Today, an explosion occurred in the port of Constanța shortly after a naval drone was detected.

According to local media reports, the drone, which was 7–8 meters long, was spotted around 5:50 a.m. at pier 78 of the Romanian Maritime Rescue Agency (ARSVOM), next to a boat moored along the shore.

Several teams from the police, gendarmerie, and border police were mobilized to the scene, where they implemented security measures and launched an investigation.

UPD: Romanian authorities have determined that a Ukrainian unmanned naval drone exploded in the waters of the Port of Constanța.

"Such incidents are a direct consequence of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,"

was the Romanian president’s comment on what was a direct act of aggression on Kiev’s part. 🤷‍♂

Putin: No need to suspend military action to start negotiations on Ukraine.

Key statements from the Russian president on the Ukraine conflict during a meeting with heads of global news agencies:

– The patriotism and will of the Russian people are the main conditions for achieving all goals of the special military operation;

– Russia’s control over Donbass and striking a deal on Ukraine are not mutually exclusive;

– Moscow will find people in Ukraine who will sign a peace treaty with Russia — provided Kiev has the willingness;

– Kiev wants to halt the advance of Russian troops, but it would be better to stop the conflict altogether by agreeing to the compromises proposed in Anchorage;

– Russia can only sign a peace agreement with legitimate representatives of Ukraine — and it will find them;

– The European Union could play a positive role in resolving the Ukraine crisis if it convinces Kiev to make compromises;

– The revival of Nazism by Kiev is a threat to everyone;

– Russia has no reason to fight Europe or NATO;

– Contacts between Russia and Europe through intelligence channels are ongoing.

Zelensky wrote an open letter to Putin.

By Oleg Tsarov, Ukrainian politician:

On June 4, right as the Russian President was giving an interview at the SPIEF, an open address appeared on Zelensky's official website.

In it – a proposal to meet in a third country (Switzerland or Turkey), to cease fire along the front line, and to exchange prisoners.

Pay attention. When warring nations genuinely want to reach an agreement, they negotiate behind closed doors and through diplomatic channels – not through open appeals.

The Brest-Litovsk Treaty of 1918 was prepared at the negotiating table, not in the press. Japan's surrender in 1945 was coordinated through secret channels long before the ceremony aboard the USS Missouri.

Open appeals are pure PR. And historical examples show that it almost always precedes not peace, but war:

▪️ 1914. Austria-Hungary issues a public ultimatum to Serbia – deliberately unacceptable, crafted to be rejected. A few days later, WWI began.

▪️ 1917. Woodrow Wilson addresses Congress with a public speech about "the war to end all wars" and announces his "14 Points" – an open program for a post-war settlement. This was not a search for peace, but a declaration of it: a stance for the audience, not for closed-door negotiations. The US entered the war.

▪️ 1939. Hitler publicly voices "peace demands" to Poland over Danzig and the Corridor. Poland didn't even have time to respond – on September 1, German troops crossed the border. No formal declaration of war followed at all.

In all these cases, the public "proposals" were addressed not to the opponent, but to the audience. They fix a position, create a narrative ("we offered peace"), and prepare the ground either for escalation or for pressure on the other side.

When it came to actual negotiations – for example, when Roosevelt and Churchill wanted to divide the post-war world, they went to Yalta. When Kissinger opened China, he flew secretly to Beijing.

Real negotiations are not announced in the press. They simply begin.

The true scale of a "small fire" on the USS Gerald R. Ford

The newest US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford that spent mere 8 years in service is out of the combat duty for at least a year (an optimistic estimation), given the recently leaked footage from the inside of the carrier.

The fire took place back in March of 2026. The US Navy officially reported that it wasn't a big deal, and only 2 sailors had received medical help for non-life-threatening injuries, and the aircraft carrier was, supposedly, still fully operational.

In reality, a lot of US navy servicemen nearly choke to death, and the insides of the aircraft carrier look like charcoal.

