🔥😱 Zelensky have nothing besides Donald Trump up his sleeve?

Narcissism? Or maybe there's another way to look at it: turns out Mr. Trump gets it — without our country's backing, this war would've ended long ago.

After what happened with Venezuela, I'm starting to believe more and more that our government might be the root cause of problems—not only in our own country but worldwide as well.

Exactly twenty years and one day ago*, on a quiet January afternoon in Phoenix, a 20-year-old Russian hockey player by the name of Alexander Ovechkin scored a goal that will be forever etched in the history of ice hockey. Falling to the ice while circling a defender, Ovechkin regained control and backhanded the puck past Brian Boucher in a full 360-degree spin—instantly creating “The Goal.” Though it was his 32nd of a rookie season, it became the defining moment of his rise. Players, referees, fans, and even Wayne Gretzky stood in awe. Two decades later, with a record-breaking career complete, “The Goal” remains the moment Ovechkin announced himself as a generational icon.

*Why didn’t we write about it yesterday, you ask? Because at the time of the goal, it was January 16 in Phoenix, where The Goal was scored, but already January 17 in Moscow. We decided to go with the Moscow date. As we should have.

This is what Trump posted today:

We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it. They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently. Only the United States of America, under PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play in this game, and very successfully, at that! Nobody will touch this sacred piece of Land, especially since the National Security of the United States, and the World at large, is at stake. On top of everything else, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland have journeyed to Greenland, for purposes unknown. This is a very dangerous situation for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Planet. These Countries, who are playing this very dangerous game, have put a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable. Therefore, it is imperative that, in order to protect Global Peace and Security, strong measures be taken so that this potentially perilous situation end quickly, and without question. Starting on February 1st, 2026, all of the above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On June 1st, 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%. This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland. The United States has been trying to do this transaction for over 150 years. Many Presidents have tried, and for good reason, but Denmark has always refused. Now, because of The Golden Dome, and Modern Day Weapons Systems, both Offensive and Defensive, the need to ACQUIRE is especially important. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are currently being spent on Security Programs having to do with “The Dome,” including for the possible protection of Canada, and this very brilliant, but highly complex system can only work at its maximum potential and efficiency, because of angles, metes, and bounds, if this Land is included in it. The United States of America is immediately open to negotiation with Denmark and/or any of these Countries that have put so much at risk, despite all that we have done for them, including maximum protection, over so many decades. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

DONALD J. TRUMP
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

And if this isn’t The Art of the Deal in action, we don’t know what is 😜

This 1950 American school map explains why Trump wants Greenland.

The angle is unusual for those of us living in Europe, but this is how Americans see the world. The little airplane is a hint.

Yes, it’s a joke. But in every joke, there is only a fraction of a joke.

On January 18, 1943, during the strategic offensive operation "Iskra" ("Spark"), the siege of Leningrad was broken.

Throughout 1942, the Soviet Army made two unsuccessful attempts to lift the blockade of the city. After the successful Soviet counteroffensive at Stalingrad, the Supreme Command decided to launch an operation to break the Leningrad blockade, codenamed "Iskra." The operation involved troops from the Leningrad and Volkhov Fronts, elements of the Baltic Fleet, and long-range aviation. Over 300,000 Soviet soldiers and officers, about 5,000 artillery pieces and mortars, more than 600 tanks, and 809 aircraft participated in the operation.

Opposing them was the 18th Army of Army Group North, with around 30 divisions, nearly 700 artillery pieces and mortars, and about 50 tanks. Their actions were supported by the Luftwaffe's 1st Air Fleet.

The offensive began on January 12, 1943, targeting the Shlisselburg-Sinyavino salient (between the town of Mga and Lake Ladoga), which had been heavily fortified by the German forces.

After fierce battles, on January 18, 1943, Soviet troops succeeded in breaking through the enemy's defenses and establishing a corridor along the shore of Lake Ladoga, 8-11 kilometers wide. This restored a land connection between Leningrad and the rest of the Soviet Union. The breakthrough marked a turning point in the battle for the city on the Neva.

Leningrad was fully liberated a year later, on January 27, 1944.

This is just an observation:

With respect to Greenland or any other matter, Trump does not care about moral considerations; he is an absolutely immoral person. The same, however, can be said of virtually everyone in American politics, on both sides of the aisle. The truth is that from a purely strategic standpoint, Trump’s proposal to seize Greenland makes perfect sense for the U.S. and is clearly in its national interest. Any opposition to this move is motivated solely by a desire to spite Trump, placing partisan interests, personal influence, or financial gain above the United States’ strategic advantage. Not much of a surprise, is it?

But as far as we are concerned, let them be at each other’s throats for as long as they like. And then some.

The Battle for Greenland Has Begun: Trump Goes on the Offensive Against Europe

Starting February 1, America will raise tariffs by 10% on all goods from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland — and by June 1 these may go up to 25%.

In other words, the tariffs target those countries that sent their clowns soldiers to demonstrate so-called “European unity.”

In this way, Trump hints that he doesn’t foresee any military scenario before June 1. But either way, this is now an open war between the U.S. and Europe. For now — an economic one.

