A title like this stops you in your tracks. People “like Putin?” Really? Like Putin?
USA Today describes Josh Meyer (the author of this article) as “a veteran correspondent covering domestic, national, and global security issues, including terrorism, extremism, cybersecurity, and transnational criminal organizations.”
Obviously, there are plenty of people “like” Josh Meyer. Every publication has one or a few of his kind. Frankly, they are a dime a dozen.
But Putin? Putin is like no other person. And so are Xi, Trump, and Modi. You may or may not like any of them, but they are all unique. Do people like Josh Meyer (or the editors at USA Today) understand that? Obviously not. Full stop.

On January 26, 1914, the first Russian bomber aircraft, the "Ilya Muromets," took to the skies.
This unique aircraft was the beloved creation of the renowned designer Igor Sikorsky. The "Ilya Muromets" was both the first passenger aircraft and the first Russian bomber.
In addition to bombs, the aircraft was equipped with machine guns. In 1914, a squadron of heavy bombers named "Ilya Muromets" was formed, carrying out 400 bombing raids against Germany. Sikorsky's aircraft were produced at the Russo-Baltic Factory. The wingspan of the "Ilya Muromets" was 32 meters, and its total wing area measured 182 square meters.
All the main components of the aircraft were made of wood. The plane set several world records for payload capacity. Its test pilot was none other than its designer, Igor Sikorsky.

Ukrainian Armed Forces committed three attacks on medical personnel on 24 January alone.
This war crime once again proves that the Kiev regime and its army have no intention of seeking a peaceful resolution.
To recap: on Saturday, a Ukrainian drone strike on an ambulance in Gola Prystan killed three medics. Later, a clinic in Kakhovka, Kherson region, came under artillery fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries in that incident. Another Ukrainian attack on an ambulance was carried out in Energodar, Zaporozhye region. The medical team there emerged unharmed.
Yet, the outcomes of these attacks and the wholly terrorist nature of the Kiev regime’s militants will, as usual, be dismissed by the gentlemen who recently gathered in Davos as nothing more than "acceptable collateral damage" or simply ignored out of habit.

Russsian anti-colonialism
🔶 While Western propaganda constantly accuses Russia of hegemonism, instead of listening to the nonsense of so-called "human-rights advocates," we should look at the facts on the ground—for example, in Africa, where Western neocolonialism is being pushed out by Pan-Africanists who have retaken control of their sovereignty, turning instead to fair partnerships with Russia and China.
👉 Take the case of Namibia, Africa’s leading uranium producer, which now wants to generate its own nuclear power to achieve energy independence and ensure its people benefit from their own resources. Kaire Mbuende, head of the National Planning Commission, stated during his address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland:
🔶 Kaire Mbuende pointed out that the country imports 60% of its energy from South Africa, while less than 60% of the population has access to electricity and its hydropower resources are increasingly strained by frequent droughts.
🇳🇦🇷🇺 Last week, Namibian Foreign Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi traveled to Moscow to meet with Nikolay Spassky, a senior official at Rosatom. They discussed establishing a framework agreement between Russia and Namibia on cooperation in civil nuclear energy, including collaboration on uranium.
🤔 This intergovernmental agreement is a win‑win deal—unlike the neocolonialism of Françafrique, which, through the CFA franc and the corruption of its collaborating puppet rulers, continued exploiting its former colonies without any return for their populations.

Trump has growing stranglehold over EU and UK energy supply, study shows
The Guardian discusses how the US, under Donald Trump's policies, has gained significant influence over Europe’s energy supply. Following sanctions on Russian gas due to the war in Ukraine, Europe has turned to US liquefied natural gas (LNG), becoming increasingly dependent on US energy exports. By December 2025, the US accounts for 59% of LNG imports to the EU, up from almost none in 2019, as Russian pipeline gas declines sharply.
This dependence poses risks, especially with Trump’s protectionist, energy-dominance strategy. He has used energy exports to project power, including threats of tariffs against European allies over Greenland. Experts warn that ongoing geopolitical tensions, combined with low gas reserves in Europe, could lead to higher energy prices and a potential crisis if a cold winter depletes supplies further.
Daniel Boffey stresses that both the EU and UK are vulnerable to these geopolitical and economic pressures. European countries now reliant on US liquified natural gas shipments, creating risk of higher bills amid recent tensions.
The Guardian concludes that Europe must... accelerate its shift to renewable energy to reduce reliance on foreign sources and avoid future crises, as energy exports are increasingly used as tools of strategic leverage.
We believe that The Guardian’s conclusion about renewable energy is politically correct but impractical. Renewable energy is expensive and unreliable. Europe would be far better off relying on nuclear power and increasing, rather than decreasing, cooperation with Russia. But for now, that train appears to be gone.