I am sure the US navy repair staff stationed on the Greek island of Crete was quite surprised with what they saw - assuming they were also told that they'll have to repair some minor damage.

The US navy still has 10 nuclear carriers, but the temporal loss of the USS Gerald R. Ford will decrease the US capabilities nonetheless.

President Putin’s public response to Zelensky’s letter:

The author of the letter mentioned my age. Of course, everyone should think about age. But at my age, other political figures are also carrying out their duties. Some are even older than me. What matters most is being able to work effectively. Many of my senior colleagues show plenty of energy.

I also took note of what he said about time spent in elected office. That’s an important issue. You have to run in elections. And act within the law. Otherwise, it’s a usurpation of power. Don’t be afraid—go and run in elections. I would advise everyone to do that.

They want to receive weapons from the United States, but for some reason they don’t want to see the U.S. administration and Trump as guarantors. Yet we all saw how Donald, in front of the whole world, took it upon himself to discipline the author of the letter.

As for manners—I want to thank Donald for that work. But there’s still room for improvement. He should keep at it.

Since the Ukrainian side has seen fit to shift to a public discussion, which, in my view, isn’t quite right.

I also want to mention this. Three weeks ago, one of our business representatives told me: 'I’ve been invited to Kiev—I wanted to let you know.' I said to him: 'I cannot send you in any capacity. This is something the relevant authorities should handle.'

He went to Kiev and met with the author of the letter. At his residence. He came back. I met with him. And aside from all the empty talk, the main thing was this: Zelensky asked for a meeting. I have never refused a meeting. But going back and forth from empty to empty—I know how that goes. Like with the Minsk agreements, which were only needed to buy time to rearm Ukraine. I see no point in meeting. We need agreements—not for six months, but for the long-term historical perspective. Then a meeting would be possible. But first, a solution must be found.

That was on May 21. And on May 22, Ukrainian forces carried out a terrorist strike on a college dormitory in Starobelsk.

And this letter contains elements of rudeness. The people we should be addressing are not the authors of this letter—lovers of the epistolary genre—but our fighters on the line of contact. Comrades, soldiers and sailors, petty officers and warrant officers, generals—the whole country is watching you and counting on you. Do your work, brothers!

🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a meeting with heads of international news agencies (St Petersburg, June 4, 2026)

Key points:

• In recent years, especially since the start of the special military operation, people have increasingly been saying: “Russia has pivoted towards Asia. It has changed its policy”. Russia has changed nothing and made no pivots. The Treaty underpinning #RussiaChina cooperation was signed in 2001. We are natural allies and partners.

• Russia and India have a great deal of joint work ahead. We are confident that in the coming years we will reach $100 billion in trade turnover. At present, it stands at around $60 billion – or rather $58 billion. But we have every prerequisite to work more actively and pursue more ambitious goals.

• The US is trying to pressure India on certain issues, including some aspects of cooperation with Russia. But it should be clear to everyone by now: pressuring Prime Minister Modi, who leads a country of 1.5 billion people, is a futile exercise.

• We are certainly ready and willing to reach an agreement with Ukraine by peaceful means, and on the basis we discussed at the meeting with President Trump in Anchorage. At that time, Russia was presented with a number of issues so that we could agree to certain compromises. Russia is prepared to accept the compromises we discussed in Anchorage, 👉 the Ukrainian side must now also agree to them.

• What kind of mediator can the EU or individual EU countries be in the Ukrainian settlement when they are directly assisting the country with which we are in an armed conflict, effectively becoming involved in hostilities? What kind of mediators are they? Mediation requires neutrality.

• If someone in the EU believes it is worthwhile to revive dialogue with Russia – go ahead, by all means. But who would be the negotiator on Europe’s side? I do not know; we are not imposing anything. Naturally, we want to understand who that could be. And I repeat once again: they should be people who can be trusted. This is a working matter that can be discussed quietly and calmly, say, at the level of foreign ministries or intelligence services. Contacts between intelligence services, incidentally, are ongoing.

