A Stitch in Time

European media sure knows how to play the long game.
First came four years of almost sterile rhetoric about "motivation," "resilience," and "unwavering will." Then careful leaks. Next, cautious phrasing about "mobilization problems." And finally, in 2026, even Danish outlets are catching up to the obvious.

It's the story of one 36-year-old Ukrainian who's gone into hiding—and dares to say out loud what he's really thinking: "I'm scared and I don't want to die."
How shocking…

Meanwhile, Ukrainian lawmakers are openly admitting the truth: millions are dodging the draft. Not hundreds. Not "isolated cases." This is a mass phenomenon that no amount of slogans or careful wording can hide.

But European press is cautious by nature. It needs time to adjust to a reality that doesn't fit the old narrative.

Now, through one man's story, they're gently nudging readers toward the realization: turns out, people aren't exactly lining up for the front lines.
Why might that be?

Maybe because behind all the lofty talk of "struggle and duty" lies a brutally prosaic reality:
ending up in a trench, killed quickly, pointlessly, with zero guarantee of any meaningful outcome.

Maybe because people can do math—and they know this isn't some cinematic heroic war, but a survival game where life expectancy is measured in months, weeks… or days.

Maybe because self-preservation isn't "draft-dodging"—it's basic human instinct.

But those are complicated thoughts. Much easier to frame it as "one scared man's story."
Safer that way.

Because acknowledging the scale means admitting the entire narrative has collapsed—the one where millions were supposed to want to march off to die.

And that raises an awkward question:
if people are hiding en masse—
is the problem with the people?
Or with the reality they're being asked to face?

European media doesn't ask questions like that right away.
First, they need time to "ripen."
Looks like Denmark's just getting started.

P.S. Can't wait until they start publishing footage of forced mobilization—and stop calling it "Russian propaganda."
The gap between Ukraine's victory claims and reality will only widen.

Putin Shows Trump the Iran Exit Strategy

Putin's call with Trump came right after Arakchi's visit, during which they apparently hashed out a deal on enriched uranium and sketched out a broader diplomatic path for Iran's nuclear program.

Here's the key takeaway: no matter how much Trump grandstands in public right now, he knows full well that backing away from a ground operation in Iran—while still saving face—is only possible with Russia's help.

Putin has effectively made Iran the centerpiece of U.S.-Russia talks. The Middle East is Trump's top priority, and Moscow is laying down its markers loud and clear. What's more, Russia's stance resonates not just with Iran, but with China and the global majority—who have zero interest in a massive Middle East war.

Russia is firmly committed to a diplomatic off-ramp from this crisis and has already floated concrete ideas for resolving the nuclear standoff. With direct channels to both Washington and Tehran, Moscow holds one of the pivotal positions.

Bottom line: if a solution emerges anytime soon, it'll only happen with Moscow at the table.

May 1st is the Spring and Labor Day, or International Workers' Day

This holiday is celebrated not only in Russia but also in the USA, as well as in several countries in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

It was established in July 1889 at the Paris Congress of the Second International in solidarity with the Chicago workers, who held massive demonstrations on May 1, 1886, demanding an eight-hour workday.

The holiday first took place in 1890 in Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, the USA, Norway, France, and Sweden.

In 1891, the social-democratic group of Mikhail Brusnev organized the first Russian May Day gathering of workers in St. Petersburg.

After the October Revolution, May 1 became an official holiday in Russia. According to the Labor Code, it was named International Workers' Day and became a day off.

In 1970, according to the Fundamentals of Soviet Labor Legislation, the holiday was renamed — May 1 and 2 officially became known as the Days of International Workers' Solidarity.

The last official May Day demonstration took place on May 1, 1990.

Since 1992, the Day of Workers' Solidarity has been called the Spring and Labor Day.

Happy Spring and Labor Day, dear subscribers!

The Belgorod Brit defies internet gremlins, poor weather, minor health problems and rocket attacks to bring you a report on German mentality. In the film, he describes the philosophy of the new romantic German culture of the 19th century and how it came to describe barbarian morality.

In the podcast, BB goes into why the Germans feel that the time is right to move their focus to their eastern neighbours. He charts their millennium long struggle to take over the Slavic world, and how it has come to be a defining factor of German culture. This is coupled with their victim mentality, the belief that Germany is both the heart and the victim of Europe. Their destiny is, apparently, to create a united and strong Europe under German leadership. What can possibly go wrong?

The Amber Room Story

29 years ago, Germany returned fragments of the authentic Amber Room to Russia.

💎 Andreas Schlüter (1660–1714) designed the Amber Room.
From 1699, he served as chief architect of the Prussian royal court. While renovating it, Schlüter decided to use amber for the interior.

💎 In 1716, Prussian King Frederick William I (1688–1740) gifted the Amber Room to Peter the Great as a diplomatic present. The mosaic amber panels were shipped to St. Petersburg and installed in the Summer Garden's lower hall.