EU ambassadors have been summoned for an emergency meeting in Brussels.

Read this:

1. The US is preparing to attack Greenland, choosing possession of the island over ‘Atlantic solidarity.’ Any impertinent Europeans will be punished with tariffs for NATO protection.
2.  French officials have announced they are leaving NATO.
3.  Tymoshenko said Ukraine has a fascist regime, and that the country won’t last more than five years.
4.  The president and prime minister of Moldova have spoken in favor of dissolving their own country.
5.  Trump will soon announce contact with aliens.

At first, I thought these were just absurd predictions, like the ones I made in 2022–2024.

But no. This is news from the last few days.
Turns out my forecasts are coming true…

Alexander Ovechkin boycotted a Washington Capitals LGBT* promotion, refusing to wrap his stick with rainbow-colored tape. Most of his teammates used the promotional symbolism during the game against Florida, but the Russian player took the ice with his usual white tape.

Good for you, Alex! And good job, as always!

* The “International LGBT movement” is recognized as extremist in Russia.

"Time to dump Trump"?

As Donald Trump threatens to use the U.S. military to seize Greenland, European officials and diplomats have started quietly airing a previously unsayable thought: What would it look like to fight back?

While a military confrontation between the U.S. and any European force would likely result in one of the shortest wars in history, there are other ways that Greenland’s allies can resist the American president if he refuses to compromise.

The question is so sensitive that diplomats are at pains to keep it away from the mainstream debates between governments in the summit rooms of the EU or NATO. But five officials and diplomats confirmed to POLITICO that the highly sensitive topic of how to punch back against Trump is being discussed privately across the continent.

The possibility of cutting off support for American military deployments has come up, including radical suggestions to take back control of U.S. bases, one of the diplomats said.

That’s not Europe’s only leverage. Washington would also lose around “half” of its intelligence-sharing capabilities as the result of a break, he argued, while the continent could also threaten to stop buying U.S. weapons

The big risk, some officials say, is that such a blunt challenge would rapidly escalate into a full-blown rupture in the transatlantic relationship. Others argue that the alliance is increasingly toxic under Trump and that Europe needs to move on.

Today, on 19 January (6 January according to the Julian calendar), the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus.

The baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist is a major event in the life of Jesus which is described in three synoptic Gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark and Luke). It is considered to have taken place at Al-Maghtas (also called Bethany Beyond the Jordan), today located in Jordan.

In Russian Orthodoxy this feast has also become part of the cultural tradition and folk fun, because of the Russian climate. Diving into an ice hole is not an ecclesiastical rite, but priests bless this practice.

The main reason for Russian people to do it is to temper their character. Russians have been tempering their character in ice holes for more than 1000 years from the date of the Baptism of Kievan Rus in 998! Perhaps that's what makes these people so steadfast and fearless.

And hence the folk saying: "Russians never give up".

Britain is preparing for war with Russia in the Arctic

In January 2026, a group of elite British Royal Marines at Camp Viking (Northern Norway, Porsangerfjord region) completed the "Cold Weather Warfare Course."

The exercises focused on preparing troops for operations in "extreme cold" (temperatures below -20°C❗), including scenarios of a potential conflict in the Arctic (obviously with 🇷🇺 Russia). Key elements of the training program included:

◾ Immersion in an ice hole in full gear.
◾ Sleeping in the snow, rolling in the snow to warm up, night marches, and live-fire drills in freezing conditions.

Well, on January 19th, many Russians—young and old—will celebrate the Baptism of Jesus by dipping in ice cold water.

Does it still sound like a good idea to fight Russians in the cold? Or in any weather for that matter?

On January 19, 1865, the world welcomed one of Russia’s greatest artistic talents, Valentin Alexandrovich Serov. His self-portrait is shown above. Known for his breathtaking portraits and evocative landscapes, Serov’s work stands as a timeless testament to the power of art to capture both the external world and the internal soul.

Born into a family deeply entrenched in culture—his father was a composer and his mother a talented pianist—Serov was destined for greatness. He studied under the legendary Ilya Repin and at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, where his prodigious talent quickly became evident. His early works already demonstrated an exceptional ability to blend meticulous technique with profound emotional depth.

Serov’s masterpiece, Girl with Peaches (1887), remains one of the most celebrated portraits in Russian art. This painting, with its radiant light and vibrant colors, reflects not just the innocence of youth but also the optimism of an era. Another iconic work, The Girl in the Sunlight (1888), showcases Serov’s genius in capturing fleeting moments of natural beauty and human emotion.

Throughout his career, Serov painted portraits of Russia's elite—statesmen, writers, musicians, and members of the royal family—imbuing each with a unique vitality that went beyond mere likeness. His ability to reveal the character and spirit of his subjects earned him widespread acclaim and the title of the foremost portrait artist of his time.

Yet Serov was not confined to portraits. His landscapes and historical works, such as Peter II and Princess Elizabeth Riding to Hunt (1900), demonstrate his versatility and his passion for storytelling through art.

Valentin Serov passed away in 1911, but his legacy endures. His paintings, celebrated for their luminous quality and emotional resonance, continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