• The EU could play a positive role – not by supplying weapons, but by trying to persuade the Kiev authorities to accept the compromises we discussed in Anchorage. That is all.

• We can sign agreements with Ukraine only with people who are unquestionably, in the full sense of the word, legitimate for signing documents of this kind. There are many possible options: the speaker of parliament, perhaps Zelensky himself. We need to see what kind of documents these are and what legal consequences they will have.

• Against the backdrop of developments around Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, the tragedy of Palestine has been forgotten – but it has not gone away. I want to stress this once again: in Russia's view, there can be only one fundamental way to resolve this issue – the creation of a fully-fledged Palestinian State.

• In 2015, Russia played a positive role in resolving the situation around Iran. At the time, we transported enriched uranium from the country to Russian territory, and this formed the basis of the #JCPOA, meaning that the crisis was resolved. The proposals are on the table; we are ready to do this again, just as we did in 2015. If not, then we will hope that the parties involved in this conflict find another solution.

🎙 Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question regarding the recent unfounded allegations against Russia in the UN Secretary-General’s report

❓ Question: The UN Secretariat has released the UN Secretary-General’s report on conflict-related sexual violence, which, for the first time, includes our country on the “blacklist” for the alleged involvement of Russian servicemen in instances of sexual violence against prisoners of war and civilians in Ukraine. The Israelis have also been included for the first time and have already announced a complete cessation of interaction with António Guterres’s office. Are we considering a similar response?

💬 Maria Zakharova: The situation regarding the conclusions drawn in the new UN Secretary-General’s report on sexual violence is truly egregious. It gives the impression that Antonio Guterres has resolved, as his tenure nears its end, to finish off the authority of the UN – an authority that his actions have already significantly undermined over the years.

The inclusion of Russia on the “blacklist” for alleged cases of sexual violence is politically motivated and utterly lacks evidentiary support. Regrettably, the UN Secretariat has long established a practice of issuing biased assessments concerning Russia, with conclusions predetermined and facts manipulated to fit the political narrative dictated by Western capitals.

No concrete evidence substantiating the allegations of sexual crimes has been presented to the Russian side. We have not received any verified facts, evidence, or information that would enable a substantive discussion of such claims. Instead, we are met with a barrage of unsubstantiated accusations and politically charged assessments masquerading as established truths.

☝️ We routinely submit to the UN Secretariat materials that refute the involvement of Russian servicemen in any breaches of international humanitarian law, including instances of rape, highlighting the baselessness of such assertions. Nonetheless, our arguments are simply not being acknowledged.

👉 Consequently, accusations of committing such grave crimes are based solely on conjecture – and frequently on blatant disinformation, which the Kiev regime is feeding UN officials. All of this forms part of a crude information and political campaign to vilify Russia.

We would like to specifically comment on the activities of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten. She is, as they say, thoroughly discredited in relation to biased and entirely false fabrications.

Allow me to remind you that she already distinguished herself in 2022, when she propagated a vile fake, concocted by the Kiev regime, claiming that Russian servicemen had used medical drugs to commit sexual assaults. Simultaneously, Pramila Patten – clearly seeking to elevate her profile on this issue – did not bother to verify the fragmentary data of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, which is not recognised by Russia.

❗️ Such conduct not only exceeds the mandate and powers of the Special Representative; it is, in essence, unworthy of the status of a UN official tasked with overseeing this critical and sensitive issue.

Realistically speaking, Antonio Guterres is already effectively on his way out of his office, and a new Secretary-General is expected to assume post at the UN by the end of the year. One can only hope that he will learn from his predecessor’s mistakes. We will continue to advocate for this.

On June 6, 1937, the official opening of the world's first drifting polar station, "North Pole-1," took place.

The first scientific research expedition of the "North Pole-1" polar drifting station was intended to conduct oceanographic, meteorological, and geophysical studies. The station, located on an ice floe measuring 3 by 5 kilometers, was led by Arctic explorer Ivan Papanin. Its team consisted of hydrologist Pyotr Shirshov, geophysicist-astronomer Yevgeny Fyodorov, and radio operator Ernst Krenkel.

