๐ท๐บ๐ฎ๐ฉ President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held talks at the Kremlin with President-elect and Defence Minister of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who has come to Russia on a working visit.
๐ฌ Vladimir Putin: We know you as a good friend of our country. You are not only respected in Indonesia as a prominent military leader but also as a political figure. You have held the post of defence minister for many years. I know that you have developed very good relations with your Russian colleagues.
๐ค Russia and Indonesia share a long-standing friendship that began decades ago. Next year, we will mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between our countries.
๐ I would like to note that our trade and economic ties have been developing very well recently. Despite the pandemic and the current developments around Russia, including associated restrictions, our trade has been growing. It has doubled over the past years. This is a very positive trend, which makes us happy. I hope that it will persist.
We also hope that the draft agreement on the EAEU-Indonesia free trade zone, which is ready for signing, will play a positive and substantial role in the development of our trade and economic ties. <...>
We are ready to further increase agricultural deliveries and implement investment projects in energy, transport and infrastructure. It is the responsibility of our intergovernmental commission. <...>.
We also continue to cooperate in the humanitarian sphere. As per tradition, Indonesian students receive education in Russia, including on scholarships funded by the Russian budget, and we are ready to continue doing this. The Russian Centre for Science and Culture is operating in Jakarta. We would like to express our gratitude for supporting its work.
๐ Last but not least, we also coordinate our positions on the international stage, including and primarily within #ASEAN.

๐Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrovโs interview to Newsweek magazine (October 7, 2024)
โQuestion: As the Ukraine conflict continues, how different is Russia's position than in 2022 and how are the costs of conflict being weighed against the progress made toward strategic objectives?
๐ฌ Sergey Lavrov: Our position is widely known and remains unchanged. Russia is open to a politico-diplomatic settlement that should remove the root causes of the crisis.
It should aim to end the conflict rather than achieve a ceasefire. The West should stop supplying weapons, and Kiev should end the hostilities.
๐ Ukraine should return to its neutral, non-bloc and non-nuclear status, protect the Russian language, and respect the rights and freedoms of its citizens.
<...>
On 14 June, Russian President Vladimir Putin listed prerequisites for the settlement as follows: complete AFU withdrawal from the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson Oblasts; recognition of territorial realities as enshrined in the Russian Constitution; neutral, non-bloc, non-nuclear status for Ukraine; its demilitarization and denazification; securing the rights, freedoms and interests of Russian-speaking citizens; and removal of all sanctions against Russia.
Kiev responded to this statement by an armed incursion into the Kursk Oblast on 6 August. Its patrons โ the US and other NATO countries โ seek to inflict a ยซstrategic defeatยป on Russia. Under the circumstances, we have no choice but to continue our special military operation until the threats posed by Ukraine are removed. <...>
โQuestion: How likely do you think it is that a military or diplomatic solution can be achieved, or do you see a greater risk of the conflict spiraling into something even larger with Ukrainian forces receiving more advanced NATO weaponry and entering Russian territory?
๐ฌ Sergey Lavrov: Making guesses is not my job. What I want to say is that we have been trying to extinguish this crisis for more than a decade, yet each time we put to paper agreements that suite everyone, Kiev and its masters would backpedal. <...>
At present, as far as we can see, restoring peace is not part of our adversary's plan. Zelensky has not revoked his decree banning negotiations with Moscow. Washington and its NATO allies provide political, military and financial support to Kiev so that the war would go on. They are discussing authorizing the AFU to use Western long-range missiles to strike deep into Russian territory. "Playing with fire" in this way may lead to dangerous consequences. As stated by President Putin, we will take adequate decisions based on our understanding of the threats posed by the West. It is up to you to make conclusions.
โQuestion: What concrete plans does Russia have in line with its strategic partnerships with China and other powers to achieve changes in the current world order and how do you expect these ambitions to play out in areas of intense competition and conflict, including the Middle East?
๐ฌ Sergey Lavrov: What we have in mind is that the world order needs be adjusted to the current realities. Today the world is living through the "multipolar moment". Shifting towards the multi-polar world order is a natural part of power rebalancing, which reflects objective changes in the world economy, finance and geopolitics. The West waited longer than the others, yet it has also started to realize that this process is irreversible.
<...>
Multipolarity manifests itself in the increasing role of regional associations, such as the #EAEU, #SCO, #ASEAN, #AfricanUnion, #CELAC and others. #BRICS has become a model of multilateral diplomacy. The #UN should remain a forum for aligning the interests of all the countries.

