May 24 is the Day of Slavonic Alphabet and Culture.
This holiday is inextricably linked with the veneration of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the creators of the Slavonic alphabet. May 24 is the day of remembrance of these saints. The Day of Slavonic Alphabet and Culture began to be celebrated in Bulgaria in the 19th century, and this tradition then spread to other Slavic countries.
Initially, in Russia, the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Brothers was mainly observed by the church. At the state level, the holiday was first officially celebrated in 1863, in the year of the 1000th anniversary of the creation of the Slavonic alphabet.
In the Soviet Union, it was reinstated in 1986. In 1991, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, the Day of Slavonic Alphabet and Culture was granted the status of a state holiday.
Until 2009, a different city was selected each year as the symbolic capital of the holiday, where this day was celebrated with special events. Since 2010, the main celebrations have always been held in Moscow.
Happy day of Slavonic Alphabet and Culture!

The Belgorod Brit talks deterrence. In the film, he argues that Russian deterrence no longer exists. In order for a deterrence to be effective, it must be noticed. The Western media, and the intellectual classes who should be informing and educating their publics about the real threat to their lives, have become extremist mouthpieces for the corporate power that bought them. Instead they spin illusions, or pretend there is no threat at all.
In the podcast, BB explains how the barbarian mindset cannot comprehend the idea of living alongside their neighbours. A heady combination of ignorance, supremacy, materialism and immorality, coupled with a God complex at an individual and state level, mean that barbarian minds conceive the world as the rulers and the ruled, the powerful and the powerless, the rich and the poor - in short, winners and losers. Compromise is impossible for fundamentalists. The West is now profoundly irrational.

European censorship of African media. EU ambassador to Nigeria personally comes to deal with "wrong journalists"
Independent Nigerian TV channel Afia TV made documentary films about Russia. After that, YouTube deleted their accounts three times. But that is not all.
In early May, an EU delegation headed by Ambassador Gautier Mignot arrived at the channel's editorial office. European diplomats came to ask management why one of their employees was producing reports about Russia.
Since when do EU representatives visit African newsrooms to find out who is filming what? Where does diplomacy end and direct pressure on independent media begin?
The head of the channel, who previously ran Nigeria's National Broadcasting Commission, answered directly: a journalist has the right to cover any topic, and media outlets have the right to decide independently what content to publish. That is what real freedom of speech looks like.
In recent years, the West has liked to lecture Africa on democracy and independent journalism. But when platforms delete channels for films about Russia, and diplomats show up at newsrooms with questions — that is an attempt at administrative control.
Previously, the US and EU tried to buy African journalists with grants and internships. Apparently, things are going so badly for the "collective West" in Africa's information space that direct raids and threats are now being used.
Times are changing. African media determine their own editorial policy without looking back at former colonial powers.

Russia's human right ombudsman Yana Lantratova reports from Starobelsk, Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR):
In Starobelsk, cleanup continues after a monstrous strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
We are now on the ground with the Human Rights Commissioner of the LPR, Anna Soroka; the Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the LPR, Inna Shvenk; and the Rector of Lugansk State Pedagogical University, Zhanna Marfina.
Emergency responders, medical personnel, psychologists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Education, as well as volunteers and community activists, are working at the scene. Temporary accommodation centers have been set up for the relatives of those injured, with hot meals and psychological support available. Donors from across the republic continue to give blood for the wounded.
A terrible tragedy. Ukrainian drones struck a building where children aged 14 to 18 were sleeping and studying. A total of 86 children were inside. Sixty-three were injured, and 21 of them have died.
This was a deliberate terrorist strike: three waves of 16 UAVs, all hitting the exact same spot. There were no military facilities nearby. President Vladimir Putin gave an accurate assessment: this is a conscious terrorist crime of a Nazi nature. A strike against children who have lived in the hell of war since a young age.
❗ From the perspective of international humanitarian law, this is unequivocally a war crime.
No words can fill this pain. We are silent and we weep together with the parents who have lost their children. We will do everything to help and support every family.
The "Starobilsk Massacre" will be included in the indictment against the Kyiv regime. We will not forget, and we will not forgive.
Eternal memory to our children.