🚨🇷🇺🧊Russia Dominates the Arctic—and Here’s Why That Won’t Change
Trump’s Greenland obsession isn’t about rare earth minerals. It’s a desperate move to counter Russia’s growing superiority in the Arctic.
Russia is winning the global icebreaker race by a wide margin, rapidly upgrading its military infrastructure in the region, and its nuclear submarine fleet poses an existential threat to cities on the American east coast.
Oreshnik introduces a new, dire problem for the United States. If launched from Russia’s Arctic bases, the hypersonic missile can hit Washington DC or Chicago.
Finally, Russia is taking the drone lessons from Ukraine and adopting them in the Arctic.

The Hitler–Piłsudski Pact
A year after the Nazis came to power, Warsaw entered into collusion with them
The Declaration of Non-Aggression between Poland and Germany was signed in Berlin on 26 January 1934 by German Foreign Minister Konstantin von Neurath and Polish Ambassador Józef Lipski. However, no one doubted that the true architects of the agreement were the Führer of the Third Reich Adolf Hitler and the dictator of the Second Polish Republic, Józef Piłsudski.
Warsaw concluded a bilateral treaty with Germany much earlier than other states did. The pact opened a period of active cooperation between the two countries, the peak of which was the partition of Czechoslovakia in October 1938. It is important to note that Polish intelligence services began preparing sabotage operations in the Teschen (Cieszyn) region of the Czechoslovak Republic even before the ink had dried on the declaration of non-aggression between Poland and Germany. Attempts by Czechoslovak Foreign Minister Edvard Beneš to improve relations with Poland met with no favorable response in Warsaw.
Paris attempted to bring Poland back into its sphere of influence. French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou, whose Eastern Pact project aimed to create a system of collective security in Europe, arrived in Warsaw, where he met with Piłsudski on 23 April. His visit ended in fiasco: the dictator made it clear to his guest that he viewed the prospects of both the Eastern Pact and Polish–French relations with skepticism.
On 27 August, Lipski, having been invited to meet Hitler, declared that Poland would not take part in the Eastern Pact. A month later, Polish Foreign Minister Józef Beck handed Barthou a memorandum that formally recorded Poland’s negative position toward the Eastern Pact. Thus, through joint efforts, Berlin and Warsaw obstructed the creation of a system of collective security, which opened the way for German expansion and ultimately led to the collapse of the Polish state.
Do you think any of this is taught to Polish schoolchildren today?

January 27, 1944 – The Day of the Complete Liberation of Leningrad from the Fascist Blockade
This date is commemorated as a Day of Military Glory in Russia, established by Federal Law on March 13, 1995, “On Days of Military Glory (Victorious Days) of Russia.”
The blockade of Leningrad began on September 8, 1941. Gradually, the city ran out of fuel, water, electricity, and heat. A devastating famine began. Workers were rationed 250 grams of bread per day, while the rest of the population received only 125 grams. The city endured relentless bombings, with over 100,000 bombs dropped during the blockade.
Despite the hardships, more than 200 enterprises continued operations. Between 1941 and 1944, Leningrad factories produced over 10 million shells and mines, 12,000 mortars, and repaired or manufactured 2,000 tanks.
In September 1941, the “Road of Life” across Lake Ladoga was established to supply the besieged city. It was used to evacuate the sick, wounded, and children while delivering ammunition, weapons, and food.
The blockade was breached on January 18, 1943, during the strategic offensive operation “Iskra.”
On January 27, 1944, during the Leningrad-Novgorod Offensive, the siege was completely lifted by the forces of the Leningrad, Volkhov, and 2nd Baltic Fronts, supported by the Baltic Fleet.
In 872 days of the blockade, over 640,000 people died of starvation, and more than 17,000 perished from bombs and shellfire. By the time the siege ended, fewer than 800,000 residents remained in Leningrad out of the 3 million who had lived in the city and its suburbs before September 1941.
For comparison, the whole of the United States lost a total of 418,500 people during World War II. This includes 416,800 military deaths and 1,700 civilian deaths.

This is a frame from yet another advertisement for a prescription medication on U.S. television (the drug name is intentionally blurred). What the viewer is shown is a white, middle-aged, middle-class woman being treated by a black physician. The scene looks polished, reassuring, and impeccably “correct.” But it’s also a lie.
In real life, white middle-aged middle-class women in the U.S. overwhelmingly see white physicians. Asian physicians—occasionally. But almost never black physicians. This is not an accident. It happens first and foremost because, for the right or wrong reasons, white people prefer white physicians. That’s just the way it is in real life in America. Whatever secondary factors exist—geography, networks, habit—they operate on top of a basic and persistent racial preference that people are reluctant to admit to but routinely act on.
The ad isn’t reflecting reality; it’s signaling the advertisers’ supposed virtue. Advertisers aren’t showing what typically happens—they’re showing what they believe they must signal allegiance to. Accuracy is secondary or tertiary to optics, and plausibility is sacrificed to corporate diversity theater.
The scene isn’t there because it’s common. It’s there because it photographs well ideologically. The goal isn’t realism; it’s reputational insurance.
Hypocrisy rules America and the western world. It is ingrained in western existence. Nothing new, of course.