โ๏ธ President of Russia Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants and guests of the Russia โ ASEAN Business Forum (June 17, 2026)
โ๏ธ I welcome you on the occasion of the opening of the Russia-ASEAN Business Forum.
The current forum, which has brought together leading representatives of the business communities of our country and #ASEAN member states in Kazan, the hospitable capital of Tatarstan, is of special importance.
2026 marks the 35th anniversary of Russia-ASEAN relations. Over these years, we have accumulated solid experience in multifaceted cooperation, established sustainable ties โ including between the ASEAN Business Advisory Council and the Russia-ASEAN Business Council โ and laid a good foundation for the future.
Today, new tasks stand before us. Among them are the active introduction of digital products based on artificial intelligence and the development of sustainable digital platforms.
Significant opportunities are opening up in energy and food security, the exchange of advanced technologies, cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy, transport and logistics. Importantly, our partners in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Eurasian Economic Union and other associations, whose representatives are present at the forum, are working in the same areas.
I am confident that the decisions of the Russia-ASEAN Summit will provide opportunities to further promote mutually beneficial trade, investment and industrial cooperation, expand direct dialogue between business communities and thereby contribute to the socioeconomic development of our states.
๐ค I wish you success in implementing your plans and all the best.

๐๏ธ Interview by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to #ASEAN Evgeny Zagaynov on the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership and its future prospects in the context of the 35th anniversary of relations, RIA Novosti (June 17, 2026).
Key points:
๐น๏ธ The 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations provides a good opportunity to take stock of the path we have travelled together and to identify new benchmarks for the further development of the Strategic Partnership. Shared interests and common approaches to international affairs have laid a solid foundation for practical cooperation.
๐น๏ธ Over the past three and a half decades, the ASEAN-Russia agenda has significantly evolved and now covers a wide range of areas โ from energy and food security to digital transformation, scientific, technological and innovative development.
๐น๏ธ The ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan on June 18 will serve as the main platform for discussing key tasks of engagement with ASEAN and is designed to give fresh impetus to further expanding cooperation, as well as reaffirm the shared commitment to promoting a just multipolar world based on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
๐น๏ธ Amid global economic transformations, Russia and ASEAN are interested in โa more substantive and pragmatic dialogue.โ The prospects for engagement go beyond increasing trade volumes and include industrial cooperation, establishment of joint production facilities, technology exchange and investment ties.
๐น๏ธ Cooperation in the field of civilian nuclear energy is one of the promising areas of ASEAN-Russia interaction, given Southeast Asiaโs growing focus on energy security and the transition towards a low-carbon economy. Russia is ready to share its expertise and technologies to contribute to sustainable development and strengthen the regionโs energy security.
๐น๏ธ Russia and ASEAN continue to advance joint efforts in countering terrorism and transnational crime. Combating crimes committed with the use of ICTs is becoming increasingly embedded in the regional agenda, while the cross-border nature of such threats requires international coordination and information exchange.
๐น๏ธ Russia views Southeast Asia as a friendly space for positive co-development and is ready for constructive engagement with all ASEAN Member States. It actively contributes to maintaining the regional security architecture, with the principle of ASEAN centrality remaining its foundation.
๐น๏ธ Russia advocates promoting a unifying agenda and building an architecture of equal and indivisible security with the participation of all Eurasian states and organizations ready for cooperation. ASEAN undoubtedly has an important role to play in this process.