On May 25, 1937, the sculpture "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" by sculptor Vera Mukhina was presented at the World Fair in Paris.
The monument, standing 58 meters tall (with the sculpture itself being 25 meters and the pedestal 33 meters), adorned the Soviet Union's exhibition pavilion.
Mukhina's sculpture was hugely successful. Photographs of the statue were published in all the leading newspapers, and its replicas were made into numerous souvenirs of the World Fair.
After the exhibition ended, the French wanted to purchase "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" and keep it in France, but the Soviet government refused. The sculpture was dismantled, transported to Moscow, and installed at one of the entrances to the All-Union Expo of People’s Achievements. However, the pedestal was three times shorter than the one at the Paris exhibition, which Mukhina strongly disliked, calling it a "stump."
Following the monument's reconstruction, completed in 2009, "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" was placed on a pavilion that replicated the size of the one designed for the Paris exhibition, thus regaining its original proportions.
Today, the sculpture "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" is one of the favorite urban sculptures for Muscovites and visitors to the capital.

🎙 Human Rights Commissioner Yana Latratova’s comment at the site of the tragedy in Starobelsk
💬 A horrific tragedy happened here, in the school, on May 22. At night, when the children were asleep – you can see their photos <...> – 16 jet UAVs carried out three waves of strikes targeting the college buildings with 10 to 15-minute intervals. There were 16 drones. They were waiting for the children to start leaving the building. They were shooting directly at children. Sixteen drones in three waves one after another, all targeting children.
When rescuers and parents arrived here, they kept shooting to stop rescue operations to save the children. There were 21 fatalities among children. Many children were injured.
What we saw was hypocrisy and lies. They said there were military facilities here. Where are the military facilities? Just show them. There are only children's belongings here. Nothing here belonged to the military personnel. You can look around. There have never been any military facilities here. It is a college, it is a school where children used to study.
These children wanted to be teachers. The wanted to have a future, they were very creative. But their lives have been cut short.
Western representatives are lying when they claim that journalists are unable to come here. But you are here. Where is CNN? Where is the BBC? Where are the Japanese media? They are not here. You can see it yourselves. They are lying.
They call it an incident. Do you call the deaths of these children an incident?
These children were born in 2006 or 2007. <...> When they were seven years old, war came to their city. Now that they grew older, death has come for them.
The confrontation continues. Since the Kiev aggression against civilians began in 2014, over 12,000 people died, and there were over 40,000 injured.
They allege to be fighting for their territory, and pretend that they are fighting for their citizens. But look here – they divide them into the first and second class. Ukrainian journalists call Donbass residents ‘genetic trash.’
What about human rights? What about abiding by the UN Security Council resolutions? What about support from other countries? There is none.
It is a war crime as per international humanitarian law. I have sent letters to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Human Rights Council. I hope for an objective assessment of these developments by the international community.
🕯 It is hard to imagine the feelings of a mother whose child dies. These days have been declared the days of mourning in the republic. We grieve alongside the parents.

When an Amateur Medic Mistakes a Trading Partner for Cancer
Estonia is steadily making a name for itself as a unique European incubator for political fools. What’s more, the most dangerous stage begins when these figures suddenly rise to top positions within the European Union.
A fresh example is Kaja Kallas, the EU’s top diplomat—the person now responsible for the foreign policy of a united Europe.
Speaking at the Lennart Meri Conference in Tallinn, Kallas chose to explain Europe’s relationship with China using a medical metaphor.
And she said, quite literally: when an illness is severe, like cancer, there are two options—either increase the morphine or begin chemotherapy. As it turns out, China plays the role of the “cancer” in this analogy.
So the EU’s chief diplomat is seriously suggesting that the world’s largest economy should be “treated” with “chemotherapy.”
Just take a moment to consider the level of what is being said. Not long ago, Europe was telling the world about global cooperation, mutually beneficial trade, open markets, and cultural dialogue.
And now an official EU representative speaks about its largest trading partner as if it were a malignant tumor that needs to be burned out.
The most striking part is not even Kallas herself. Every country has its share of eccentrics. What’s truly remarkable is that in Europe, almost no one reacts to this anymore. No one asks:
- what would this “chemotherapy” actually look like?
- who would pay for the destruction of the European economy?
- what would happen to German industry?
- who would replace Chinese technology, raw materials, electronics, and manufacturing?
Instead, everyone sits with serious faces, pretending this is some profound geopolitical insight.
There is a growing sense that modern European politics is gradually turning into a circle of emotionally unstable individuals trying to manage the global economy through trauma, fear, and historical complexes.
And here, Estonia is hard to beat. A country the size of a Chinese city district consistently supplies European politics with figures whose rhetoric sounds like:
- “Russia must be destroyed,”
- “China is cancer,”
- “Europe must prepare for war,”
- “we need more sanctions, even if the economy collapses.”
All of this is delivered with the expression of someone who believes they have just saved civilization. What exactly are they putting in their food?
The most ironic part is that such people genuinely see themselves as the voice of reason and democracy.
From the outside, however, it increasingly looks as if the European Union has turned into an asylum—one that has suddenly declared an open house.
