 4,000 BTC, and not a single private key was stolen to do it.

▪️ Movers: NEAR +26% on $379M volume, SAGA +23.8%, AVAX +19.4% on $146M, SUI +14.9% on $145M, PUMP +11.9%. Alts running while BTC naps.
▪️ Losers: G -49.4% on $50M turnover, ONE -16.6% on $48M. A coin halving on that volume means someone with size already left.
▪️ Liquid, Sept 6: a software flaw let attackers mint unbacked L-BTC and cash it out against the shared reserve. ~4,000 BTC gone.
▪️ TRM Labs' reconstruction: the network approved a withdrawal that should never have qualified. Protocol-level theft — your seed phrase was never the weak link.
▪️ North Korea baited fake IT job interviews, infected 30,000+ machines in 100+ countries, pulled millions in crypto from late 2025 to July 2026.
▪️ In Venezuela, merchants are getting paid in fake USDT — zero-value tokens dropping into self-custody wallets. The goods left, the money never existed.

Fear & Greed at 70 (Greed), one notch down from 71 — the crowd is comfortable, nobody's hedging. That's the exact tape where protocol drains and fake-token payments keep working: everyone watches the green candles, nobody checks the reserve. Watch alt volumes today — if NEAR and AVAX hold on that turnover, the rotation is real; if it dies, yesterday was the exit liquidity.

🔮 Greed 70 with BTC flat: either alts are front-running something, or the exit liquidity is getting warmed up.