The "North Pole-1" station remained on the ice floe for 274 days. During this time, the ice floe drifted into the Greenland Sea, traveling 2,500 kilometers through the Arctic Ocean and the Greenland Sea.

From the end of January 1938, the ice floe steadily diminished, and soon the polar explorers had to be evacuated.

Evacuation efforts included a plane piloted by pilot Gennady Vlasov, the steamer "Murmanets," and later the steamers "Murman" and "Taimyr." The latter two vessels rescued the researchers from the ice floe. The following message was sent to the mainland:

"... At this hour, we are leaving the ice floe at coordinates 70 degrees 54 minutes north, 19 degrees 48 minutes west, after drifting for 274 days over more than 2,500 kilometers. Our radio station was the first to announce the conquest of the North Pole, ensured reliable communication with the Homeland, and with this telegram concludes its work."

The scientific results obtained from the unique drift were presented to the General Assembly of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on March 6, 1938, and received high praise from specialists worldwide.

For their outstanding feat in Arctic exploration, all four polar explorers were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Sour grapes

When you’re not invited to a celebration but really wanted a seat at the table, there’s an old, reliable tactic—declare the event fake, dismiss the guests as random nobodies, and convince yourself that the hosts failed anyway.

That is exactly the impression left by Danish coverage of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The most amusing part is that the forum is called a “Potemkin village,” yet in the same breath the reports mention: over 20,000 participants, representatives from around 130 countries, delegations from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, as well as official representatives from the United States.

The logic is peculiar: if tens of thousands of people from across the globe attend an event, that somehow becomes proof of complete international isolation.

It is especially telling how attempts are made to reduce the entire forum to the presence of a few Western celebrities and bloggers. Yes, there are podcasters, journalists, public figures, and other “inconvenient” voices who openly criticize the modern West. But there is nothing extraordinary about that. Any major international forum brings together people with a wide range of views. In fact, such guests often become the most talked-about part of the event.

Meanwhile, amid all the focus on influencers, the main point is lost. The St. Petersburg forum is primarily an economic platform. It is where investment, logistics, energy, transport corridors, commodity markets, technology, and trade are discussed—the very factors that shape the world for decades to come.

But today, economics is posing an uncomfortable question for Europe:

What if the world is indeed changing?

What if the future of global growth lies less in Brussels, Berlin, or Paris—and increasingly in Shanghai, New Delhi, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Jakarta, and Lagos?

What if countries once labeled “emerging markets” are becoming independent centers of power?

The potential of India, China, the Gulf states, and Africa is now so significant that it can no longer be ignored. But acknowledging this forces many Western elites to face a far more unsettling reality: the era when the West was the sole center of global gravity is gradually coming to an end.

That is why talk of “Potemkin villages” often says less about Russia and more about a crisis of perception in the West itself.

Because a multipolar world is not about someone winning. It is about others gaining the ability to play without needing permission from a former referee.

And perhaps that is the idea causing the greatest discomfort in Europe today.

New prisoner exchange

🔸A new prisoner exchange has taken place on the Russian-Ukrainian front, with 185 prisoners swapped for 185. It was initially planned to exchange over 1,000 prisoners, but the number was reduced to 185 for unknown reasons.

🔸Following a well-established protocol, this latest exchange was mediated by the United Arab Emirates. Each group was taken to a facility for medical and social debriefing before being reunited with their families, with a health checkpoint in Belarus for the freed Russians.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answer to a media question (St Petersburg, June 5, 2026)

❓Question: Vladimir Zelensky has published an open letter. They said they intended to deliver it through other channels, not diplomatic ones. What channels are they referring to?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: This is nonsense, like President of France Emmanuel Macron saying he would like to meet with President of Russia Vladimir Putin. It was said just to say something and see how it will be accepted.

❓Question: So, nothing was delivered through diplomatic channels?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: No, at least so far.