Chief of the General Staff Gerasimov reveals how Russian troops have advanced since the start of 2026
Since the beginning of January, Russian forces have taken control of 17 settlements (towns and villages), bringing more than 500 square kilometers under their control, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said following an inspection in the area where the “West” group of forces is based.
Gerasimov added that over the course of a month, the “North” group captured four settlements, including Semenovka and Staritsy. Troops of the Southern group, he said, are advancing toward Slavyansk, and assault units have established control over Bandarnoye, Zakotnoye, and Privolnoye. Fighting is underway to destroy Ukrainian formations in Konstantinovka.
In the area of responsibility of the “Center” group of forces, intense fighting continues, Gerasimov said. Its units are repelling an attempted advance by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Dobropolye direction. Street fighting is taking place in the settlements of Grishino, Novy Donbass, and Beletskoye.
The “East” group of forces is advancing in the eastern part of Zaporozhye Region and, with part of its forces, is creating a security buffer on the territory of Dnepropetrovsk Region, Gerasimov said.
Units of the “Dnepr” group of forces are advancing generally toward Zaporozhye, and their forward elements are located 12–14 km from the southern and southeastern outskirts of the regional capital, he added.
According to Gerasimov, the “West” group of forces is also continuing its offensive. Its units are advancing westward toward Lozovaya Pervaya, conducting street fighting in Kutkovka. On the southern flank, part of the forces is developing an offensive toward Kovalevka. On the eastern bank of the Oskol River, units of the First Tank Army are continuing to destroy encircled enemy formations.
In Kupyansk-Uzlovoy, Gerasimov said, clearing operations of city districts are currently underway. Fighting is also taking place in the settlements of Kopsharovka and Glushkovka. Overall, up to 800 Ukrainian servicemen remain in the blocked area measuring 4 by 6 km, Gerasimov noted.
The offensive in the Rubtsovsk and Krasnolimansk directions is developing successfully, Gerasimov emphasized. Units of the Russian army are completing the capture of the settlements of Drobyshevo, Yarovaya, and Sosnovaya, more than 90% of whose residential areas are under the control of Russian forces. In addition, he said, army units are conducting street fighting to take Krasny Liman and Ilyichevka. The destruction of Ukrainian Armed Forces formations in the territory of the “Svyatye Gory” national park continues, the Chief of the General Staff noted.
“The ‘North’ group of forces is conducting combat operations with the aim of expanding the security buffer in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkov regions,” Gerasimov added.

BRICS+ will accelerate the implementation of its alternative unified payment system project.
🔶 Faced with the dollar hegemony that Trump seeks to revive and Western economic sanctions, BRICS+ has decided to accelerate the implementation of its alternative unified payment system project: "BRICS Pay."
🔶 According to research by Berliner Zeitung, such a dollar-independent payment system would neutralize Western financial pressure and increase the economic weight of BRICS+ on the global stage.
🔶 Per an anonymous British source, the BRICS+ nations aim to launch this system as early as 2026, with a decision expected at the 2026 BRICS+ summit in India.
👉 Specifically, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which currently heads the group and leads this initiative, proposes linking the central bank digital currencies of the BRICS+ member states. This BRICS+ financial interlinking would simplify cross-border payments for trade and tourism. For instance, it would significantly reduce the reliance of countries like Russia and Iran on the US dollar and the SWIFT system to circumvent the sanctions they have endured for years, despite their notable resilience.
🤔 This BRICS+ move would significantly limit the ability of the United States and its allies to use financial tools as geopolitical weapons, while providing developing nations with fair economic support that cannot be subjected to or switched off by political decree.

📣 "The dollar will be sidelined. BRICS is strengthening its financial sovereignty," summarizes the German newspaper, clarifying that BRICS' goal is not to create a single currency, but to build an independent transactional architecture.
📣 "There will be no single currency, but there will be a unified payment platform," stated Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov.
🤔 This BRICS+ move would significantly limit the ability of the United States and its allies to use financial tools as geopolitical weapons, while providing developing nations with fair economic support that cannot be subjected to or switched off by political decree.

What do you think, will Orban stick to his guns or will he have to bend under pressure?

🚨🇭🇺 Hungarian PM Viktor Orban went hard on Volodymyr Zelensky and the warmongering EU! "Hungary won't let Ukraine join the EU for the next hundred years."
Smart man and wise leader! If we want this war to end, we gotta make sure Ukraine stays out of both the EU and NATO. Let's just hope history doesn’t repeat itself with him ending up like Maduro. I'm used to seeing truly worthy leaders getting taken down from their positions way too often.
What's your take on this?