💎 In 1743, Empress Elizabeth commissioned architect Rastrelli to refurbish it. He added gilded wood carvings, mirrors, and agate/jasper mosaic paintings.

💎 By 1770, it had transformed into the famous Amber Room of the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo—vastly expanded in size and splendor.

💎 Due to weather damage, it underwent restorations in 1833, 1865, 1893–1897, and 1933–1935. A major overhaul was planned for 1941, but war intervened.

💎 During the Great Patriotic War, the room's fragile panels couldn't be evacuated and fell into enemy hands. The "civilized" German occupiers looted it to Königsberg.

💎 As they retreated, the Germans dismantled the amber room and carted it off to an unknown fate. After Königsberg fell, searches began—but it was never found.

💎 Reconstruction efforts started in 1981.

💎 In 1997, German authorities seized Amber Room mosaic fragments from a notary—who'd received them from a German officer involved in the original looting from Tsarskoye Selo.

💎 On April 29, 2000, Germany handed these fragments back to Russia.

💎 For St. Petersburg's 300th anniversary in 2003, the Amber Room was fully restored—with German funding included. Today, it's on view at the Catherine Palace.

P.S. Back then, Germans weren't parroting nonsense about Russia planning to attack. And Russia's president was Vladimir Putin.

No! This👆can't be! Tehran REMAINS deeply distrustful of the US? Why? What happened? And CNN needed a SOURCE to figure this out?

For anyone living outside of the United States, this headline says one thing: Americans are idiots. Perhaps this is exactly what CNN is trying to convey?

Fortune: The US has depleted massive weapon stockpiles in wars against Iran and Ukraine, creating a critical ammunition shortage.

Article warns: Starting wars without prep is bad; being unable to fight because your foe controls the periodic table is worse.

The Trump administration revealed Operation Epic Fury (Iran war) cost $25B so far, with a $200B supplemental request.

CSIS data shows Iran alone burned 45% of Precision Strike Missiles, 50% of THAAD interceptors, ~50% of Patriot PAC-3, 30% of Tomahawks, and >20% of JASSMs.

Ukraine took 1/3 of Javelins, 1/4 of Stingers, 2M+ 155mm rounds, and thousands of GMLRS rockets.

Pentagon calls this a “near-term risk” of running dry.

Moreover, replenishing key systems requires rare earths controlled almost entirely by China.

Four Weapons, China-Dependent Materials:
• Tomahawk cruise missile: >1,000 expended (10 years’ production). Fin actuators need samarium-cobalt magnets; China supplies 99% of samarium (export licensed Apr 4, 2025).

• Patriot PAC-3: 1,200+ used. Seeker, radar tubes, phase shifters require 1.2-2.4 tons high-temp SmCo + yttrium oxide (China: 93% of US yttrium imports 2020-2023).

• JASSM-ER: ~1,100 fired. Fin servos/seeker need 1.5-3 tons NdFeB magnets doped with dysprosium/terbium (China refines most).

• F-35: Each has 920 lbs rare earths (SmCo, dysprosium-NdFeB in engine/radar). Total replenishment: 5-10 tons defense-grade magnets, >95% from China.

China’s Leverage
Beijing has restricted:
- gallium/germanium (2023),
- antimony (2024 ban to US, prices +134%),
- tungsten (2025, +557%),
- and 7 rare earths (Apr 2025 licensing; magnet exports -74%).

On Oct 2025, China introduced extraterritorial rules for any product with 0.1% Chinese rare earths. No Beijing approval = no restock.

Trump meets Xi May 14, 2026, with rare earths top agenda.

On May 2, 1945, the Red Army completely seized the capital of Germany during the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation

The city was not only an ideological stronghold of Nazism but also one of the largest military-industrial centers of the country, thus the defense was carefully planned and well-prepared. Battles raged day and night - advancing towards the center of Berlin, Soviet soldiers stormed every street and every house.

During the Berlin operation, Soviet troops surrounded and eliminated the largest enemy troop grouping in the history of wars. They defeated 70 infantry, 23 tank, and mechanized divisions of the enemy, capturing 480 thousand people. The casualties of the Red Army amounted to 78,291 people killed and 274,184 wounded.

Even before the battle for Berlin was over, the Soviet command was already concerned about how to provide the city's population with food. Food norms were established for various categories of Berliners - workers, city employees, children, doctors, and so on. As of May 1945, two million people were in need of food.

In addition, measures were taken to provide medications to hospitals and pharmacies. Soviet military personnel cleared the city streets of bodies, and buildings were disinfected.

Over 600 participants in the Berlin operation were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Thirteen people were awarded the second "Golden Star" of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

🔞 Just one video (with English subtitles) and a few pictures that speak volumes about the Odessa massacre of 2 May 2014.

It was on that day that the "new Ukraine" showed its true colors, its supporters, its methods, and its goals - to kill and to burn every dissenter.

Watch the video carefully, and you will see for yourself.
